How To Plumb Up On A Waggler

Not everyone has a range of buoyant spare wagglers of the exact same length of the one they’re fishing with. Just undershot the float and squeeze a swan shot on the hook or use a light plummet. Quick and accurate and easy.

Make your own ive made some of my own recently got bamboo ones reed ones bullrush reed wagglers all sorts i had loads of bits of old bobs loads of broken floats an the important bit at the bottom so you can put your line through keep building up layers of clear lacquer or nail varnish lacquer on the body paint them up super glue the insert at the bottom an they work sound just the same as expensive ones

Usually ....just nick off one of top load and pop a ssg on for super arcuate. Great for rivers when you need to know what levels are down stream. Fantastic for range. Although that will be one of your next tricks. 🤭

So if you’ve cut that peacock waggler to the exact size of the loaded waggler for accuracy, are you saying you have a plumbing up float for every length of waggler you use?

Also it’s fine aiming for a dead straight line from float to plummet, but as soon as you remove that plummet and put a maggot on, you would have that same direct tension with the bait being lighter than the plummet. Just my thoughts…

Perhaps fishing slightly overdepth compensates for this?

Just shot the float as normal and put an SSG on the hook gague the depth. Much easier than casting a plummet about.

I do it on lakes this way, but it the water is running sometimes an SSG is not enough to keep everything in place. On that case I use 5 or 8 grs Stonfo plummets. They are not so heavy to cause massive disturbance or put pressure to the rod, but heavy enough to read the depth accurately.
