We grew up godly poor. My 6th grade year I had to choose between school clothes for the year or cleats for the spring softball season. I chose cleats. The Lord has blessed me tremendously since then. I love to give. Even the shoes off my feet or the shirt off my back.

My paternal line were minor nobility with a tiny castle in County Cork, too.
Similar stories. In the 1500s/1600s they refused to renounce Catholicism nor the English Crown. Basically, they were pissing someone off at all times. Cromwell was not kind to them.
There's actually a statue of a priest relative there who martyred himself by giving continual mass until the British soldiers stopped him the hard way.
My grandpa said that was where our legendary stubbornness came from. The Lord has had to correct me repeatedly over my weaknesses around that trait.
Your sermons are so inspiring, but also familiar. I think I get why now.
