You may win in numbers but the machine they got on field was too much that’s why it was a lose battle, with 2000 soldier it would have still be a win that’s why the fail reinforcement was decisive
They're taking some shortcuts to making a good game for sure. Employing more free choice makes it more difficult to tell a good story. It's like a reset button for the devs. Makes it way easier.
Its kinda hard to stop and avalanche by winning a battle. Still would be nice for some custom dialogue if the battle is in your favor. Like "aw what the heck this avalanche killed everyone >:("
If you are talking about getting a different advisor, you have to sacrifice Audry by not choosing anyone to frame during the royal trial, and he will take the blame. But if you are talking about how to get the reservist soldiers you have to talk with your advisor during the battle and choose the reserve option and agree to the idea and then you'll also have reservist soldiers.

BUT you get her shield men after hearing the rumor that her son is cursed and call Lady Lena and confront her about it will you be offered her shield men. IMPORTANT: During the trial do not accuse Lord Etton or Lady Lena as you’ll lose their soldiers and special units in the battle.

If not for the avalanche victory was **possible**, had more men than the radovians
it doesent really matter if you have more soldiers or not in the end you always end up winning and with 20 soldiers left
i think we always win this battle no matter, what i won with 882 troops no shield troops no hounds , avalanch kill all but my 20 troops just like that

Ask the advisor about the reserves and you will be given an option to create reserve forces and then they will be sn option to use in battle.
