      I get the impression this was a lot of handmade stuff with a few digital insects and a lot of CGI glitter overlaid (the cat tube toy at 2:30 made me laugh) - at least based off Arisen My Senses and the writeup on how that was made, involved an awful lot of bizarre physical creations

    Bjork is that artist that I listen to alone because not everyone understands how special she is and I will not leave any room for negative comments towards my girl. She is a gift for the music industry and she is so underrated but maybe that’s a good thing because she truly feels like a treasure. Not everybody gets to be graced by this greatness ✨ I feel so lucky to be able to listen to her music 🖤

    Let's purify
    You assigned me to protect our lantern
    To be intentional about the light

      What are you even talking about? Bjork is a nature hater? Since when hahaha. In fact, she's known for voicing her opinion in support of nature. See this, for example, th-cam.com/video/gWAHr6wuByU/w-d-xo.html in that video she's talking about preserving the natural landscape of Icelandic Highlands by creating a national park within it so that the government can't place powerlines and build roads along the area. Also, remember the 'Biophilia' project? This project grew into an educational program that aims to educate children about nature, science, and music through apps. Also remember the single 'Náttúra'? In which she donated all the proceeds to the Náttúra Foundation, the environmental preservation campaign after which the song is named. So, Nah, Bjork and nature hater in a sentence just doesn't make any sense.

      @@bestmesubliminalsandyoutub4305 we can turn that around, and make life vastly, vastly better, give human beings vastly more hope, far more ability to create their own futures, to not be utterly shackled by the political economic systems that the rulers of this earth, a small number of men and women across multiple ethnic backgrounds, impose upon the billions of us. It’s a lot of work, and it may never happen, but the reality is that it IS possible, and also the reality is that those systems as they exist now quite literally cannot continue on existing very much longer… the question is, what comes next. The hope and answer is, the masses of humanity must determine that path communally, together, and not have it imposed by the few who already have all the power and wealth.
      Would this create an *actual* utopia? No, it wouldn’t. There would still be suffering. Social problems would still exist, and people would have to accept not getting everything they want all of the time. This is a reality of our being as humans on this earth and mortal coil, that will never end as long as we are. Still, the community of humanity we could build would be able to provide so much more fulfillment, so much more meaning, be so much less oppressive in every way that we desire to escape now, that it is worth it to demand, and to fight for. It will never be given, it can only be taken, and this can only happen when people decide they have had enough, that they must stand together to overcome the world of the present, this anti-utopia. We may not be able to build utopia, but we can build community that rejects this denial of belief in the ideals of utopia, and places so much in the hands of so few, while billions have nothing.. not even hope.
      In the meantime, thank god for great art like this, which can give hope, and can help us dream of that better world. We just need to make it more than dream, before reality becomes the nightmare it’s veering towards…

      There are a lot of people who collaborate in creating a music video, for example the makeup artistry/design is from the conceptual artist Hungry (isshehungry on Instagram), as well as other creatives who she selects to realize these works of art. Dismissing their contributions in creating the landscape of Björk’s catalogue of amazing - often groundbreaking - music videos is sad. They are constructed and inspired by amazing minds - including, Björk herself.
      But it certainly isn’t a lone enterprise nor simply conjured up by Björk smoking a spliff. It is conjured up by Björk passing that Dutch to people she hires in her projects. 😂🤣

      Interesting comment. I am a composer and i'm convinced that the key of C major is red. This song seems to want to be in C, but I cannot accurately find an actual tonal center here. Other thing, if it really is in C, then the high-winds of the flutes would make the color more pastel: therefore, PINK, as you suggested! I'm actually going to go into analysis of this piece now. Wish me luck!

    Bjork is more interested in creating physically experimental and visually memorable moments more so than creating catchy songs. I respect her a lot as an artist. Still watch her videos for her creative visual expressions. Always a genius. Wish I lived 1000 years and she did too just so I could see what she could produce. She’s like a mad scientist of sensory experiences.

    Fun fact! The blue creature is a Glaucus Atlanticus, this is relevant because Glaucus is a hermaphrodite, "having both male and female reproductive organs. Unlike most nudibranchs, which mate with their right sides facing, sea swallows mate with ventral sides facing."
    Which is reminiscent of the promo shoot with Bjork wearing a strap on. This also represents that in an ideal world, like Utopia, a creature or human would have both parts.
    Edit because there are irritating people in the comments.
    I am not insinuating this realistic for our world, I'm talking about the world of UTOPIA. Utopia is a perfect world. Any of you loons who think I'm referring to how to make our world perfect is delusional becuase of people like some of you, it impossible to create a perfect world.
    My comment is referring to the world of the video YOU JUST WATCHED. The ideal, perfect, world of Utopia Bjork is showing you, I believe in that world they have both parts. Hermaphrodites. Naturally. That's how that world functions.

      The only artist(s) that come to my mind that are comparable in creativeness are/is Dead Can Dance, a band found by both australian singers Brendan Perry and Lisa Gerrard. They use ancient instruments like the hurdy-gurdy, or the yan-ching (a sorta dulcimer), combine them with unusal and forgotten rythms from all around the world, often put also in some animal sounds like birds or sheep, as well as lots of percussions they record and don't build up electronically. then, they split their singing languages. While Brendan Perry sings in english about issues like democracy, fairness, betrayal or the sadness of life, using often metaphors from ancient greek, lisa gerrard sings with her opera-singer-like alto-voice in a self invented language that sounds actually like a unknown tribal language. sometimes they do really strange stuff. but if you like björk, then believe me, you'll like Dead Can Dance to. despite that, björks videos are beyond good. dead can dance doesn't make all to much videos, but their newest album has one. i will link some videos of them for you.

