The Double is stellar. Quality hasn't gone down through the drama yet am loving it
Is it an "A" drama?? Cause the quality of the whole drama is fantastic. And dang the FL & ML is good! And despite their lack interaction i'm sooo loving and waiting to see them together. If only all idol drama has this kind of quality... lol i just really hope the quality won't drop in later episodes..
I completely agree! Love the main two leads and their characters! They have amazing chemistry!
Best thing about this is the dialogue and script of the drama. So many hidden innuendos in the words between ML and FL, that you have to think about and process what the true meaning is behind said words
I was really worried about how they would adapt the book, because this author is SO GOOD, but they are really doing justice to the feel / characters (obviously not following the events 100%, that’s impossible). Super happy with this drama

I am obsessed with The Double. I love the unique take on the revenge aspect in that one of the “villains” (ex hubby) is almost a sympathetic character and we are witnessing his descent into borderline madness - gives his character a lot of depth and complexities - while the other is a truly detestable person whom I am waiting with baited breath to see fall. All professional and capable actors. FL is a bit mature for this role (I’m over 30-40 somethings playing teenagers) but absolutely forgivable in the face of her talent. Her visibly shaking glares. Her crying scenes. So good!
But her character is supposed to be an adult. She had previously been married for years.
She´s more beautiful now than when she was a teen, and far better actress

Watched all the eps on The Double uploaded so far. Mesmerising and gripping plot. As of now, one of the best and intriguing cdramas of 2024. Not to mention, the sad and haunting ost which is so apt in this drama. Both ML and FL delivering stellar performances, esp in ep 11, during the qu qin competition, brought tears to my eyes. Hopefully, this drama will continue to soar to greater heights.

The Double is such a great show. The plot is solid and there's not a single boring moment. My fav 2024 chinese show. Wang Xingyu and the fl are spectacular in their roles. Xingyu looks so damn handsome while I can't look away from the fl whenever she's onscreen.. she looks so ethereal and is made for these period shows. Their chemistry is so good even though they haven't had many scenes together yet. I hope this show wins awards.
Currently watching the double and it is really worth it. Both the plot and chemistry between male and female lead is so good that I couldn’t skip a scene. Highly recommend to watch it!

I have to say,The Double is the best Cdrama so far this year. Every episode has me hooked. The story reminds me of Princess Wei Young. WJY is meang for historical dramas. It suits her more than modern dramas. Everything about the drama is amazing(story,cinematography,costumes,characters etc).

I am very touched about the story involved You Benchang, the extraordinary 80 years old actor in Blossom Shangai (impossible to watch for me in Europe: I never will sign for netflix whatsoever... I am against this US channel ...) and the comment given by Hu Ge.... Hu Ge has spoken the truth, with admiration, with mindful words, with awe for the extraordinary personality, commitment and artistic knowledge showed by Hu Ge, not only in Blossom Shangai but in his entire carriere... Thank you Marcus, for having followed the story and given us this beautiful comment of the main lead actor of this (surely) masterpiece....

The double se convertirá en el mayor éxito del año. Es un drama espectacular. Al principio encontré a la actriz protagonista un poco mayor para el rol, se supone tiene 20 años en el drama y ella tiene 33 en la vida real, pero a medida que vas viendo los capítulos, te das cuenta porque la eligieron. Ella es fantástica. Se mete en el papel y te hace vivirlo. Él como siempre bello y perfecto en sus actuaciones. Todos los actores en general son perfectos y la fotografía y la música también. Aquí nos encontramos con un buen director y me hace recordar al precioso Love Like a galaxy, pero aquí con más medios, se ve que es un drama con mucho presupuesto. Disfruto de cada capítulo porque todos son distintos y muy sobrecogedores 😂😂.

Enjoying The Double so far, there r some hints of feminsm, maybe since the protagonist is a woman. The pacing is good, the story is engaging, actors r good. Hope the quality continues, especially in the script part and be consistent until end.

Jin Yong is always my favorite so I am definitely looking forward to Legend of Heroes. Seems they will de-focus the story from Huang Rong and Guo Jing in this adaptation, which is an interesting approach. Let's see if it works.

I’m glad Hidden Charm passed review. Legend of Heroes has been releasing stuff every day, so I also think it’s gearing towards release. Heroes DB rating was also released yesterday; an impressive 8.1; I gave it a 9. Was very happy with it. The Double is great; I’m really enjoying it and WXY is really nailing it not to mention his costumes and fans; I still can’t believe the actor is only 22 years old. His and FL’s characters have great chemistry in the few scenes I’ve seen them together. Can’t wait for them to officially join forces. Now that’s a power couple; both are extremely intelligent and his martial arts skills are awesome too. Think the DB score is a bit too low though. Thanks for the update.

The Double is fantastic so far! First time watching dramas with these leads and I'm impressed with both. There has only been 3 dramas that have hooked me this year: Legend of Shenli, The Wonder, and The Double.

Totally agree. Wang Yan is a great actor who deserves the award. Though the younger actor has to wait for a while I'm sure his time to be awarded will come soon enough.
I think the problem is that he isnt the first lead and many people think he should have been nominated as assistant role.

