    I was very impressed by this review. That seems like a really cool option, with dual calibers. The ammo on the .22 TCM is reasonably priced, and the fact that Armscor reloads the ammo for a reduced price... and it's a reasonably priced 1911 (although not .45, oh well). This just showed up on my wish list.

    I have this 22tcm/9mm pistol as well. I also bought a .38 super comp barrel and with minimal fitting got that to work as well. Actually, it seems to work even better than the 9mm or 22tcm barrels. Just use the 9mm spring and you are good to go!
    Love this pistol!!

      Forgot to add that you can also fire the 22tcm9r ammo through this gun as well!

    For 40 years I carried a Colt 45acp 1911. Earlier this year I bought a RIA 1911 A-1, 22TCM/9R, and I love it. In the 1990’s I bought my son-in-law a RIA 45acp 1911, which he liked, but I wouldn’t have bought it for myself due to the fit and finish. 2020, pistols are a different animal. The fit and finish is second to none, plus RIA (ARMSCOR) put a new logo on the pistol which isn’t the huge billboard that was on previous models. My local gun shop carries plenty of ARMSCOR ammo and at a great price. 100 rounds of TCM ammo for $29.00.

    Thank you for the review. Earlier today I asked Mrgunsngear about a review of this handgun and he pointed me your way. It answered all of the questions I had about the weapon itself, the TCM cartridge, and how RIA worked the 9mm into the package. Subscribed.

    Well after coming out from under my rock this past weekend I met with the guys from Rock Island at the NRA convention in Nashville and was informed of the 22 TCM for the first time (I know I'm late, I said I was under a rock). After hearing about the performance of the round and the fact that it came with a 9mm barrell as well all for around a $600 price mark. I was sold. Most of the information given came not from a Rock Island rep but from an enthusiast in the crowd that was passing by. Awesome firearm!

    I've been pretty impressed with Rock Island Armory products. I bought my first RIA a couple years ago - it is their .45acp 1911 "tactical" model. Was very impressed with how tightly all the parts fit and even more impressed with how accurate it was. It definitely gives my Kimber 1911 a run for its money for accuracy. I sent my RIA 1911 to Nevada and had their gunsmith Arnel install Trijicon sights, as well as give my gun a match grade trigger job. I've had 100% reliability with my RIA 1911.

    Great video!!! I have a RIA .45acp and absolutely love it. I'm gonna have to get a RIA 22tcm/9mm
    now after seeing your review. I've been looking at glocks and sigs but have not been satisfied with the look and feel of either. I love the 1911 and how durable they are. Thanks for the great review!!

    I’ve always been a 1911 fanboy. Mine are all 45 APC. Never shot one in 9mm but have always wanted to. I think it his will be my next handgun purchase. 2 calibers in 1 gun, what a great deal!! Love the fireball from the 22 TCM and 2000+ FPC, WOW what more can you ask for??!!
    Thanks for the review.

    I have the tactical version, light rail, fiber optic sights, fantastic grips, 10 round mags (comes with 2 mags and a load assist), and LOVE this pistol! All you said and more is true. A 9mm PLUS the 22TCM in a high quality 1911 format for about $650. Are you KIDDING me? Best value in the market! Two things to add:The reloading of spent brass program was discontinued some time ago. I'm just guessing but I think they offered that as an inducement to try the round and get it out into the market. But they don't do it anymore, so don't expect to get that deal. But it is correct that a box of 50 rounds can be had now in the $18 - $20 range, all you want.Second, if you get the pistol and like the 22TCM, they also make a wonderful bolt action rifle chambered for it. Beautiful rifle, well checkered, Schnabel front end, 5 round box mag, hardwood stock. MSRP is only $460 and it can be bought around $375 or so. The Gallery of Guns item number is 51108 - but good luck finding one. A scare rifle, bought as soon as they appear. But if you have both, go to the range with the pistol and the rifle in tow, have a great day shooting all sorts of targets. Your face will hurt from all the grinning you'll do. Other shooters will appear from nowhere to see what is causing all that sound and fury and muzzle blast ring. And maybe best of all, your hand and shoulder won't be sore at all.Think about it - own a quality 1911 - 2 of them, really - and a beautiful bolt action rifle, all for $1,000. How you gonna beat that?

    I bought a new 9mm-22TCM blued and loved shooting the 22TCM for $25 per 50 rounds in Tennessee. But it jammed every full magazine even after 200 rounds. Seller said it was a common problem and sold me two new Wilson Combat mags for $50 each. They worked perfectly but I was so aggravated with the factory Rock Island single stack mags I immediately traded off that gun.

    Great info on this 1911. I have been looking at a few dealers that carry this in my area and some of the user reviews state that you have to also change the extractor when you convert the barrel and spring to 9mm. Some say this is correct and others stated theirs only came with 1 extractor marked 22TCM and it works for both calibers. All said the pistol and caliber kicks ass.

