nah, why nobody talks about Zhu Yuanzhang AKA Emperor Hongwu.
He defeated the Mongols, under the Mongol's ruling Han Chinese are almost completely divided into to different ethnic groups. He united Han Chinese, Han is the majority in China, without him, this group will break into multiple and which definitely will lead to more civil wars.

@ are we looking at this through hindsight or a modern perspective on values? Other rulers to include Qing Gaozong also had their moments. Let’s take for example Qing Gaozong having the largest corruption ever in imperial Chinese history (I.e. Heshen). Not endorsing his particular methods, but Ming Taizu and others in his shoes did more to start a dynasty whereas Qing Gaozong’s reign was the bridge in which his dynasty finally collapsed.

It would be great if the public opinion in this world was not controlled by certain international organizations. I hope that people all over the world can understand each other's culture. The inability of human beings to unite is the biggest mistake of human beings. When we face unknown threats from outer space, if we still don't know how to unite, then human beings will pay a heavy price. Therefore, it is the biggest regret of human beings that some countries are currently provoking regional conflicts to maintain their own advantages.

      @@tc2334 To be continued:
Tang history is written by those traditional scholars at that time which are unreliable. You can't cite one reliable source that proves your claim but come to say she was not great but most sources say otherwise.
China has long history of painting men as heroes ignoring their amount of cruelty. Just like how china presents history's biggest mass killer Mao as national hero. Yeh If there were no camera, the world would never know his true face. Chinese historians would paint him like true hero who made China great just like how u calling those oppressers as great. A great ruler is one who bring peace and empower it's people and not oppresses and kills them to showcase his power.
Okay she is not a great ruler for u but she is a great ruler according to most reliable sources because she brought peace and empowered all of its people without bias unlike other Chinese emperor whose aim was mostly to oppress and rule.
And Tang dynasty became largely prosperous because of Wu zetian's contribution. This is written in British encyclopedia. Now prove them wrong?
If u don't know all of this, then it means u have been either reading wrong history all this time Or u never read it. And I know many Chinese from various platforms who say she was a great ruler. So ur argument that most do not agree becomes invalid. It also means that u never read history written by credible writer or u are not good at history or trying to reinterpret it to suit ur agenda.
And don't run away from argument.

In the minds of most Chinese people, the only recognized "one emperor through the ages" is Qin Shihuang.
There are also three other candidates,
Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty Li Shimin,
Emperor Wu of the Han Dynasty Liu Che,
and Emperor Gaozu of the Ming Dynasty Zhu Yuanzhang.
The remaining other emperors are ranked among these four emperors.
Behind, behind is Song Taizu Zhao Kuangyin,
Zhu Di, the Yongle Emperor of the Ming Dynasty,
Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty,
Emperor Wen of the Sui Dynasty Yang Jian ,etc.
This is the mainstream view in China (there have been hundreds of emperors in Chinese history, and these are generally recognized. Genghis Khan is not a Chinese emperor, and the Mongolian Empire did not integrate Chinese Han culture)

Another point of knowledge is that the Chinese now call themselves "descendants of Yan and Huang", which means the descendants of the Yellow Emperor and the Yan Emperor (actually there is another one named Chi You, who lost to the Yellow Emperor, but he still has descendants to this day). Huangdi and Yandi were also brothers, but because they were not dynasties at that time, they were tribal leaders. In the subsequent Xia, Shang, and Zhou dynasties, since no more dynasty records have been found, we only know that there were such emperors, and very little about their deeds has been discovered. Therefore, when Chinese people evaluate the achievements of emperors, they generally do not include them. But starting from Qin Shihuang

No that is not true. The New York Times came out with a hit piece against Shen Yun, probably at the behest of the Chinese communist party. My co host Jared is an MC for Shen Yun and I have been a supporter and promoter for Shen Yun for many years. We support the show because we believe they are doing great work to revive traditional Chinese performing arts and culture. As for the accusations, it is a world class arts company, so of course the standard is very high and the training is hard, a "journalist" can easily spin that how they want to. NYT only interviewed people who left Shen Yun with negative stories and ignored the large number of people with positive stories about their time in the company. Even one guy who was interviewed who said mostly positive and a few negative things, said to us afterwards that the New York Times only used the negative stuff he said in the article and ignored the positive. You can check out our video on Shen Yun on our channel for our take

Wu Zetian was a great emperor and the only female emperor in Chinese history. However, China has too many emperors. The emperor had hundreds of people. Among them, she is not ranked at the forefront, only ranked between 20-30.This is the current mainstream view in China. Ranking among the top 30 emperors among hundreds of emperors is already very impressive.

@@alexk5772 I don't agree wd u. I've read abt her well. She is easily among the top 5 great emperors considering the important works she did that made her empire so prosperous and peaceful. Not to mention, She broke gender stereotypes abt women at the time by lifting them to a position equal to men.
Chinese views are mostly shaped by her distorted history written by confucian scholars at the time which I also understand why many chinese thinks that. It will take time to change that view.