Neither Wang Yan nor Wang Yibo should have been nominated, they were neither especially compelling. Their acting did not evoke strong emotions in me in any way.
@@nathalianobre1395 I'm afraid if Wang Yang was not nominated still that wouldn't help Wang Yibo to get the award. There are at least 5 reasons why, and first and foremost the jury would never nominate anyone in their twenties.
I started watching The Double as Wang Xing Yue was listed as the ML. WXY has presence despite his young age (still only 22 years old) & already has an impressive series of successful performances under his belt. The cast members of the projects he undertakes always seem to include a happy combination of equally talented actors of his own generation together with an array of "older" colleagues who have long proved their "acting" chops. The plot of the drama The Double is not strong on originality but does have some refreshing features eg the FL is seeking justice rather than mindless revenge; some of the characters who commit heinous acts are victims of circumstances rather than unexplainable greed & the evil doers will clearly pay for their crimes with time. It is always good to see that evil does not ultimately triumph! The Douban rating seems a bit on the low side. In my opinion, overall, the drama deserves a rating of around 7.5 (& a great deal more 4 star votes). The "predictability" of the plot is probably behind the relative scarcity of 5 star votes.
I am yet to watch The Double since I have not finished JOL 2. It will be in my watch list. I love thrilling dramas

Initially I did not want to start watching double but since I had nothing to watch I started it and I was glued to it till I watched all 13 episodes in a go. I would recommend everyone to watch it
IMO The double is just too good for that score. I wish more people will watch it.

The op rate for "The Double" is too low because the drama is really good. I wish we had more of the real Jiang Li even as a "ghost". The actress and her character is so adorable. I also love Tong and the smart Duke and double, the adorable silly cousin and Li team at school and of course I'm looking forward to Jiang family and her ex family to suffer. This one and Spirit Fox Matchmaker Red Moon Pact ate the ones I'm watching right now and so far loving them.
The Double is a great drama and love to watch Wang Jin Yue. Wu Jin Yan is a good actress but find her role suits someone younger. In the drama she took the identity of a girl below the age of twenty but she looks thirty plus. Zhou Ye would have been more suitable for this role.

I watched 6 eps of The Double and it's great. Hooray to Youku and the team behind the drama, and surely hooray to Wang Xing Yue, who really rocks it). The first time I saw him in One&Only, and during this 3 years he is getting better and better.

The thing with War of Faith was like this: the producers and director of the series nominated ONLY Wang Yang in the category of "best leading actor", an award that would only correspond in this case to Wang Yibo since Wang Yang and his character only correspond to "supporting actor". Why did they do this? To secure a prize since it is well known that the judges of this award give priority to age and are quite prejudiced against "traffic" artists like Wang Yibo as several previous cases have already proven. To say that they also included Yibo's candidacy is a lie because it was not what they said at the beginning, and when they did it it was because the problem was already very big, plus some people in the industry such as directors and film critics have spoken out (because of this problem) to say that it is not an isolated case and they usually do this to many young actors who are "sacrificed" to keep the sacred cows of the industry happy. The fact that many days after the problem broke out, everyone came out at the same time to make statements speaks to the fact that there really was a very strong conflict between all the parties and they only recently reached an agreement, because before yesterday no one came out to say nothing. IQIYI was forced to come out and make a statement right after thousands of Yibo fans canceled their VIP subscriptions when the platform (wanting to convince the audience that it was in fact Wang Yang and not Wang Yibo the protagonist) very conveniently changed the posters of the series that throughout the promotion of the series had WeiRuolai (WangYibo) in the center for new posters that showed ShenTunan (wang yang) as the main figure, then later they returned the poster to it's original state. Wang Yang and his wife have also had their part in aggravating the problem, one by deleting and blocking people who question his candidacy on his networks and his wife making fun of the matter. You just have to see the enormous difference between the statements of WangYibo coming out to calm the situation and giving the deserved recognition to the entire WarOfFate staff and those of Wang Yang crediting himself as deserving of the "successes". The fact that it is ordinary people and no longer just Yibo fans who have come to his defense demonstrates who those perceived to be responsible for such an unnecessary mess really were. And to be clear, it's not the fact that WangYibo acted better than wang yang, it's the low and treacherous way in which they all acted to steal the lead spot (which they themselves sold to us throughout the entire promotion of the series) to a young man whose performance was also very good. If they wanted to nominate him, why wasn't he properly cast as the supporting actor like he was? Because he wasn't even in the second credits, he was until the THIRD credit.

For sure, they played him dirty. I hope he never gets to work with that production team again. They misled us about the leading role for the traffic and money. And when viewers cancelled their subscriptions and down voted the movie, they finally release the so called statement
This is a great post, explaining why fans of WYB, but also fans of the drama and the character (weiroulai) were so mad. The platform, WY (even his wife 😒) and the producers made matters worse. I believe in karma. It will come hunt them 😌

This is almost similar to a Beijing media 2019 nomination of XZ for best actor in Untamed..WYB fans were very upset that yibo wasn’t nominated and harassed the sponsor until they were forced to cancel the awards, thus denying XZ the title. Lesson learned: don’t deny the WYB fandom’s power!