    • @gilbertmiller2491
      @gilbertmiller2491 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, this pistol comes with 2 extractors 1 for 22 TCM and 1 form 9 mm but you can use either on both calibers. When my 22 extractor broke (under 100 rounds) I used the 9 mm extractor. Everything I stated in my comment happened to me at the first range day. I wish this pistol had better quality control because I lover the 22 TCM round.

    Great vid Sootch. I have to say that even though the .22 TCM round is entertaining and looking at the velocity - wow is the best word that comes to mind. However, the most impressive aspect of this 1911 is that it comes with a 9mm barrel. I know that a lot of companies are making 9mm for the 1911, however, they usually charge an arm and a leg. Needless to say, I would end up switching the barrel out and not looking back. Great vid and thanks for the info - I'll keep my eyes out for one!

    On .22TCM: is there anywhere I can learn more about this cartridge? What do you think about it? It seems like a pretty legitimate choice, considering that it's center fire instead of rim fire.

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures ปีที่แล้ว

      It's fun and good 'pistol caliber'. Parent case is 223 rem, good for reloading. Low/no recoil in a 1911 pistol but you get fireballs. There's the M22 bolt action rifle, some had QC issues and bad barrels. The AR Guy Custom Solutions makes a 16" carbine AR. It's a good cartridge. But RIA Armscor need to support it better.

    Great video but just wanted to add my $.02! The combo 22TCM/9mm comes with a 7lb/12lb spring along with both barrels and an additional extractor. The extractor needs to be changed when swapping over to 9mm. I have talked to several reliable sources and all have informed me that ARMSCOR/Rock island will be discontinuing the 22 TCM/9mm combo due to many issues of people not swapping/forgetting to change springs, etc.... They will continue to make the 22 TCM but are going to stop the combo A2's stateside, so scoop one up if you run across one. I bought 2 and absolutely love them! Been a lot of fun load developing and if anyone has heard different please chime in! Stay safe and happy shooting!

    Picked up my RIA 22TCM yesterday. Didn't have any 22TCM ammo so figured I'd put the 9MM barrel in and shoot that. It was a breeze switching out the barrel and spring...BUT......then I read in the literature that came with the pistol: " WHEN INSTALLING THE 9MM CONVERSION, YOU MAY HAVE TO HAVE A QUALIFIED PERSON TO INTALL THE 9MM EXTRACTOR, AS IT REQUIRES SOME SPECIALIZED TECHNIQUE TO REMOVE THE TCM EXTRACTOR, AND TO SET THE TENSION OF THE 9MM EXTRACTOR IN YOUR SLIDE." What' up with that??!!

    Actually the term 2011 was coined to refer to the wide-bodied 1911 styled pistols. I had one of the first ones out there by Chip McCormick if I recall correctly. They are also made or have been made by STI and SVI over the past number of years. Also, Para-Ordnance has their own proprietary version which is the P series. I have a P-14 .45 which is a great gun in a classic caliber with a lot of rounds for a .45 ACP pistol. I hope that helps.

    Don't let that scare you. The extractor is easy to remove. Remove the firing pin stop. Gently tap out the extractor and tap in the other one. I found that my 22 TCM extractor worked great for 9mm so I leave it in.

    Para mags don't work in mine with the .22 TCM but they're OK with 9mm. I'd stay with the Mec Gars that come with it. You should show the extractor swap- it's a little tricky at first.

    you CANNOT use stock Para mags with this gun. It is the same mag but the feed lips have been modified. Because of the longer overall length of the TCM the feed lips have been cut back to allow an earlier release of the cartridge.

    Would the .22 TCM work in a single stack gun with the same barrel ad recoil spring change? Or is there something proprietary about this gun? Also, it would be interesting to compare it to 5.7x28.

    Theres several selling points on this gun one that badass little 22TCM round..I know availability is kinda hit or miss but wait you can change the barrel and recoil spring and still shoot.I'd like to see someone do that with the more expensive 5.7? Actually a .22TCM is a necked down .223/5.56x45. If you hold a .22TCM and a 9mm together the .22TCM case is longer. This is for the reloaders out there.

    • @CPHannigan
      @CPHannigan 11 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Not true. The .22 TCM uses a different rim and extractor groove on the case. It has its own case with no true parent case.

    now they need a 22lr conversion for this Pistol. I have this same one and I love it. I have had some problems with the hang up's and casing splits were it hold the round. might need a new barrel since I have used it a lot. but to get a slide and a mage to fix this double stack would be great and also 25 round mags. so I can shot for days on the cheap. Because the 22TCM's are a bit expensive. I have found Full metal 22 TCM's and it will go though 1/4 in steal like butter.

    Is the recoil impulse comparable to the 22lr? Or closer to a 9mm? I already have a 1911 chambered in 22lr and if they have similar recoil impulses I can do the bulk of my training with the 22lr And save a whole lot of money

    • @BAdventures
      @BAdventures ปีที่แล้ว

      Recoil out of a 1911 is similar to 22lr. No/low recoil. More the action cycling. You will get a fireball though. Parent case is 223 rem, good for reloading. 22TCM 9R Improved, forming 223 cases (5.56x24mm) th-cam.com/video/eYvCvHMBP-U/w-d-xo.html
