What would be the story, though? You could maybe do Siskel's illness in a dramatic way. And it would be interesting to see Ebert's early screenwriting career with Russ Meyer. But Gene was just a low-key newspaperman, there's not much to do there.
I grew up watching their reviews with my mom in late 80s into the early 1990s. I would like to see more outakes. They were brutal towards each other. Yet they were dear Friends. Never forgotten.
This is the best. I often wonder when they review a film if they go off the cuff or it's a rehearsed review. I'd think its spontaneous bc they are responding to the other & get pissed sometimes or laugh.
I've heard Siskel rip into Rogers weight so many times I am unsurprised but still shocked to hear Roger rip into Gene's speech impediment like that. Obviously they knew eachother very well.
Because over the 20+ years they made their show with three different companies, each of the three had different titles. The first from the late 70's to early 80's was called "Sneak Previews". The second title of the show during much of the 80's was "At the Movies". Then from the late 80's until Gene's death because of copyright they changed to just "Siskel & Ebert & The Movies".
No way. Ebert just goes off how he feels. Clueless about back to the future and starwars and action and scifi. Siskel was way more objective and saved auidences millions of dollars.
We are criminally overdue for a behind the scenes, in depth documentary on these two and their movie review show. This already has major vibes of the Let It Be Beatles doc that Peter Jackson made recently. We love to see famous duos like this in their natural state. Constantly bickering but also brothers to the end
@@pts5217 There are NO perfect people, and there are most certainly NO perfect Christians, either. Yes, there are many who wrap themselves in the robes of righteousness who really don’t walk the walk. However, no one can be a “perfect Christian.” It’s not an excuse to be a hypocrite, just being realistic about man’s ability to do anything perfectly. A true Christian is humble, speaks God’s truth in love, confesses his or her’s sins before God daily, reads The Bible daily. That’s just scratching the surface of a true walk with Jesus. I try to do all those things, but I’m falling down in other aspects of the Christian walk. If you take God seriously, it’s not easy in this world to walk in the steps of Jesus. It shouldn’t be easy, Jesus came to save the world and was despised and ultimately killed for His efforts.
I’ve been saying this for years, these 2 men need to have a biopic made about them right away.
I would love to see a movie about them.
That's a great idea. I'm actualyl shocked there hasn't been one yet!
Life Itself is the Ebert biopic
What would be the story, though? You could maybe do Siskel's illness in a dramatic way. And it would be interesting to see Ebert's early screenwriting career with Russ Meyer. But Gene was just a low-key newspaperman, there's not much to do there.
How many years have you been saying this, slick?
I love this. They start off attacking each other, then they team up and attack everybody else!! They really were brothers!
I miss "Siskel and Ebert and the Movies and the Asshole (That's Roger)"
Siskel and Ebert were more entertaining than a lot of the movies they reviewed. These guys were hilarious!!!
“You can’t ad-lib Gene.”
😂
I know I can't that's why you should read both parts.
"Keep your energy up!"
"I already shot my wad on the Protestants."
Hearing Siskel and Ebert swearing is something I never knew I wanted to hear until now XD
Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert were like an old married couple. So adorable and funny.
Man, I would have loved to have seen a Gene and Roger Uncensored review program where they said what they really thought about movies.
OMG! Same here. Their words cut deeper and harder than any other weapon known to man lol
A two hour long podcast, uncensored, unfettered- glorious.
They were a great pair.
Gene Siskel raves: 'I already shot my wad on the Protestants!'
That needs a movie trailer voice.
That is, hands down, the best line from this video. I don't think Gene realized the double entendre, which makes it even funnier...
Gene is LOADED here
Well, how else was he supposed to cope with Roger?
I was wondering if it was the start of the brain cancer that eventually killed him.
@@micheller6804 absolutely not
Gene's hammered. Too funny.
I’m Protestant and this is one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen.
This is why your religion is dying because you laugh at subversive stuff like this
They are so catty lol
Man I could watch hours of this.
"The Promos!" Miss these boyz - would love to hear their perspective on todays films
They’d be bored to tears on much of it.
@MrsCambers Because there haven't been any fresh or new ideas in Hollywood filmaking for several years.
