I think Robert's great triumph is not that he create's the most wonderful character of Rumpelstiltskin, which indeed he does deary....but that he manages to dial it down to the Mr Gold Character in Storybooke, and through that persona still capures the essence of Rumpelstiltskin without ever going into the pantomime side of him. He is without doubt one of the World's outstanding actors for me ! There are many billed above him who couldn't hold a candle to him !
God damn I could tell he was Irish or Scottish or something on the show but man his accent is really dialed down compared to real life!!! Love this guy :p
i usually skip over the parts with snow white and charming. and watch his scenes he just rocked it . he did rumple and mr gold so great.just love robert carlyle.
Robert Carlyle is PHENOMENAL as Rumpelstiltskin! The he looks, moves and sounds is so unique. He is without a doubt my favorite on OUAT...and don't even get me started on the subject of Rumbelle...lol! Too late...have to say it...I LOOOVE THEM and will ship them until the end of time!

omg--his portrayal of Rumplestiltskin as a sort of Shakespearean kind of Puck is AWESOME! I saw him in Full Monty years ago and wasn't terribly impressed, but his characterization is amazing in Once Upon a Time. He is an amazing actor, and IMO carries that show nearly completely--both he and Lana Parilla, are the only ones who keep me coming back--even with some terrible writing and acting on the parts of the other actors, his Rumple is awesome. He's also totally sexy. Here's another Scottish actor, like Sean Connery, who's totally going to still be sexy at like 95... lol.
Amazing actor....can play ANYTHING. ANETHINNN!! Encouraged one of my fav actors ever into acting...fellow Glaswegian, Tommy Flanagan. Angela's Ashes, Safe, The Full Monty....just to name a few VERY memorable performances.
he looks as if he's had some plastic surgery around the eyes. wrinkles and aging aside (which is more than fine, he wears it well!) , he looks very different in the face, from his Carla's Song days (about 15 years ago).. I can't place it, but he's got the Liam Neeson eye-lift look around the face that wasn't there before..

Robert really plays rumplestilskin very well. No one could be better at it. I just love his laugh.
