This is my Maitre Parfumeur Et Gantier Ambre Precieux Fragrance Review. A fragrance I have worn for over 5 years. Once I smelled Ambre Sultan by Serge Lutens I was searching for as many ambers as I can find. So one of the fragrances I discovered back in 2013 was Ambre Precieux and I blind bought a bottle. Immediately I was hooked. This is the kind of intense, vanillic, spicy, resinous fragrance I loved. Finally 5 years later I have a second full review but this review is from the most current edition. Jean-Francois Laporte was a highly influential figure in the world of niche perfumery. Having made his name as the founder of Sisley, he went on to offer one of the first alternatives to mass market perfumery when he founded L’Artisan Parfumeur in 1976. After leading that now extremely well-known brand to its initial success, he moved on to found Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier. Laporte passed away in 2011.

I love amber fragrances. Your description of Ambre Precieux was wonderful. I especially like the fact that it is described as a deep and heavy fragrance as that is what I am seeking in an amber fragrance. I have not had the opportunity to try Ambre Precieux but my current favorites are Ambre Sultan, Ambre mediterranea. and Ambra Aurea.

Hey Sebastian! I love how you go into so much detail about the perfume, notes, history, etc. I also love that you found it after Ambre Sultan as it's one that I also own and enjoy (this tells me we share the same taste in fragrances) My favourite amber dominant scents are: MKF Grand soir, SL Ambre Sultan and HdP Ambre 114. I'm from Boston, MA, in the U.S.A.

Loved the review Sebastian. Never smelled anything from the brand, but I definitely AM into ambers, especially when combined with either myrrh or some kind of incense, like in Ambre Precieux. Your description of the strength is what I'm digging with this one. 3 favourite ambers currently - Amber Absolute, Grand Soir and Ambre Nuit - although I recently dusted off an old bottle of Zara's Ambre Noble and was surprised how much I still adored it. Very basic, but a great layering piece. Canada!
It's rare to hear of reformulation that is better than the OG! Ambre Nuit, Ambre Royal and LDDM/ACDD are my favorites. Thanks, Seb!
Owned this a few years ago when it came in a red bottle and LOVED it. It is the best of the best. Just delicious. Love the powdery quality of it. Few other great ambers include HdP Ambre 114, Lutens Ambre Sultan and PDE Ambre Russe. Gorgeous blends all. Enjoyed the review. Excellent rundown as always. USA 🇺🇸
Wow, what a statement you made with regards to this being potentially the best amber fragrance out there. That peaks my interest with this fragrance.
My three favorite fragrances with amber accords are MFK Grand Soir, and these two which are in my buy list sometime - Serge Lutens Chergui and TF Plum Japonais.

Amber is one of my favourite fragrance notes and this one sounds absolutely georgeous. I think that this bottle would for sure be the most beautiful one in my Collection, also the first one from this house. Since Ashley rated this as her number one niche fragrance this has to be a real gem!

Amber is a note that make me feel very warm and cozy, and I really love that feeling, specially for cold weather, since I love "Bombastic Fragrances".
And definitely, this gorgeous mix with balsamic notes and vanilla are exactly what sounded so appealing to me. Having this sweet and resinous accord, and yet have a powdery and conforting aspect certainly is what makes me want to have this beauty from Maitre Parfumeur Et Gantier.

Thank you for an interesting and informative review. I love amber fragrances in general and this one specifically. One of the things I often find a bit challenging about amber is that they can come off a bit to masculine. This one doesn't do that as much in my opinion. I have gone through two samples of Ambre Precieux, and it is now on the top of my Wishlist. I enjoy how dense and rich it is, how unisex it is, and I even love the bottle! My favorite amber fragrances is 1. Ambre Precieux 2. Tango by Masque Milano and 3. L’Ambre des Merveilles by Hermès. I live in Norway :-)

