- In this video we install the ATV Tiger Tail on the 2015 Can Am Outlander XT 1000.

I had the two same exact issues as you with licence plate and rattling. The tiger tail I have is SXS version and yours is the ATV version so it's slightly larger. I couldn't get the licence plate to fit on top either. So I just mounted the plate on the tiger tail itself. I like the idea of using set screw, might have to try it. I just used black electrical tape to fill the gap, but doesn't last very long after a couple of times removing the tiger tail. Anyone that has tried or seen the tiger tail wants one. A little pricey but well worth the money once you have it. Only problem with having one is you always end up being the designated tow truck.
+Frankie's Channel lol! You are right about being the tow truck Frankie. I have only been out twice since it has been mounted and have racked up 3 tows already! Not sure how the set screw will hold up as it has a pretty small surface area but I suppose you could always put a couple of them in there. I just drilled a hole and tapped it. i like the tail,, we bought a black tow hook from amazon for ours,,,, it rattles some but with helmets on and while moving we don't hear it, we carry a yellow nylon tow strap as well, i love your videos,,, be safe you guys,,,,,,,

I have had the TT for over a year, tuff to keep the hook from dropping. Also when you get into mud , tuff to gt it to retract.

Hi cubbeezx just a little note on your tiger tail I had one on my atv and I almost lost it because the pin got hooked up on a stick and pulled it out , so I put a bolt through the hole a works great no problem after words.
Good to know! Appreciate you sharing that with us...will have to take another look at mine and do something similar. Would hate to lose it!
Wow that things coming along nicely I think it'll be cheaper to just use a lobster trap rope on my hitch ball to tow people for now haha

That is a great product, less hassle and u don't have 2 worry aboot run overs or tangles. A investment I will make thx 4 the clip.

Hey, that red Quad looks familiar! LOL! They don't make a bracket to fit my 650 solid axle, so I either have to grind and drill or find a way to attach a receiver hitch first!
+Rob Farrow LOL, it sure does! Too bad they don't make one to fit your 650...we used to have a receiver for the Grizzly that bolted onto where the ball goes..not sure how strong it would be though. Thanks for stopping by and checking out the video!

+Matt Seth LOL Didn't want to drill a hole in my bumper so attached the light bar with hose clamps. Covered them in heat shrink wrap first..so far so good! The video will show it in detail though.
Man I got to get me one and seeming how KFI is making them it will match my new KFI assault winch. I know it handy better than having to get out a rope all the time or chain.

Is where you mounted the reg. plate legal? Does not appear to be clearly visible from the rear when standing behind vehicle at a readable distance?
+tony swaine The plates are usually covered in mud on the ATV's so where it is now it actually is protected quite a bit!

Man that looks nifty but only 15 feet and 150 dollars might be a bit pricy for me lol. However, it is annoying getting rope tied around my SRA Rancher if I turn too sharp.

+finpainter1 That's the very point I was going to ask about. We gotta watch that height above the center of pull, otherwise a flip will likely be in the future of the towing 4-wheeler. Having that tow point at or just below the center of the rear axle will make this safe.
Looks like a good piece of equipment to have mounted for those rough trails.

SkulledMonte, this is a rich man's luxury. You are 100% correct. It is not worth 225.00 to the average man. This thing does nothing that a 25.00 come along and a tow strap can't do. It just does it faster. I personally would try to get one if I could afford one of these huge 1000cc machines. I don't think I have to worry about either for a while.
It’s not cheap but I’ve been running my original TigerTail for 12 years, you can also rebuild it with parts available from TigerTail.

How's that set screw working? What size did u use? I'm going to do the same thing and was thinking of using a 3/8
Just noticed the other day actually that the set screw (1/2" ) is working great...no rattling and still there!
Just For Your Safety and hers, Drive forward till all the rope is let out before you tow.

Very nice machine. However, I could never understand how Can Am sells such a high performance quad with such terrible CV boot/axle protection. It's not uncommon that a larger branch lodges itself in there and tears a boot in no time. I personally would look for protectors or you'll be changing 'em often. Happy riding.

As the Tiger Tail retracts on it's own it's good for giving a tow...a lot shorter than a winch line though
