Agreed. It is a bit odd how loud the noisy elements are, if it was equalized better I’d say it’s probably some of my favorite work of hers since her second album, it’s got a lot of that vibe to it while also updating the sound, & adding tons of real instrumentation. Definitely love the video though, I get how it could be creepy but I honestly was moved by it.
If you haven’t already, check out the video for Where is the Line, that one gave me lots and lots of nightmares in my younger days

The beats are not accompaniment, but signalling damage and breakage. Towards the middle and end, the beats literally became gunshots and hell bombs going off trying to drown our her voice of sadness and sorrow. But she is still trying to overcome and find her thread of strength. She tries so hard, while looking at all the broken pieces at her feet.

This is beautiful. Those complaining about the mix and 'noise' have no idea. It's all intended to create a certain image or situation, if you will, of an internal battle. It supposed to depict chaos and beauty all in one among other concepts that words just can't describe. Excuse me if I sound pretentious but I just couldnt put it any other way. Either you get it or you don't. Bjork is'nt exactly the type of artist that creates things for the average joe who just wants a good tune to put on and bob his head to. It's supposed to fuck u up, take you out of your comfort zone, unsettle and soothe you all at once. It has always been this way and she's back with the same level of genius of her debut. This is amazing. Go grab some headphones, let go of expectations and listen again.

    • @rvufo
      @rvufo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Ale Swanson they’re mostly talking about the actual quality of the mix. not the concept of the mix. it sounds more intentional on certain speakers, but sounds actually bad on some other speakers. a lot of Utopia has that mastering problem.
Also the audio in the Mouth Mantra video is badly remixed, as well, for some reason. Thr audio levels are fucked. Maybe there are rendering issues on some of her videos and the compression becomes off. it’s a shame because the original versions are amazing... the remixes degrade the quality most of the time..

We all are struggling, just doing our best
We've gone through the grinder, suffered loss
Lost to, to which everything flows, an absence which
    Attracts floral blooming softly
Soft is my chest, I didn't allow loss
Loss make me hate, didn't harden from pain
This pain we have will always be there
But the sense of full satisfaction too
I opened my heart for you
Your lower lip so heavy on you
    My spine curved erotically
    We're finally vulnerable
Loss of love, we all have suffered
How we make up for it defines who we, who we are
It defines us, how we overcome it
    Recover, repair from loss
Loss of faith just ignites survivors
They stare doubt straight into the eye
I forgive, the past is bondage
    Freedom aphrodisiac (aphrodisiac)
I've opened my heart for you
Tied ribbons on my ankles for you
Drew orchids on my thighs for you
Your lower lip so heavy on you
    My spine curved erotically

About Bjork being a triple Scorpio!
Liza Hall quotes her in "Interview" magazine article with John Savage in 1995 (the June issue, I believe) [1], in which she talked about her own chart--her mother is apparently a hippy and had her chart done, and Bjork recited enough of the details to enable us to figure out her time of birth. She was born Bjork Gudmundsdottir in Reykjavik, Iceland on November 21, 1965, and she's a triple (!) Scorpio. She herself said, "My mum is heavily into these things [astrology], and apparently I’m as much Scorpio as one can be... I've also got my moon in the twelfth house, in Scorpio, and my sun in Scorpio in the first house, and also Neptune. Then on my other half, my generational picture, I've got Pluto and Uranus in Virgo, and my midheaven is in conjunct with those two. Virgo is the sign of the nurse, so this means I was born to nurse my generation. I’m still 50-50 about whether this is true, but I was breast-fed on it."

it sounds like someone just opened a DAW for the first time, layered randomly sounds over another to make it chaotic and then put their voice track somewhere between that with low master gain. It's funny how easy you can persuade people if you attach & wrap very low quality trash with a "beautiful" construct on the surface.

Duality. Is our emotional/cognitive dissonance hereditary of our single cellular ancestors? Mitosis. Billions of cells in our bodies have been through the metamorphic experience of cell division. I wonder how that must 'feel' to divide or to be divided entirely. That is what I see in this beautiful depiction. ("divided entirely" = oxymoron or paradox?)

He wrote around the dialoghe between science and every day, ordinary life. A whole chapter is about mithosis, and the strong feeling of nostalghia that we all have stuck inside.. the nostalghia of the first glimpse of life, when we were One, one single cell, joyful, complete, floating in warm water, unaware of division