--- 5:09... Ebert's eyes! they could peal the flesh of a dragon ! --- 19FEB23

its recorded in a studio over a whole day so while it is off the cuff, it was edited
HE ORDERED EVERY FUCKING THING THEY HAVE.
Gene definitely sounds like he just stumbled into the studio after just leaving Emmit's Pub (always tried to visit when in Chicago)
I could watch them recording promos all day, wow. thisi s fun.
Let’s call it “critical brothers”
I down with this revolution.
Ebert won, hands down.
I've heard Siskel rip into Rogers weight so many times I am unsurprised but still shocked to hear Roger rip into Gene's speech impediment like that. Obviously they knew eachother very well.
1:37 "You sounded... Very jaded..."
Great Pair,Great Reel:)
Gene Siskel-All those WASPs drinkin' Dewers!
Roger Ebert-International Bankers & the Vatican!
They were better than most critics.
This clip was better than any movie these two ever reviewed. Even The Godfather!😂😂
They started off so frosty and by the end they were just roasting each other, you love to see it 😆 miss these two everyday!
Having read Matt Singer's book about them makes this so much better to watch. He writes about these outtakes in the book
@ 6:07 - Those damn WASPs, drinking all that blended scotch whisky. Agree, Gene.
Siskel & Ebert at the Movies sounds better.
Because over the 20+ years they made their show with three different companies, each of the three had different titles. The first from the late 70's to early 80's was called "Sneak Previews". Yep, acting just like an old married couple.
This is gold
I like Siskel, but Ebert is a better critic than him.
No way. Ebert just goes off how he feels. Clueless about back to the future and starwars and action and scifi. Siskel was way more objective and saved auidences millions of dollars.
@@zebunker
LOL, Roger loved Back to the future and Star Wars. What are you on about?
Ebert was the better writer.
@@zebunkerMovie critics are subjective, not objective.
why are they so pissed off at each other in this one
They're so catty 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks for sharing this!
They would hate all the cgi movies today
two thumbs up
11:31 - "... the following" will never cease to murder me. Ebert was vicious when he wanted to be, but damned funny too.
12:05
I see Ebert foreshadowing his Stroke right there. XDXDXD
Good Lord 😂😂😂💀
Never knew you were also a fan of Siskel and Ebert. Fancy seeing ya here. TooT thumbs up.
“I already shot my wad on the Protestants.” Poets, these two.
6:11; I adore the Protestant tirade and I am a Lutheran
5:28 Ha! They really did love each other.
8:48 I had no idea they were this funny…
Where the heck did you find this?! Awesome vid!👍
Whoops… two thumbs up!! 👍👍
Did he say the waps oqn everything?
WASPs own everything.
they both drank a lot in the 80s.
Actually, Ebert quit drinking for good in 1979.
This week on The Alex Jones show.
Siskel brain tumor, ebert had his jaw rot off his face. In the end, it was two thumbs up for the memories! Thanks guys!
You can tell Gene wasn’t doing well. Roger, I would think, should have picked up on this!
This was 12 years before he died. I don't think he was sick at this time.
@@zt1053 To me, Gene looks somewhat out of it. Sad, tomorrow is his anniversary when he died!
looking back it's like Gene was always unhealthier than Roger and I think he knew it and thats why he always brought up rogers weight.
They became alot more arrogant when they started the Siskle and Ebert show as compared to how they were on Sneak Previews and At the Movies.
It's actually the opposite. They really loathed each other at first.
They were always like that.
Did they drink heavily before shooting the promos?
Ebert quit drinking in 1979.
Nah. They were just naturally savage like this
Siskel just had a speech impediment. He often slurred and stammered
@7:20 And decades later we finally got that leader with passion, blood coursing through his veins with love for his country - Donald J. Trump!

There’s an amazing Ebert doc which covers their history and relationship. I think it’s called Life. Highly recommended
WE'LL DO IT LIVE!
FKN THING SUX!!
Protestants... the people who kinda want a religion.
What does that even mean?
@@SeanPowell-p4vThey were criticizing them for being bland and dispassionate…only pretending to be religious for appearance sake.
