Hello there Joseph. The rebuild, or at least the evaluation of the tractors, is continuing. This exercise is proving to be pretty valuable. You are gaining a lot of knowledge about the machines and how they are put together and that will help you with reassembly and rebuilding the tractor down the road. Interesting to see how you are discovering the good and bad of the tractors. Take 'er easy!!!
Those tractors are a minefield of pulleys and linkages. Amazing, they look simple, but they aren't. You'll be a wizard on these Joseph, the man to go to in the future. Cheers Tony
Thanks for the kind words. The biggest problem with all those pulleys and linkages is that they are very clode to where your foot is when you drive the tractor. These tractors were built before health and safety was invented :-) Take care
Thanks. We are assuming the gearbox was stuck from many years of not being used. It was great that it was an easy fix but in some ways we were also looking forward to seeing inside one of these gearboxes. Take care
Your mechanical fitting skills are very much like those of Millwrights in industry--perhaps a career path (if chief engineer on the International Space station doesn't work out) You are learning valuable skills thanks to the cameraman!. The use of the hydraulic press really makes the bearing installs go smoothly. The old tractor is looking good!
Thanks but I am not sure about the space station :-) The hydraulic press is a great tool to have especially on needle bearings bearings that are easy to damage. Take care
Thanks Del. The biggest problem with getting a replacement chain was that it stopped progress. They are not difficult to get and not too expensive either. Take care
So far it is looking like a flush was all the gearbox needed. I have no idea when the tractor was last used but it could have been many years. Take care
Hello folks. Another interesting video. I really like how you explain everything that you're doing. Lots of pulleys on these machines. Now remember to cover everything with grease like Dave does lol. Take care
Thanks. It is starting to look like the gearbox was only slighty stuck from sitting for many years. We are hoping that we do not need to take it apart. Take care
Your lucky if just a change of oil and a flushing works on that gearbox but it`s the best way and the easiest way to find out. good progress is being done and every step is a step in the right direction....CHEERS
Thanks. It is great that we had an easy fix on the gearbox but we will have to wait until it is running to be sure. You are right, it is one step at a time. Take care
Thanks. We have no idea how many years ago it was since this tractor was last used but it is looking like the gearbox was just stuck from lack of use. Take care
It seems every garden tractor gearbox I check has water contamination. I'm beginning to wonder if it was a factory option! Great video. It's nice to see how the drive system is put together on these.
Thanks 👍 I think a press would work very well for you. Our press is only a cheap overseas tool but it saves a lot of work and since getting it, it has become one of our most used tools. Thanks for following along. Take care
Man you two have some great knowledge of these old classics. As always I’m in awe of the technology of these machines. Do you put your bearings in the freezer before install? Great video Joseph. Cheers.
Thank you for the kind words but we are learning more about these machines all the time. The Versamatic technology is very cool. At one time we did put bearings and bushings in the freezer and the part in our AGA cooker but now we have the press and some home made press tools we no longer need to do that although we do need to be a bit more careful. Take care
Thanks. We have not sold any of our garden tractors but it is something we should consider at some point. It is very handy to have an attachment dedicated to each tractor. No sign of snow here sadly. Take care
Hello Joseph, More good progress... As I was watching I thought maybe you should name each of the three tractors TOM, DICK, & HARRY... it time viewers would get to know them by their names... On push bikes the chains are normally either 1/8" or 3/32" thick... I imagine that is the two variants that you have. Take care. Paul,,
Thanks. That is a fantastic idea about names but probably a bit late for this project. We will remember that for furture 3 tractor projects. I guess a 2 tractor project could be Bill and Ben. We do not know anything about chains and it took a lot of research to get the correct replacements for this tractor and our 1960 Bolens Ride-a-matic where we also replaced the chain. I am not sure if the same measurments are used for a bike chain but these are ANSI American standard simplex chains with a 1/2" pitch. The 1960 uses a ANSI/ASA41-1 chain and this tractor uses a ANSI/ASA40-1 chain. Take care
Excellent job getting the pulley installed from the best source for Bolens Tractors on TH-cam. Thanks to the crew
Thanks 👍 With the versamatic installed it is starting to look complete now. Take care

