Nice to see the area I left in my late 20s. This video brings back a lot of memories. My dad played these songs and the Stanley Brothers and Bill Monroe were his favorites. If any of you went to Beckley much in the 70s and 80s my dad was the blind man that played the guitar and sang at Murphy's and other places. He was a good musician and singer. I miss my parents and those days a lot. Thanks for a great video.
My dad was born and raised in Thurmond. I made this same drive with him several times when I was younger. Great memories, thank you for posting this video. My uncle owned the grocery store in Red Star and I remember going there as a kid for a soda.
JEFFERY, THIS WAS REALLY A NICE TOUR. I WISHED I COULD HAVE BEEN THERE RIDING WITH YOU. BOY THAT TRAIN WAS SURE A LONG ONE. YOU HAVE A LOT OF ONE-LANE BRIDGES ALSO. IT WAS A VERY INTERESTING RIDE. I ENJOYED YOUR MUSIC SO VERY MUCH. COULDN'T SLEEP SO HERE I WAS TAKING A TOUR DOWN THE HIGHWAY. A VERY GOOD VIDEO, VERY PRETTY SCENERY. 5 STARS AND THUMBS UP. DARLENE
Cool video. I'm looking to make a road trip down to Thurmond to do some railfanning and soak up the scenery. Looks like I'm in for a nice scenic trip! =)
LOL, we followed this road, but when we went across the bridge, we kept going. BIG MISTAKE!! It took us 1 1/2 hours to go 12 miles! This road turned into a goatpath!! Good Video though!

very good scenery, reminds me of North Miss. Also very good songs, the Stanley Brothers the best there is. Thanks Jeffery
It's way too late and I have to go to bed, but I'm enjoying the music and scenery too much. Carter Stanley still rocks!
