Driving McKendree road in Thayer, WV.. Thayer is near Thurmond and is a small dirt road above the gorge. One simple mistake and it's a straight fall into the river in some spots.
I grew up in Thayer and I am not ashamed. My first friendships started there. I attended Claremont Elementary School, which is between Thayer and Thurmond. I have good and bad memories but I am glad for the things I experienced there. It's a beautiful ride from Thurmond to Prince. William(Bobby) Cooper
I grew up here in the mountains. I did live up north in the city a long time ago, and it was awesome, But there are so many roads and places to see in this state. I know this area right here, and yes quite narrow, But one of my all time favorites is the scenic highway up in Pocahontas County. 20 miles of nothing but scenery and some overlooks. Its worth checking out, along with a few other places in this state especially to your north. I live maybe 30 miles from this road.
Totally missed Thayer. The fork in the road you turn right. Go down the hill to Thayer. I spent all my summers growing up there.Cross the tracks and turn left.Go to end. What used to be our grandparents home/ farm is now an open free campground. They sold it to the park service when they became to elderly to live so far out anymore.
Yea my great grandmother's house was beside your grandparents house small world my whole family from Thayer I spent most my child hood up there absolutely beautiful I grew up pretty much in the first house u come to in Thayer that is my aunt Patty's house right there where the first bus house was
I know it's a OLD video, but being that it's Wv. Dept. of Highway comes in to plant guardrails but the roads look like they haven't seen asphalt in what 50 years???!
isn't Thayer up the hill? where the McKendree hospital is/was? there's Thurmond but i think yours is the only mention of Thayer any where...well anyway...