@@badmashdogesh3939 I am Chinese and I should know the emperor of China better than you. I'm somewhat interested in these too. The rankings I'm talking about are just the mainstream views in China. The evaluation of Wu Zetian is still very high. As for the improvement of women's status you mentioned, it actually only had an effect during her reign, and then returned to its original state. In the Song Dynasty, the situation became even more serious. In fact, Qin Shihuang also did this kind of thing. But you also know that due to the constraints of Confucianism, the status of women in ancient China has never been very good. Merits that do not affect future generations are of little use. The improvement of the status of Chinese women only changed after the 18th century.

Overall your list was good. But I would replace Kangxi with either Kublai Khan or King Da Yu of Xia. Kangxi just benefitted greatly from having a well-established dynasty thanks to his father, grandfather, and great uncles hard work. He was also blessed with good health which resulted in the long-term rule.
Kublai Khan unified all of china after many years of civil war among the warlords and led to the beginning of the dominance of the mongolian Empire which allowed China to expand greatly in territorial conquest.
Da Yu, also known as Yu the great, is famous for controlling floods which saved many lives and increased in crop yields. Although he is likely to be more of a mythical ruler like the Yellow Emperor as there are not enough evidence to suggest his actual existence. Based on the findings that was left behind, he is said to be one of the most benevolent rulers in history and is now considered to be a water deity.

    - Han Gaozu/Liu Bang isn't as easy as you said. On paper, he was weak and pretty much naive but he was actually a real scheming and in no better ways to say it, an utter scheming bastard. So before he started to rebel, he was a simple constable and was bringing a bunch of prisoners to build the mausoleum for Qin Shihuang but as he was taking a break, the prisoners escaped and by law, he would be executed next for letting the prisoners break free. He then released the remaining prisoners that didn't flee and they became a band and took up an empty fort at Mount Mangdang in Henan. He schemed his way thru by acting blur and pitiful all the time to become the sole power that could rival Xiang Yu. Even after Xiang Yu's death, he didn't stop scheming either as after the Han dynasty was established, he had most of his nation builder leaders killed and one most notorious event was when he schemed soo hard to have his grand marshal of the nation, Han Xin, violently assassinated and had his entire family killed. Yes, he's one of China's greatest emperors but it's not that simple on his character.
    - Kangxi and Qianlong are both considered the best Qing emperors out there or one of the few greatest emperors of all time for China. Kangxi stabilized the country thru more laxed legal system for the Han population and massively promote cultural acceptance for both sides and instead of promoting just Manchu/Jurchen members of staff in the Forbidden City, he did it too with Han ministers which made more and more Han Chinese willingly to serve the system abeit he too faced tons of opposition against his rule cuz, I mean, he's Manchu ruling against Han Chinese population. However, he's known to always been rather relaxed on such underground groups despite multiple records stating that they're often tried to take his life but he still let them off. Qianlong was another great emperor that he actually expanded the country by quite alot by entering into Ugyhur, Kazahks and even unified Mongolia under Qing rule. However, that did bankrupt the treasury due to his extravagant wars but at its heyday, Qianlong was a real great leader that forwarded what Kangxi was doing and he voluntarily abdicate to his son after holding power for 61 years just so he could not "outshine his grandfather" who he thought was the ultimate emperor of China and the success Kangxi had built.

    Wrong info on this one.
    Han Gaozu.
Liu Bang is NOT a smart nor good person. Hes a conman. Just so happended that he's family bought a captain position for him in his village, but he bullied his way to get things done. And juat happend that the Qin Empsror is recruiting soldiers to quell rebels, and its nearby his village. He was made into a leader of a group of soldiers consists of his bully friends in the village. He also forced recruitment of able men in the village to help him to fight the rebels.
As the story goes, and later he became a lord, he also doesn't show any leadership nor capabilities to to lead or fight wars. He even look down on his greatest general, Han Xin. He is the sole person single handedly safe Liu Bang and conquer the whole China from the famous warlord Xiang Yu. Without Han Xin, there is no Han Dynasty.
When he unified China, he killed Han Xin and his other loyal generals that followed his since the beginning. He also stole Qin strategist Li Si's works on legal system, and claimed as his. It was Li Si, the person who single handedly drafted the whole legal system for Qin Shi Huang.
So basically, he just stole all the works from Qin to rule. That's it. So he's a conman who did nothing. No contributions whatsoever to the Dynasty.

She pioneered the meritocracy based system by electing capable officials in the court entirely through their merit irrespective of their background. Brought equality to men and women. Women enjoyed unprecedented freedom and say in political matters that never been seen before or since. She was also successful in expanding her empire to central Asia which no other previous emperors were successful. They are some of her great accomplishments. You seem to know know nothing.
