I’ve read that 4x100 fits fine even without “wobble bolts” I’m running Falken all season tires and they’re great and weren’t too expensive. The turning circle is annoying but the Abarth rack is a quicker ratio so I think it’s worth the trade off.
My uk 2013 abarth has slight differences to yours in the US. I have never seen one in the uk with cruise control. If I hold down the TTC button for 10 seconds it does not turn off traction control fully. Minor details, the gear stick shape is different, the boot gauge is in a different place. Those are just a few things I picked up from your video. It’s nice to see the difference between the same year car but in different countries 😊
Yeah the turning circle was a surprise for me when I first bought a Abarth, I ended up kerbing a wheel, the other quirk is how thin the bodywork is, It's so easy to put dents in it when leaning over the car if you have keys in your pocket, now I know about these things I treat the car with kid gloves when cleaning it and parking it.
I think the spare tire isn't included on the Abarth to save weight. Mine also doesn't have it either. But my other 500, a regular 500 does have a spare wheel underneath the trunk.
The euro versions all come with some version of a muffler, in the Uk for example your exhaust cant exceed 70db you can buy the muffler delete but will most likey get you a fine for exessive noise, the turning circle is larger than a stock 500 because of the wheel size, Abarth modify the steering rack with endstops to stop the wheel rubbing on the inner arch, its also why the front wheels are a diffrent size, its a shame the US doesnt get the facelift model as they addressed alot of the pre 2015 model issues, its a much nicer car, my only complaint with my 2018 model is the seat is still way to high, and would like to have seen a telescopic adjustment for the steering wheel.
@Jade Bryony yes you can't turn it off, the only Physicsl way is to disable the Yaw sensor located under the handbrake trim, the black wire gets chopped and a switch added, this also disables ABS, Hill hold, and ESP with warning on dash that ESP is unavailable, All safety features are off except airbags, to reset it, Turn off car then enable the switch and it will be back to normal, I tried it but its very squirmy to drive, and torque steer is horendously strong, and can break traction even in 3rd gear. Be great for track day though 😂
I own a 2013 Abarth 500C - To do this great little car justice, I always want to WARN everybody about this hot little engine. It's very 'fussy' about its spark plugs - Don't use anything but the NGK plugs (NGK Laser Iridium SIKR9A7). Here's why : With SPORT mode off it runs great (fully stock engine) - With SPORT mode on and under 3,500 rpm it runs fine, idles fine, starts fine, slow acceleration/gentle throttle fine. - Now OVER 3500 rpm and at 80-100% throttle, it begins to miss, emanates machine gun popping from the exhaust, acceleration gets interrupted, it coughs and splutters. If I back off a little then gently throttle back on, it's ok, but when pushed it runs like crap. - This is all caused by the very high Boost of the "Sport" mode which creates faulty or OTHER brand plug "Ignition Interruption" inside the combustion chamber...
So, I'm not watching the second half. No muffler is one of the first moments of attraction with the Abarth. It came with a puncture repair kit in the strap under the driver's seat. Replace if missing. And I forgot the first thing you said, sure it was fine
probably bc they don’t want that much power going to the wheels when it’s turned tightly - very hard in CV joints (a known problem w the pop/sport). Power only makes this worse
It sounds like you dont really like the car ,why dont you lot in America stick to your crap cars and leave the real cars to us in Europe ,you lot have know idea
Why does it sound like I don’t like the car? Most of these have been positive and I’ve been enjoying driving it. I’ve also never owned an American car.. but wouldn’t mind one.
@@SimpleCarGuy if you did owned a American car then you would find out what a crap is really like you would be doing a video titled " Here is a million things I hate about my car".
Rude. American Abarth owner, never would've thought things that are more common in other parts of the world might seem strange to us. That's the whole point of owning an Abarth 500 in the States.
Thanks everyone for watching, check out my video on all the things I love about the FIAT 500: th-cam.com/video/zGIeaKWcnEE/w-d-xo.html

4x98mm bolt pattern is Fiat specific. My 1977 Fiat 124 spider uses the same pattern. As does Lancia and Maserati 4 bolt cars.
I imagine it's much more popular in Europe as I've never seen on here in the states. Would be cool to have a Lancia from the old days!
Hill start doesn't only for in reverse.....also does when ur climbing a hill going forward
4 x 98 has had this bolt pattern for many years
But it is an odd pattern for North America, wheel adapters 4x100 are commonly available for Fiats.

I have a spare tyre in my 2013 abarth, I’m in the uk 😊
I love it so much!

I believe the wide turning circle is because of the placement of the inter coolers.
You might be right! I haven’t really looked into it much.
Vairon 1200ryder and the comparatively large and wide wheels on such a small car.
The turning circle has to do with the steering ratio. The non abarth models have a better turning circle.
There's a ton of wheel and tires to choose from 205 45 16 will fit perfect with no rubbing at all.
Thanks! I see why many people use other sizes, still the original size of the tire is pretty unusual.
@@SimpleCarGuy My Abarth came with 17inch wheels standard from factory with tyres the same size back and front .
@@SimpleCarGuy mine has from the factory 205/40/17 84 W

What year is your car? It’s got a series 3 steeling wheel, rear lights, front grille and radio/vent setup but series 4 window switches.
I don't think we have series here, it's a 2013 year model. Everything is OEM as far as I know.
The US model 500s are different to make them US compliant. We got different sized rear lights compared to Europe
in order to flash the headlights, you pull the stalk towards you, might want to read the manual 🙄
Thanks a lot for clarifying it, man! I'm only looking to buy one and it looked quite inconvenient because we use light signals a lot over here
Change to 205 / 45 / R16, full size spare was a rare factory option.
I was surprised too how bad it turns in a circle. My old 1985 Toyota 4Runner turns in half the distance in a circle
That's what sports suspension does, I guess!
4 wheel drive..

I always laugh that with this tiny car I have to do Austin Powers turns in situations where a bigger car could just turn around normally🤡
Oh forgot to mention that there is an air compressor under the drivers seat, have a look 👀
4x100 wheels with wobble bolts will fit. If you aren't scared of wobble bolts.
Ehhh, I’m not sure how comfortable I am with wobble bolts, but it might be worth a try since I have two sets from my Mini Cooper S.
Can you pass inspection without a muffler
This is stock, so yes. There is probably a resonator and it doesn’t go over a limit
Wow he’s nearly 5’11 ie 5’10.
Depends on the shoes I'm wearing, I could even be 6ft tall!
Nah I'm 6,2 and my mates are all the taller or the same I'll just remove the rear seats 🤣
Great option as well,, you'll be able to actually fit stuff in there now!
@@SimpleCarGuy yeah I just bought a carpet to go over the bare metal, also 2 months in and love the car done abit already gonna map to 230 next month

Why don't you give your driving experience, this car is known for it
Good suggestion, but there are so many videos of people talking about how cool it is to drive and how it’s like a go cart.

Yes, it is. That’s how these Abarth came from factory.
