Lots of really great information! I have been growing or around corn my whole life and I grew some Glass Gem corn this year that put on more tillers I had ever seen . I was kinda surprised they tillered so much because they are planted close together . I'm getting some ears on the tillers as well . I guess the best seed to save and plant comes from a tiller . I have always left my tillers because I had always heard you got a better chance of hurting the plant taking them off then just leaving them . Thanks for sharing and have a great day !

Hi, thanks for commenting. I appreciate hearing from farmers and growers, as well as agronomists. I think it's really cool that scientists were able to determine that energy mobilizes from the tillers to the main plant, proving that the tillers actually _benefit_ and not _inhibit_ your yield. But I like your reason better!

That makes so much sense about harming the plant. This video is great because it goes to show that you don’t need a lot of space to get a good harvest

@@CinnamonBear-xv4eq I ended up harvesting a bunch of ears off those tillers from the Glass Gem and saved the seed

That's why i didn't pull mine out. I thought it would hurt the plant...didn't know though.

As someone who "attempted " to grow corn very early in my gardening journey, with minimal success... your tutorial was VERY helpful! Never really liked corn until quite recently. I now will incorporate this valuable food source into my fully revamped "vegie garden"! Thanks again for your sage advice! Kind regards from Melbourne, Australia. 😊🙏🍀

It is July here in NC, and there's pleanty of time to plant another corn crop. I'm gonna do an experiment to see how many plants I can get to grown in a 10 foot circle!!! Thank you Sir for the idea!!