I love that you said that it's probably one of the best amber's of all time and that it's a heavy fragrance that you only need 1 or 2 sprays that will last the entire day. Sebastian so glad I caught this review. New to the fragrance community, I have a small collection of 16. I've been looking for a vanilla/amber fragrance after I was wearing Versace Eros early that day, though it disappeared, then sprayed on Mercedes Club Black. I got that sort of clean, amber spice from the Mercedes but that creamy, fresh vanilla was still in the background, kind of around the Mercedes. Really been looking for something doing that on a more refined or better structure then that combo. Who you have any other recommendations for that kind of vibe
What an incredible fragrance! Am hugely into amber and heavy orientals and do love Ambre Sultan. The sweetness of the amber and vanilla appeal to me a great deal and I've been on the hunt for the best amber I can find as many of the ones I have tried in the past like Amber Flash were just lacking something. I LUUUUUUV amber fragrances, but most of all I luv when they are well blended and complex ones. My 3 favorite amber frags are Roja's Amber Aoud, TF's Amber Absolute and Ajmal's Jewel of India Amber floral attar oil (a bit animalic but the funkyness fades away and leaves you smelling of sweet amber, sandalwood, and florals). ❤it! My country is the USA and I luv watching your videos Sebastian, they're SUPER informative and much appreciated, keep it up man 👍.
Great review Sebastian! I have never tried Ambre Precieux, but it is on my list of must haves. My favorite (inexpensive) amber fragrances are: 1) Tauerville Amber Flash 2)Kalemat by Arabian Oud 3) Eas Des Beaux by L'Occitane. I would love to try a more expensive and more luxurious amber.

I had a small decant of this a few years ago (long gone) I remember liking it, but my tastes were a bit different then.

I quite enjoy PARFUM D’HABIT, but haven't sampled too many of their other fragrances.
Of the fantasy Amber accord fragrances I have I'd say Loree Rodkin II parfum, Ajmal Amber Wood, and Givenchy PI "vintage" are probably still my favorite ones.

Its the best Amber fragrance out there. I have had a sample and i loved it so much. Other amber perfumes I liked are MFK Grand Soir, Christian Dior Ambre Nuit and Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan. Your video is so amazing good and the fragrance Ambre Precieux is mine next buy if I don’t win it.

I love ambers and you make this sound gorgeous. I only have a couple of ambers, makes grand Soir and so amber sultan are my favourites. If I win this then it will be my third. Your descriptions of the fragrance makes it sound intoxicating.

Great video Sebastian! My three fav amber frags are: 1. Cafe Ambre Noir by Sultan Pasha, 2. Ambre Loup by Rania J., and 3. Ambre Precieux by Maitre Parfumeur et Gantier. I smelled Ambre Precieux about a year ago and was impressed by it because it was so different to me. On my skin, the lavender was prominent and powdery when combined with the vanilla. The Ambergris was palpable and really gave the whole composition a beautiful lift. MPG Ambre Precieux has been on my short list to try, but I haven't yet had the opportunity. Your description of it makes it very appealing, as you often do. My favorite ambers that I have had a chance to try are Dior Ambre Nuit, The One EDP, and Armani Code Profumo (based upon the notes from Fragrantica). In US.
Great review! I haven't tried anything from this house yet. I do love a good amber but I dont have a full bottle of Amber's yet just a bunch of decants but my favorite Amber's are 1. Grand sior 2. I love strong and long lasting scents. I haven't try perfumes from this house as they are unavailable in my country. My favourite ambers so far are Ambre Fétiche by Annick Goutal, Ambre Sultan by Serge Lutens and The Library Collection Opus VI by Amouage. Great review as always Sebastian. I live in Poland.

I have never tried fragrances from Maitree Parfumeur et Gantier, but sounds and looks really really nice.
My favourite amber currently is Grand Soir from Maison Francis Kurkdjian, and I love Tom Ford’s Amber Absolute and Ambre Sultan from Serge Lutens, as well, what you already mentioned in the video.

Everything you described about this Amber is so appealing. The bottle is a beauty and it's a decantable one as well. This is definitely going in to my "to buy list".
The Amber that I own and enjoy most are.
1. Ambre Imperial - Van Cleef & Arpels (what a delicious delicious Amber this is)
2. Guerlain's ambre eternal ( richer and spicier than 1)
3. Jovan (cheapie and pretty good)
4. Ambre Sultan (I get more saffron and spices than Amber. This one is like visiting an ayurvedic drug store lol).
If you think Ambre Sultan is good, you must try Van Cleef if you haven't already.

I trust in your refined fragrance-test and wish to test this perfume. Sounds beautiful- amber, flowers and resins. and it is goo too that this perfume has with gorgeous flavor depth and good longevity.
I like ambery perfumes- for example amber absolute tom Ford, LADDM Tauer, and L'Ambre des Merveilles Hermes.

