Very interesting, I remember being fascinated by the Raven Hotel as a kid, think my Nana took me there once. Stunning bldg. Excellent video on what looks like a crap day! 🎉. Brilliant, thanks from NZ.
Great video dan my dad used to work at the cattle market and left just before it closed in 1959 market day was a spectacle he used to say hard work walking the cattle through the streets etc he loved that job he said not with us anymore but always remember the story of the cattle market best wishes TFS Phil 👍
The enumerator for a number of Census's, with typical Shropshire bluntness, leaves nothing to the imagination in describing how the ladies of the shuts between Mardol and Roushill made a living.
Can't quite get why the town wall 'L' just finishes instead of forming a circular defence. Perhaps it did and was robbed well before this 16th century map was drawn up. 8:20 was my Sea Scout HQ in the 60's. We knew it had been a morgue and a few of us stayed in the loft one night, I bet we didn't stick it out all night! I lived in the off licence in Greenfields so not far to go. Cheers. Good video.
Good to have this extra info and personal tale, the video benefits (they all do) from stuff like this. I can’t say I blame you not sticking it out (in the former morgue 😅). I would say you’re correct, the map was made after the end of the Welsh Wars. The town walls were long redundant. 🧐
When i was a kid, what is currently Music Bros was a pet shop with puppies and kittens on display in the windows! Can still remember the smell!
I remember Pets corner it was like going to the zoo as a kid lol!
@@thirdratecontent585 ha! Pets Corner! That was it! You've got a better memory than me, Dan 😂
@@thirdratecontent585 Owned by Mr Airey. I believe he's still alive in his 90's.

Thanks Phil, hearing your Dads tales of working there add to the video 👍

👍🏻
That bus station in Shrewbury should be consigned to history, it is a disgrace. Like something out of a Third World slum
Low cost, low effort nothing building. It’s basically the antithesis of, say a Victorian structure 🧐 lol 👍
Brilliant video. Wish i could give it more than one like 👍
Thanks for watching, and it’s lovely to hear you enjoyed 👍
