Mike is a guitar god! Fantastic brilliant. But... this was 1979, punk was in the charts, electro pop was arriving. No wonder Mike never got the recognition he deserved
mike oldfield recognition was beyond charts moonlight shadow and others tracks were in the pop charts he had his recognition ..... tubular bells was the base for virgin records if you wanna say the humanity changed in worst that is another argument
I was at that concert too. At the interval they handed out sheets of paper with lines printed on them. Folded, they became the paper planes. I remember pelting Mike and the band when they came back on stage. Good times, good times.
Maginificent!! And this word is too little to describe this piece of work! Ode To Cynthia definitively one of my fav excerpts of Incantations. Oldfield He's a master it's a shame that over here in Mexico almost nobody knows him :(
I remember seeing this concert on TV. Thanks for posting - wish I had been there to see this great show. The climax of 'Incantations' is one of those musical 'wow' moments.
Not sure about the second lyric she sang at the end but the first is from the final stanzas of Hiawatha by Longfellow. Stunning performance, what pipes, what dedication all these musicians had to bring this off live
I was at this concert, there was a paper dart to make on every chair, during the interval the whole of the audience at Wembley took part in throwing all these planes. A member of monty pythons flying circus was master of ceremonies during tubular bells I think it was terry jones.
Sheer joy. Haunting, mysterious and totally captivating. Have loved this for over 40 years and never tire of it. On another point - Mike is seriously cool - mainly because I don't think he has the first idea how to try to be cool and probably doesn't know he is cool - and that is why he is cool.
@AntiqueGraphicStudio , i agree with every word you wrote !!!!!!! fantastic voice and the brilliant mike oldfield , what a combination ! all the very best !
Maddy Prior and Pierre Moerlen (R.I.P.) together on stage with Mike Oldfield. I love each one of them for their own stuff with Steeleye Span and Gong - amazing to see and hear them play together! Thanks for this uploads!!
If you look at the sparse front row carefully, you can see that Margo and Jerry from the Good Life have been lured to Wembley by Tom and Barbara under duress. They're stroking their chins with stiff-upper-lipped distress and awaiting the lift back to Surbiton in Tom's beige Marina via the North Circular for a stiff G & T and a soggy celery sarnie supper
I saw this tour in Brussels, but forgot completely about the paper airplanes until seeing this. I bet those printed sheets are a collector's item today.
This man is one of the greatest music talents Britain ever produced.....he chose to waste his talent in such a disappointing way though.....this track always brings tears to my eyes....a monumental finale to an unbelievable record.....his 80's stuff-a shame...
I watched the same concert in The Netherlands and really thought: why can't the others keep up, we all know how the song goes! But still, Mike had to gesture that people should not clap at a certain stop in the music.
Why Mr. Oldfield has this fixation with Tubular Bells, having all of those masterpieces such Incantations, Ommadawn, QE2, Platinum, ... He could make bazilions remaking any of those before TB.. ! :-???
wadelacme The disco companies are guilty for those useless compilations, not Mike, but yes...we don't need TB4. And if we erase from our minds The Millenium Bell, 3 TB are the perfect pack.
@ShinyDemise - if you mean the lyrics, they're from a Jacobean masque in praise of the goddess Diana, written by Ben Jonson. Tune, I assume, Oldfield's own!
This is the most amazing video that Mike Oldfield ever made. It's so sad both Pierre Moerlen and Pekka Pohjola are no longer with us.
They left a great legacy.
He's one of the greatest composers of all time. Cheers to him.
Absolutely, and the most underrated guitarist in history
Mike Oldfields Gibson guitar and Maddy Priors voice, I'm in heaven!
Mike Oldfield at his very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very best
Perfection - you'd kill for that guitar tone
I think this peice is probably my favourite Mike Oldfield composition
Mike rules ! Forever...
'Exposed' was the first album I ever bought. I have listened to it a million times...
he always makes me cry...genius..
It's amazing that after so many years this piece still give me shivers! Thanks for sharing this.
This sends shivers down my spine. Such a haunting melody
Definitely one of his best.
Maddy Prior kills it..... such beautiful music
perfect voice for that piece
I'm feeling like I could die after this...marvelous piece..the vibes will remain inside me FOREVER..thanks Mike
Mike Oldfield is the contemporary Mozart/Beethoven.
one of his finest moments......this is the conception of a music genius
So glad my dad listens to this, its brilliant. Mike oldfield is a great musician. Very unique.

Good times, good times.
Perfection - you'd kill for that guitar tone. And as for MP's voice... kill me now
Absolute genius. crying and smiling at the same time when I listen to his musics.
Maginificent!! And this word is too little to describe this piece of work! Ode To Cynthia definitively one of my fav excerpts of Incantations.
Oldfield He's a master it's a shame that over here in Mexico almost nobody knows him :(
Good god 3:00 in is sublime. The major scale never seemed so perfect. Brilliant!!! What a voice?
The crowd don't seem arsed but at 1:45 you're going to get the best melody you'd ever hope to hear.
What a incredible energy he shows when he starts to play de guitar, amazing!
I remember seeing this concert on TV. Thanks for posting - wish I had been there to see this great show. The climax of 'Incantations' is one of those musical 'wow' moments.
Godlike melody.... incredibly beautiful singing from Maddy.... MO just rules all melody....... 1:48 come on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good old and wonderful Pekka Pohjola as well as an even better Pierre Moerlen live on stage, I should have been younger then...
Me hacen sentir tan vivo y tantos recuerdos...
1:45 God-like melody... And reprised by Maddy P at 2:50... doesn't get much better than this!
Not sure about the second lyric she sang at the end but the first is from the final stanzas of Hiawatha by Longfellow. Stunning performance, what pipes, what dedication all these musicians had to bring this off live

a rare moment of audience participation from mike.. love it!

Gracias

Richard Lewin my heart is broken. i wish I was there but I was born in 1995 :'( thanks to my dad I am a Mike Oldfield fan since I was born :D
I envy you :(
Sheer joy. Haunting, mysterious and totally captivating. Have loved this for over 40 years and never tire of it.

this specific moment , built up by what was there before is just a climax! absolutely wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
2:51 I’d pay Maddy Prior to sing this to me while I lay in a candlelit bath with suds n all. Her voice is heavenly and gorgeous 👍🏻

truly mystical
I saw this tour in Brussels, but forgot completely about the paper airplanes until seeing this. I bet those printed sheets are a collector's item today.
Never seen this before, brilliant, I presume that is Maddy Prior at the end.
Brilliant ,,still have my paper plane🤣
Adorable
Y love you!
I was there.

Is the guy on the vibraphone the brother of Pierre Moerlen? Looks the same and plays , if possible, even better...!
2:29 stereo mix 😊
du grand Mike Oldfield
Ouaouuu

Saw a few empty seats. Let's go back in time and fill those up.
Errr... sorry me again - that melody line is f**kin amazing. All hail MO and Maddy. Humbling......
No it's better than the last poster suggested.
5:36 aah, the heady days before health and safety restrictions
¡ EMPIEZO A ESCUCHAR Y AMANECE! transcurre el día y ANOCHECE!

David Bedford on gong.
Don't I know it! Hoe oud ben je, ik was een fan toen ik 15 was, eons ago!
That miss at 0:28 haha
What's the name of this song?
