Yay!! Getting ready to build kitchen cabinets. May be about 16 cabinets or so. Question? Are frameless cabinets as structurally sound as frames cabinets?
Awesome! Cabinets are a great project! The face frame doesn’t really add any extra “strength” to the cabinet. It can help hold the box square (but so does the back panel) and for really wide cabinets, it MIGHT add a little extra support to the countertop, but face frame pieces are so thin anyway, whatever it added wouldn’t really be much support if any at all. I personally prefer frameless cabinets and use them for most of my cabinet projects.
@@WoodshopDiaries Thank you for your reply and help!!! Another question? Do you have any plans available for a corner cabinet build and a farmhouse sink cabinet?
Any chance you have plans to make a corner cabinet or shelf of some sort? I'd really like to build a corner floating wall unit or two, but I don't know where to start!

Hi! So glad you found it helpful! I’m not sure if I fully understand your question. You’d find it as if for a single door, subtract the 1/8” gap needed between them, then divide by two. That’s the width you’d need to make each door.

Just FYI, the fact that you need 1/4" reveal on the hinge side of the door doesn't mean you need 1/4" reveal on the non-hinge side. I just built new doors for my kitchen cabinets and where 2 doors come together (2 non-hinge sides of the door) I just left a 1/8" gap between them (I made each door half the dimension of the middle divider minus 1/16") because that's the look I like. I also do this when I'm building things like sideboards. It works fine, no rubbing!
I want to make some cabinets with 3 doors(double doors and a single one) but I'm thinking to use edge banding for a nicer finish since I don't wish to paint them. Should I cut my doors less than 1/4 inch wide(and tall) than the cabinet? I want to make full overlay frameless doors. Thank you!!
The sizing would be based on how you plan to mount and divide them. There would have to be some type of divider between the doors-either one or two of them-or else the middle door has nothing to hang on.
