I want to thank Jay for not having any commercials on his site. Also for the wonderful car and bikes. I've learned more about vintage machines than I ever did as a mechanic. Great job Jay ,
We know Jay's got the jack but his clothes looks like one of us. I think its nice of him to take us into his garage and share what he has with us. Thanks a lot Jay.
what i like the best about your channel is that you cover any and every class of vehicle...not just the high priced high end toys...i loved your coverage of the steam engines also..
Used to race a "Bug Eye" Sprite and loved just leaving Mustangs and Camaros in the corners.....they would wheel me in on the straights but I would again just embarrass them in the corners, passing inside or out as needed. Great handling is far better than incredible horsepower blastong to a corner, hold on, braking and and then repeating it again. The greatest racing I have ever experienced!
In a two week period I drove from Key West to Michigan and back twice in my 500 Abarth. Was amazed how well the standard down force worked when you get up around 100 mph. And it's the perfect car for Key West where I live.
I've never seen Jay show his driving prowess before. He'd be the first to say he's not a pro but it was nice to see him deftly handle that giddy burnout.
There is a special magic driving Abarth cars: You feel the power and the speed in this little rocket! If you you drive 200 Km/h with a ordinary Porsche or Ferrari on the German autobahn, it is nothing special. But 230 Km/h in an Abarth... you have the feeling of double speed. But most fun with Abarths is driving them on roads in the mountains.
No other car has as much personality as these - at least not for the price point. I'm reserving judgement until I drive one...I'm going next week for a test drive. BUT it's crazy that you can get these about two years old with 10-15,000 miles for less than 15 grand. I don't think there is any other car this fun at this price point. Great job Jay.
+Jay Scott just keep in mind the s2k does not have a turbo, however the rpm on the ap1 s2k goes all the way up to 9rpm its like a fucking motorcycle on wheels best driving position ever made however the abarth has alot of character and the sound is nearly pornographic the s2k is very nice too with the right duel exhaust system try both man but i really want the abarth! and the s2k myself both decent on gas fun, head turner but very very different cars with different fun factors.
+Michal Foster for 10 grand more... right now im looking at s2000's.. anything under 50k miles is about $25,000 .. and about $14,000 for a 2013 abarth with 20k miles. Yes I also say s2000 is probably more fun but much more expensive..
I have done a couple of mods to my base 500 with Robert Tallini and Road/Race--and got to drive that Abarth--what a hoot. The Cold air and timing advance has made a significant difference in both power and milage!
Mine handles like a skateboard - and I don't mean a longboard either I mean a real 52mm wheel skateboard! I can slalom thru all the speed bumps in the parking lot, it's a blast. Handles so well it has an illusion that the back wheels are turning too. Love it!
240hp with stock internals!!!? It's all bolt-on? Holy Cats! that's nutty power for a car that size. I always thought the stock 160hp Abarth was a fun little rocket, that thing must really be a nutter to drive :-D
michael schumacher has thesecond most impressive car collection ,as impressive as jays with the moderns but jay has history , antiques and musuem pieces.
At 4:02 "...steel rotors..." AFAIK nobody uses steel for automotive rotors. Metal rotors are near-always made of cast-iron. It has much better thermal stability and conductivity than steel.
I have the somewhat detuned Abarth, called the Fiat 500 Turbo Sport. It's a scream to drive and it always wins over the people that I have given a ride! Very Vivacious and I feel like a million bucks whenever I drive it! Oh, I usually average 40mpg, and I don't drive slowly to do it!
How to mess with everyone. get the performance package and a exhaust that nullifies sound to a Fiat 500 level and smoke every ricer that messes with you.

i see these little cars around and always wonder if they are fun to drive. Thanks for giving me my answer Jay, one of these little guys might be taking me up and down Parley's on the way to work.
I have a VW Golf twin turbo HPA R32 and a Fiat Abarth sitting next to each other in the garage. Both balls to the wall FUN that feel like slot cars on the road!

wow. they bolted on 80 hp on a 1.4 liter without opening it up, all bolt ons. thats pretty amazing.
and its under $1500 to boot. Thats cheap
Ya, it's an add-on ECU and some turbo and intake pipes.....That's why it's so cheap.
$700 gets you 40hp from an add on ECU that comes off when you take it to the dealer. i'm not sure where the other 40 hp comes from

I hate that someone too. Love my abarth
240hp with such a light weight car would be a perfect fun daily driver. Pretty fast too.
Jay's vid actually helped me choose my Abarth, I can't be happier with it! I find it cool that he likes Miatas too, I love my 90
If your 2012 Fiat 500 just has a small sunroof it's it okay to go through a drive-through car wash with it

Bought my 2nd Abarth in Sep. The most fun you can have
Really? Sweet.
Was going to get one last year but I got caught up with my other rides. They definitely came along. as far as mods avail

I respect Jay for the fact that he does not just waste money on clothes and invests it and donates it.
Thats what I like about Jay, that he enjoys a small car as well.
The Bluetooth headset is so the guy can listen to the producers feeding him answers to Jays questions. Lol.
Congrats road race motorsports, I'll be getting my parts for my 1.4t dart through you guys, keep up the good work

These look like a ton of fun. Didn't realize there was a good deal of aftermarket stuff for the Abarth seems like a decent tiny pocket rocket.
Jay Leno doing a handbrake turn. That just made my day.
Jay Leno needs to have a big track day with all his favorite cars
im debating getting a small 2 seater car. but seeing this video makes me wanna get one.. suped up tho

+copperlocks1 You can get potato coach size seats.
NICE! I used to frequent Road///Race for my DSM performance, glad to see they've gotten the spotlight from Jay Leno!
Since when did Jay Leno's garage attract so many designer critiques? It's a show about cars, not about whether denim is cool or not.

thank you . Jay for mentioning the situation in the Philippines in your show tonight.
I love my Abarth! Planning to install a piggyback ecu though it doesn't need it!
That horn breaks my ears every time I watch these videos with headphones at the end
This reply baffled me-
Jay: "This is Robert Tallini, how you doin' buddy?"
Robert: "How you doin'."
Yeah man that really made sense.
Its called being nervous. Human physiology, when someone is excited and nervous they will often repeat what someone else says to them.
Yeah, I know what you mean. We've all done it before.. Just seemed kinda funny on a show like this
it is actually normal, I say it all the time. no point in saying "im good how are you" all the time. how you doing has just become another "hi"
I own 2 Fiat 500s... traded my BMW 325 CI on one of em... most fun cars I have owned.
Don't know about you but I am tired of Leno waving his automobile genitalia in my face.
I think the little silver car in the background is a Shogun. It's an older type Fiesta with a drivetrain from an SHO Taurus stuffed in the back seat.
he does own a shogun and it is a beast.
Now I know where to go buy performance mods for the 500 Abarth I'm getting next week. Thanks Jay.
A new decade of muscle AND hot hatches, finally
Thanks Jay!
The Abarth does make for a sweet toy. I'm surprised they can turn up the wick that far without touching the internals, but I'm sure it makes it a huge lot of fun.
