I absolutely love this strategy! This Pet Tamer has been a thorn in my side for so long because I don't have the Magical Crawdad. I can beet him with 3 pets, but I hadn't been able to work out a solid 2 pet strategy. Thank you so much!
Tip: Dancing water Skimmer (water jet - healing wave - pump); Carry pet (lvl 1); Snowfeather Hatchling (Falcosaur Swarm - Crouch - predatory strike) 1: dancing water skimmer -> pump and switch to carry 2: switch to snowfeather hatchling and use crouch 3. Falcosaur swarm (2 Rounds) 5. Predatory Strike - CRUSHER dies 6. I had to giggle doing this one. You know Hazel, you are really so good at what you do. Your strategy worked flawlessly, and was great to hear you narrate this, and when you mention how it feels depressing looking at main pet not losing much health, I was feeling that way, and I was thinking how nice it was however, that the backline pets were almost wiped out, and then on cue, you touch on that as well. The key to your strategy is most definitely the exact pet (Syd the Squid), otherwise not gonna work. I have seen 1 or 2 of your other guides in which you used Syd, and I didn't have him at the time, but as I was working towards acquiring more pets, eventually I got him, and I'm happy to have him, he's pretty neat. As for some who are frustrated that they don't have the exact pets for most of the guide videos, I suggest you really check out all of her posts, because while *SOME* do require precisely the same pet/breed, MOST are interchangeable with other select and more commonly available pets, and Hazel usually tells you the breeds and abilities of the "Alternatives" you might find easier to attain. I got into pet battles because I wanted the Aqir mount from Uldum daily quests. Sometimes you were required to do pet battle stuff, so I forced myself to get into pets. I'm imagining Blizzard wanted more people like myself (who pretty much thought it was a waste of time, but never actually tried it) to get into it and realize that this turn-based game-within-a-game was pretty fun actually, and is sweet because you can do things at your own pace. As an adult that cannot spend all day, EVERY day playing wow, I can really appreciate pet battles so much more. Don't give up if you're getting frustrated that you don't have some of these "Famous" pets that Hazel typically uses. It takes time to build up to anywhere near that level, and many have been working on it for years. I got into pets a few months ago, and have been working on overdrive to get them. But it's not just quantity, it's quality. Search for where to find these pets, the mods to use, and you'll find that it gets faster and better. Eventually I got many of the famous pets (Thanks to guides like Hazel's, getting me curious about those pets, and how to find them). Also, don't forget to do world quests which reward the pet charms (Both Legion and BFA charms world quests), which let you buy pets from various vendors, upgrade and level-boosting items, bandages and toys. Also, plan to take advantage of Pet Week, when the Sigil of the Critter bonus is up. It boosts pet XP by 200%, and when combined with xp boosting pet snacks, can give you almost 300% more xp. You'll EASILY max level many pets in that week. Happens once a month, so don't miss out, and you'll catch up in no time.
Hazel... you're the BEST! I hate this guy, and have tried so many different strats on him for leveling pets, and it's always a close call at best or a failed attempt. I think I've spent 10 hours just at this one guy trying different things over the years. THANK YOU!
thanks soooo much for this video. i tried to beat Shu with a Plushie on my team for 3 days, tried a dozen teams, some of which were highly recommended but non worked 'cos RNG was against me. But this one worked like a charm :) Thank you!
I had to level up Syd lol and I had a dread hatchling that has call darkness, nocturnal strike, and shadow talon which worked great. My leveling pet was a fel bat pup. Thanks!
Wastwalker Shu has been NERFED, now you are lucky to get one lvl out of him, and the same for Cryssa. Seems that they are nerfing everything these days..., but fun while it lasted.
I find the “Bloodbeak” pet to work awesomely, as my Nightwath Swooper, was in the #1 slot as a ‘baby’ who grew to lvl 17 in that fight... can’t beat that. I have never had a ‘baby’ lvl that high in one fight.
Love the videos, please keep them coming. I have been trying to put together a solid pet leveling strat for Lil Timmy and could use your help if you get bored and want a new challenge... :-)
use ikky instead of the owl if you don't have a leveled owl, ikky kills in 3 rounds if that. just black claw and flock will kill crab then black claw and a talon should kill the porcupine
There's heaps actually. Aki, Thundering Spirit, Air Spirit, Hyuna and Zushi are all safe for level 1. You can actually use two level 1 pets with Yon and Ashlei. Both are all safe for level 1 pets, but the XP will be split so the gains won't be as high. It's still a nice boost though.
This strat does not work anymore as his whirlpool hits harder and you don't get to that 2nd bubble in time so you now have to start with syd then bring in a lvl 1 pet after you have killed the back line ones
I cant even level pets normally anymore since the legion changes. I'm about ready to dump 4 million gold worth of pets on the AH and say fuck pet battles. This isn't even relative content anymore. I refuse to spend a shit ton of gold on battle pets.
this worked well for me today, wasn't my usual way but worked really well, i couldn't kill second backline pet but his first move was a sandstorm which was not a big deal the owl can take it out in 1 hit
sigh...I have over 500 pets, yet these guides always use pets that I still don't have.

This strat seems to be out of date as my Syd keeps dying on me befour Pounder is dead, Note this is now June 2019.

Scourged Whelpling works quite well in lieu of owl...hazel called it the call darkness is key.
Long-Eared Owl or Fledgling Warden Owl have the exact same moves as Nightwatch Swooper. Though that pet looks awesome. :)

Well sans syd the squid here so I can't use this strat gah this frustrating.
Just a tip:
If your leveling pet has around 400hp, you can solo this fight with a Red Cricket.