Yes, it is great to be able to compare with the other tractors. It is odd how we keep finding surprises on these tractors. Take care
good job getting all the pulleys installed and greased, they should be good for many years to come now.
Thanks. They did go together very well. Take care

I've missed quite a large number of videos, but I am glad I caught this one. This is another enjoyable project!
Thanks. I am very pleased that you are back posting videos and it is great that you are watching my videos. Take care
Another enjoyable episode, Joe! Project is moving along nicely. Thanks for sharing and have a good week !!!!!
Thanks. It does feel like a good step forward. Thanks for watching and I hope you have a great week too. Take care
Thanks Joseph, really enjoyed the video with our morning coffee, have a great week, Ben 👋😎👍
Thanks Ben, I am pleased you enjoyed it. Take care and I hope you have a great week too
So helpful to have more than one of each machine especially for procuring assemblies and parts to help sort the issues 👍
You are right, it really has helped with this project. Previously we have only had access to pictures which is not the same. Take care
Nice work sizing up the job and checking the fit of all the replacement parts s the project progresses. Keep up the good work and have a great week
Thanks. This tractor is coming together well now. Take care and I hope you have a great week too
Lots of good work accomplished so far. It is good the gear box is not completely broken. Great video Joseph!! Take care!
Thanks. We are assuming the gearbox was stuck from many years of not being used. It was great that it was an easy fix but in some ways we were also looking forward to seeing inside one of these gearboxes. Take care
Lol yep easy out more times then not its no out lol great job Joseph, sometimes knowledge is the reward😊
It really did catch us out that the easy out actually worked :-) Take care

Hello Joseph , nice job on getting the tractor back together . Hate you had to order another chain . 👍🏻
Thanks Del. The biggest problem with getting a replacement chain was that it stopped progress. They are not difficult to get and not too expensive either. Take care
It's good to see the gear box working, and hopefully, it's just gummed up. A good rinsing is all it needs hopefully.
So far it is looking like a flush was all the gearbox needed. I have no idea when the tractor was last used but it could have been many years. Take care
Nice job on the pulley system Joseph. That was good progress made. Take care my friend 🔧 👍
Thanks 👍 It did feel like a good step forward. Take care

Thanks you. In this video I think we did use enough grease to keep Dave happy but that is not always the case :-) Take care
First time I saw an easy-out work.
Yes, we were very surprised and not ready for that to happen. Take care
It's coming on really well, hope there is no big problems with the gear box 👍
Thanks. It is starting to look like the gearbox was only slighty stuck from sitting for many years. We are hoping that we do not need to take it apart. Take care
Good work Joseph. Attention to detail 👍
Thanks 👍 It felt like a good step forward. Take care
Another great video enjoyed watching very much 👍
Have a wonderful week !
Thank you. I hope you have a great week too. Take care
it's coming together, always impressed with your knowledge on these tractors.
Thank you. We are always learning about these tractros. Take care

Good one fellas. Interesting what’s going on in the gear box. Things are moving along on this one. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋
Thanks. We have no idea how many years ago it was since this tractor was last used but it is looking like the gearbox was just stuck from lack of use. Take care
👍🏻👍🏻

Thanks. I am not sure how the water gets into some of those gearboxes. Take care
Fantastic job brother Joseph 😊 I need one of those presses 😅 it's always a pleasure watching you work on these tractors 🚜 😀 thanks for sharing buddy 👍
Thanks 👍 I think a press would work very well for you. Our press is only a cheap overseas tool but it saves a lot of work and since getting it, it has become one of our most used tools. Thanks for following along. Take care
Good afternoon Joseph
Hello Gary, I hope everything is good with you
Nice job on the pulleys! Looking good.
Thanks. It went very well and we were very pleased. Take care
