Thanks for adjusting the intro music, I didn't have to pull of my headphones this time. That's a pretty cool looking billet, I think the plates on the ends add to the look.
..Congratulations on 20,000+ Tim !!! ⚒⚒🎈🎇🎆🎇 You are the Flame and we merely the moths that are drawn. That is a Wicked looking hammer. Can't wait for James to do it up and pound something with it...!!
Nice job, but extra improved plow steel is either 1080 or higher carbon steel if I remember rite. More than hard enough for a hammer face, actually a bit too high for my preference, but easy enough to temper back. Be interesting to see the finished product.
wire rope for cranes, both the load line and wire checkers are made of IPS or improved plow steel. not sure of the composition but that is what it is called in the industry
I watched some Japanese blacksmith videos that demo forge welding hard faces on a softer hammer billet to create good faces and maybe a less expensive more forgiving hammer body.
That is a very cool Billet. One day I'll get around to doing that myself
Great job!
Congratulations on 20,000 Tim...
Thanks Olivia and thanks for watching.
