I also dust the inner tube with talc to reduce the friction.
I was taught never put air in the tire unless it's caged or on the gear with the nut holding it on. Those bolts could let loose or the wheel itself could fail and the wheel becomes a projectile. Also, remove all the air from the tire before taking off the axle nut.
A bit overkill imo
The red dot on the tire indicates the location of the heavy spot, i like to locate the valve stem of the tube, opposite of the red dot.
Thanks for the video. On my tires I don’t see any red dot, but just a yellow one.
Find the valve stem on the side of the tire. If it is lined up with the yellow dot, the valve stem is located at the heaviest part of the tire. If it is lined up with the red dot, then it is located at the lightest part of the tire. These dots guide the technician to make sure that the tire is properly balanced during installation.