Ambery type scents becoming my favorite genre, because of warm and spicy appeal. Always wanted to try the house as it is an old house, but this seems to be very rare or non existant in my country. Balsamic, balmy, sweet amber sounds so delicious, have to try this! Really love most scents that have amber, not just entirely an amber scent, but compositions that have an ambery base dry-down too and there are tons, from freshiess to rich and heavy scents.
My absolute favorites are: Casamorati 1888 by Xerjoff, Ambre Lumiere by Molinard, love Miss Dior Le Parfum which in an amazing amber, patchouli scent borderlining niche quality, old but stunning Obsession for Men Calvin Klein and very similar niche scent Ambre by Herba London which is just incredible. Have to mention my favorite Pure Havane by Mugler since it have an amazing ambery dry-down and Erba Pura by Sospiro and lastly of course all time greats Grand Soir and L'Air du Desert Marocain which I really want to have in a future.

I'm impressed n satisfied with 2 Amber from performance roma...Ambra Aurea n Fiori D Ambra.....I guess these two are world's numbers one Amber frags for me........stunning performance n excellent longingly.....I use one at a time and swop when running out....also Choppard Amber Malaki is the cheap n I keep for layering with other frags......

I've been curious about this fragrance for quite some time -- thanks to you☺️ I'm especially intrigued because you mention that although it starts off light and floral, as it evolves, it get deeper and richer -- more intense. Also, you've mentioned a few times that it's one of the best, if not *the* best amber fragrance. Who wouldn't want to give it a try? 😄 My current favorite amber scents are Serge Lutens Ambre Sultan, MFK Grand Soir and although not listed as an accord, Bruno Fazzolari's Ummagumma smells amber-y to my nose.

I also own Tauerville Ambre Flash. Will definitely try this one out. I am familiar with the name but did not know anything about the brand. Great review!

I like Ambre Precieux because you said it was one of those sillage monsters; big, powdery amber. I've been craving vanilla and lavender notes, but in an unconventional way. This would be great to wear this winter and leave a scent trail behind. My three favorite ambers are: Ambre L'Occitane en Provence, Private Collection Amber Ylang Ylang Estée Lauder, and Ambre Fétiche Annick Goutal. I'm from the US.

This sounds exciting, the "best" amber. Would love to try this. My three ambers are Serge Lutens' Ambre Sultan, Christian Dior Mitzah (very similar to Sultan) and Dior's Ambre Nuit. I am in The Netherlands.

I've never tried Ambre Precieux, but it just sounds amazing. If you think this is one of the best amber fragrances out there, I have to smell it! I love how classy and luxurious the packaging is. Your reviews always make me want to run out and buy the fragrances.
My favorite ambers so far are Molinard Ambre (I blind bought it based on your review), Hermes l'Ambre des Merveilles, and Mugler Alien Essence Absolue (which I guess is more of a vanilla). I do really like the sweet ones but I'm branching out. I would absolutely love to win this fragrance. Thank you for the giveaway! I'm in Canada.

I am a fan on Amber Fragrances. I am not familiar with this fragrance or most niche fragrances, but I am open to trying new things.
Unfortunately I have never tried any of amber dominant perfume. But I think I would very like the amber note. Ambre Précieux is my favorite amber, although I only own a decant (I've had it for a while so it's probably from the red bottle) and I would love a full bottle. It has just the right balance of amber/resins and sweetness. I also own Kalemat (full bottle - probably my second favorite), Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense (full bottle), Ambre Sultan (only a small decant but I plan to get a full bottle at some point - I would rank it #3), and Ambre Russe (decant - just meh). I'm in the U.S.
Have not smelt this frag but some of the Amber frags i have had and smelled C:
1. Dolce&Gabbana - The One (mum and wife used to buy it for me)

Bought 3 samples from the Jovoy Paris UK website. Incident diplomatique, Private Label and Pavillion Rouge , don't get me wrong they smell beautiful but it wasn't beast mode for me. Sprayed 4 squirts of Private Label on myself and it felt like after a couple of hours it became a skin scent. Think my skin is out of whack lol. Sprayed 2 squirts of Incident diplomatique and it was the same, a few hours and then a skin scent. The Pavillion Rouge is too fruity for me but my wife absolutely loves it.
I love the amber in amouage interlude man it smells fairly close to an amber essential oil I smelled at a whole foods store and so far that's it. From the United States