      If you like, check out Agnes Obel, another great musician, using very simple instrumentation but creates a great atmosphere. i could imagine her songs in a netflix series about the 1920s or the industrial British Empire, or a Fairy-like Fantasy-Series. I mentioned The Band DEAD CAN DANCE in a post before, and i read to days ago that they will do a north and south america tour with her as a special guest, whatever that means. sad that i live in europe, but had not the money or the time or the opportunity to visit one of their concerts in germany. But as George R.R. Martin said: "A Boy Can Dream". There is also Florence And The Machine, a band around the british singer Florence Welch. she can sing so powerful, you'll love it for sure. The third musician is kate bush. Veeeeery strange, but cool.

      Before Utopia's release I listened to Vulnicura a few times, and it grew even more in me, I'm always changing my favorite song from that album, now it's Atom Dance, Family and Lionsong... It's one of her best works, along with Vespertine and Homogenic...
      And that was the hardest part to me when I listened to Utopia, I kept comparing it with Vulnicura, but that's not fair cause she makes something unique in each album, they are all pieces of art in their own way and conception...
      Utopia is great too, not really sure about The Gate though (at least I love the intro)...

      Yeah, I think we shouldn't compare Utopia with her other works because they are slightly different musically and conceptionally

    This song is INCREDIBLE when you're stoned. I usually skipped this song because it was too 'out-there' to listen to sober... but when I was high, the thumbnail got my attention and I started listening to it. Without watching the video, I closed my eyes and felt like I was laying in the middle of a field with light winds, and I started enjoying myself and 'sank' into the song until I felt comfy. Then SUDDENLY I hear these pair of legs (its in the song) running towards me and I FREAK OUT shifting to get out of the way, and then the melody slams into my head and it felt like a warm hug. Literally caught me off guard I gasped for air, I was so stoned 😂
    Then the snapping at the end also caught me off guard and brought me back to a safer spot. I loved it. Unfortunately haven't been able to experience it like that ever again, but I definitely appreciate björk's music now more than ever. The DETAIL that goes into the music is incredible. Its beautiful. I'm not saying you HAVE to be high to listen to her music, but being high while listening to her music takes you to a whole different dimension. And tbh, as a depressed hoe, I need that dimension sometimes.

    Dear Björk: You're one of the most exquisite artists on musical industry of all times. The effort to offer an experience and the quality of lyrics and melodies is refined too. Thank you, world needs to listen to art again and you have the sensibility to create it.

      Ingrid Alcazar I find it funny when people who listen only to mainstream have a feeling that „art” is something endangered and anyone who makes „a true art” is like a savior. The truth is, there are more artists than ever, just take a look outside of the mainstream.

    • @IngridAlcazarOficial
      @IngridAlcazarOficial 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rafał Dydkiem Machał Art is not something everyone can do. Art requires knowledge, inspiration, hard work, concrete ideas, message. Too many people on musical industry are not a sign of art. Drake or Bèyonce are far away of Björk or Tori Amos because they only offer entertainment. Art is deep and provocates deep emotions; it is not only good voices and funny choreos or popularity.

    • @lynnseykat8585
      @lynnseykat8585 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      "art" lol no. imaginative, yes, creative yes, but thus is not good music, the lyrics suck, and the melody is just trash.

    • @rafadydkiemmacha7543
      @rafadydkiemmacha7543 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ingrid Alcazar why do you hang on mainstream? The difference between our times and past is that most of today’s mainstream music is not something I would call art, but rather just an entertainment. But mainstream music is just a small percentage of the music world. The problem is that most people believe that’s entire music environment. And „art” is not something unreachable nor mystical. There are many people today making better art than ever, because the tools allow to express themselves better.

      Abigail Eldritch Oh that we could fake suicides via auto-erotic asphyxiation whilst wearing boots shaped like giant tulips with orange and yellow spiraled stripes and the rest of our bodies wrapped with saran wrap using thick copper wire to strangulate. Oh that we would do this in a lobby of a large tower in downtown Miami to be discovered later that morning by office workers, the media, and emergency services. Oh that we would then suddenly arise like clockwork and sing in Farsi about our fascination with riding on tandem bicycles in Lebanon with large Lebanese women who are psychologists by profession and then construct towers of digital clocks that are covered with green and blue tiles and take turns pushing one another in a wheelbarrow around the towers rigid like robots and in a stop motion formation as we chant in binary code about giant pink dandelions and injecting their petals into our bloodstream and then look upwards and scream for 20 minutes at a constant frequency of 3400 Hz.

      Here we go again with the IDIOTIC need to trash a celebration of a great video or song. We dont need to think it is under rated. Jackson the rest of the world who lives in Africa or Asia do not need to have that sadness in their minds how this song was Tragically unsuccessful because your neighbors do play this track in Christmas or Thanks Giving. People want to appreciate this Gem of an Art in youtube without People like you, who are so Addicted to using the term Under Rated. Im just really Amused as an ESL speaker, since when did you all decide to make the term Under Rated more popular than Lady Gaga? No, lets get Logical! What makes these postings about Under Rated single very annoying is the ABSENCE OF REASON. Naturally, Bjork is not going to sell records like pan cakes!!! When Madonna asked Bjork to pen her a Single, Madonna was Fully aware Peasants wont buy the single. Madonna spend millions on a music video of a Bjork song, and she doesnt give a damn if 20 years later, morons will call her production under rated. This is nothing person. This is the 12th time, I read the term UNDER RATED in 45 minutes.
