These guys have a vast body of work going back to 62/63 and they are STILL touring and drawing crowds in the 100,000 range despite sadly losing their drummer Charlie Watts in 2021who was with the group for an incredible 59 years.

I got to see them in the US on their most recent tour, my very first show was decades ago. Last got to see Charlie in 2019. Saw them with Steve Jordan in 2021, at the smaller Seminole Hard Rock fantastic show. Friends saw them this summer in Europe loved the show. Their tribute to Charlie was really touching.

Richards is a great guitar guy for his ability to find the groove, find the riff that fits the song and then his best talent is not over playing it. It always fits the song.
Fun fact: If you listen again , when Merry Claytin’s voice cracks during her voice solo, you can faintly hear Jagger going “wooo” during the recording. They kept it in the track on purpose. Also read up on how Merry Clayton got involved with this song and the tragedy that occurred from her participation in it.

Another great Stones songs from the same album is “Monkey Man”.
If you love Keith Richards, make sure to listen to the 1970 Stones album “Get Yer Ya’s Ya’s Out”. It’s a live album that was recorded on their 1969 US tour. It’s one of the greatest live albums ever, and you’ll want to listen to when you’re driving.
The Stones was a 5 man band from the start. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones, Charlie Watts. Bill Wyman formed the band in 1962. They hit it big in 1963 in England, the rest of the world in 1964. Brian Jones drowned in his swimming pool in July of 1969. Mick Taylor was their incredible lead guitarist from 1969 until 1975, then Ron Wood from the Faces took his place. In 1988 bassist Bill Wyman retired, and Darryl Jones took over on bass. The death of Charlie Watts last year leaves just Mick and Keith from the original line-up.
If you want a quick and accurate history lesson on the Stones, look up
“25 x 5 The Rolling Stones movie”. It’s a great documentary from 1989 that’s on TH-cam broken up into two episodes.

I love how you listen to the entire song then discuss! Everyone has their own style, which I always respect, but you got it right to just absorb the entire song. Very cool!😉♥️✌

The Stones, are one of the main reasons a lot of blues legends are known today. They were heavily into chess blues and the Delta blues btw Keith is a graduate of Chuck Berry University 😁 do yourself a favor and listen to the Rolling Stones Exile on Main Street album from 1972 it's amazing how 5 guys exiled from England recorded an album in France and Main Street Los Angeles that sounds and feels like it was made along the back porches, Road Houses and Churches of the American South. It's not an album with hits but is widely considered to be their best.

Love Gimme Shelter and Sympathy for the Devil. Also Brown Sugar and Trumblin' Dice.
Keith's blues sound is because a bunch of the Brit Invasion musicians were crazy for American Blues and owned a ton of the music and learned from them. They loved Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf, ect. When these bands got big they would bring these old blues players to England and have them play on the rock n roll music shows of the time.
The blues players were Gods to the Brit Invasion guys of the 60s. Like the Rolling Stones.
They actually revived them and the blues genre because Americans could care less about them. But, once the musicians like Rolling Stones brought them into the spotlight suddenly blues was revived. And the old recording studios like Chess is where people like the Stones would go when in America.
The eighties saw another blues revival period with the explosive music of Stevie Ray Vaughn and George Throroughgood and the Fabulous Thunderbirds. Stevie Ray was a guitar god and still is. Listen to his stuff. Blows your mind.

Great story by Mary Clayton about being summoned to the LA studio in the middle of the night to cut her solo - she did in one take. She had been told to be on call but wasn’t expected to be called after she had gone to bed. They made magic that night.

The Stones originally had six members, Brian Jones - guitar, Ian Stewart - piano, Mick Jagger - vocals, Keith Richards - rhythm guitar, Bill Wyman - bass, Charlie Watts - drummer, although Wyman and Watts joined after their first shows. Very early Ian Switched to Road Manager but starting in the 1980’s again played piano. However for most of their existence they are billed as 5 members. Brian was replaced by Mick Taylor than Ronny Wood. If your interested Under the influence on Netflix’s provides insight into Keith’s (the Stones) influences, also Hail Hail Rock n Roll as mentioned above. I enjoyed your reaction for another try the ones above or Can’t you Hear Me Knocking, actually I have hard time suggesting because I love so many ❤

He came into prominence as a star rookie, and his on the mound antics were unusual. Unfortunately his MLB career was short, but the guy was a truly unique and lovable character.

My darling pickled herring, you smiled throughout the entire length of a song about war, rape and murder. It never hurts to witness a smile, I suppose. Nice to go to the Human Zoo today and see a happy person. About Keith and this song: he plays ALL the guitars on Gimme Shelter, in fact he plays nearly all the guitars on the entire record, Let It Bleed as well as Beggars Banquet. NOW…you admit to knowing little about The Stones, however, you have something called ‘rockmusicpodcast’? It should be noted that The Stones are well regarded as the very foundation of modern Rock n Roll, you know that which you have a podcast about? And, they have always been a group of five until Bill Wyman, the traitor, left and Charlie died. Of course, Mick and Keith are pivotal. Ron Wood joined in the mid 70s to fill in for chicken shit Mick Taylor who ran off squealing like a stuck pig into the night. It should be noted that Taylor has a ‘purdy mouf’. Thank you for your time.
