Dick Schulze (76) didn't take up snowboarding until his early 50s. Since then, he has competed in amateur and professional events around the world, including the 2006 Olympic Qualifiers, in which he competed against Shaun White.

I started snowboarding at 34. 48 now doing black and some double black diamonds out west. Take a lesson first and build on that. Good luck!!

I was in this class that was recorded. He is a really good teacher. I’m from Brazil and I never had snowboarding before. I wasn’t scare but I had 0 skills on it, even tho I had so much fun learning because he was super kind. I had to ask the same thing many many times (cause I struggle with English sometimes) and he was very patient. I will, for sure, get more practice when I have another opportunity. I loved it. respect. my dad's 70, i'm 40, my son is 8, we all snowboard. snowboarding together on the weekend together is one of the best part of life at the moment. oh yeah, the 8 year old already surpassed grandpa last year, this year he might surpass me..if he tries hard enough, but i'm not done pushing myself yet, still improving and learning new tricks, so it's a contest between me n' my son (of course it's only a matter of time he'll be way better than I ever will be... can't wait for that day)

Dick, I think I am older than you and instruct at Cascade Mountain in Portage WI and at Lutsen MN. I just finished my 24th year of boarding since taking my first lesson at age 59 at Brighton UT. I sure plan to keep doing it. You can see me ride in "82 year old snowboarder Bob Bell" on TH-cam. I love your video!

Omg…Im 52 almost, been snowboarding for 4 years now…on east cost, there is not much I can do. But I wait all 8 to 10 months just to snowboard. Its my safety place…my peace!
