    The stadium has worked for the simple reason - access. Its in the middle of the city and one doesn't need to park if they can get the train or bus, then they can go into the city before/after the game. Unlike AAMI which had jack shit.

      Even MCG and SCG are at the heart of the city.

    You can't please everyone. It is not a stock standard stadium. It's a beautiful oval bringing together the old and the new.

    When they did the revamp of Adelaide oval I am glad that they left the old scoreboard alone with the original parts are over a hundred years old and if anyone wants to put this into question google it just to o get the real history of it

      I know I'll get crucified for this comment, but I believe that the northern grandstand should be upgraded. People might say that the scoreboard and the hill add to the heritage of the ground, but to me having the stadium open like it is makes it look incomplete. For the sake of an old scoreboard and some trees how much more seating could be added if it was upgraded? In the end the scoreboard (if it isn't already) will be obsolete eventually and parts etc for it will be no longer available to repair it.
      Look at 90% of the grounds in the country, how many have a grandstand around the entire playing surface? Maybe it's time people let go of the past and bring it into the modern age

      @@alexk7467I do agree with you and it’s time they get rid of it and add the extra stand just to fit more people and so on

      @@alexk7467 why not compromise and incorporate the hill and scoreboard into a new stand like they do in places overseas? then its preserved whilst making it more enclosed.

    • @alexk7467
      @alexk7467 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@the_real_bin_chicken That is something that could be done. Building a grandstand around the scoreboard would be possible with the correct design. I'm not sure how the hill could be incorporated into a new grandstand, unless the hill remains as it is and in some way the northern grandstand gets built around it.

    I had a friend, used to rave about being at Anfield, Liverpool, England watching the supporters on the Kop sing "You'll never walk alone" I've also seen it on TV and it's impressive. He told me that unless I went to Liverpool, I would never understand or experience anything like it, and I always believed him. But we were both wrong. I have stood in the Riverbank stand at Adelaide Oval, in a crowd of 50,000 Port Adelaide fans, of which I'm one and sung "Never tear us apart". I have experience that atmosphere now and now I understand what he was talking about. For me it was the most insanely emotional experiences and I have no way of expressing adequately the way I felt. If you've not done it, do it. I'm pretty sure it would not have been possible without the new Adelaide Oval or a trip to Liverpool. What a great job everyone did in making that all happen. Adelaide Oval is exceptional and easily the best stadium I've been too...

      @@Il-bebbux Yeap. When I wrote this comment I knew someone would make the, this one is better than that one comment. The only way it's measurable, is personally and individually, as there is no other way to quantify emotion. How can you possible state that one is better than the other, it's all about an individuals experience. I can accept the "for you" the Liverpool experience was better, but beyond that, it's inconsequential...

      @@CliveWebbAustralia I reckon anfield is a hell of a lot louder than adelaide oval
      I'm not saying ports never tear us apart is bad
      I'm a geelong supporter and have been to many power v cats games at AO
      anfield is just louder
      Nothing compares
      There are other clubs that sing YNWA
      And other clubs with powerful anthems
      But Anfield is known and revered world wide for its atmosphere

    • @CliveWebbAustralia
      @CliveWebbAustralia 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Il-bebbux Unless you have stood in both venues, on multiple occasions with a decibel meter you’d have no way of knowing which is louder, not that it matters. I accept that your recollection is that Anfield is louder. However, this is only your recollection, is unquantifiable and cannot be relied upon. From your first comment, you have been trying to devalue the never tear us apart experience, firstly by saying that the atmosphere “doesn’t come close”. Now you are referring to the level volume of the singing. This is mealy an attempt to justify your comments and I do not accept it, as it has no basis in fact…

      Port Adelaide home games are the best atmosphere in Australia by far. Rivals anything you'll find in Europe, and this is coming from a Brit who came over and watch Port play. Never Tear Us Apart is incredible!
