Almost everything I make I make with the thought that it is for me or a gift for family, I don’t think about cost so much as I do the finished product. When I make repeats that I know I’m going to sell I look at the supply cost, and like you said Tabathas work is beautiful and very cost effective
I absolutely love those! Casting is one of the first "real" projects (after little blobber-art pieces of jewelry) I taught myself and it is a very soothing method of glass fusing. I made these boxes (with lids) with a Colour de Verre mold and talk about a lot of product, lol! It was very gratifying. Thank you for sharing Jamaison, you always inspire me❣
Those are great! Fill weight is 550 grams. I made one kinda in the same way the back is several layers of clear. I didn't weigh while i filled but it came out to 552 grams.
You are a rock star! These are both perfectly beautiful. Can you describe “bubble squeeze” really like to hear it described so I can understand why and how to do it!
I'll try to remember this for a future video. For me, this explanation is pretty straightforward: fusedglass.org/learn/technical_tutorials/glass_firing_schedules/learn-technical_tutorials-glass_firing_schedules-bubble_squeeze/
Such beautiful pieces. You should feel like a rock star for your efforts. Great job. I have that mold. Guess I better get to using it. If you type in the word mandala and ask how it’s pronounced you’ll know exactly. Not a criticism. I did that and I’m pronouncing it wrong. Lol
This detail is in the video notes on TH-cam. If you are watching in the app on your phone, you probably just click the headline under the video. If on your computer, I think it’s usually in a gray box with “show more” under the video headline or try to click the headline itself. Thanks!!!
I so agree that some times or most of the time you have to do what you love. Everything came out beautiful. I learned go with your heart and not what your brain thinks is sellable. 🥰
I love these! Thank you so very much for sharing! I'm hoping the same process will work with my CPI LF197 Large Heart Molds which I am going to try today. Although I'm unsure about the firing schedule (for COE96).
They turned out amazing! I tried making one with the heart version of this mold and got a ton of bubbles. Was disappointed, it really affected the look of it. Do you have any tips to save my piece? I don't have a sand blaster
I don’t… it may be pretty hard to get bubbles out at this point. You could consider putting it back into the mold and firing it very slowly with a long hold to see if any other bubbles come out. Maybe contact the mold manufacturer to see what they might recommend?
Two questions please: First, how would I adjust your schedule for 96COE? Second, about how much clear did you use for the bottom layer? It was difficult to tell visually. Thank you. I can't wait to try this tomorrow.
I have zero experience with 96 glass… creative paradise (mold manufacturer) likely published a 96 schedule so I would start there. For clear, not much more than good coverage of 2-3 layers of 3mm scraps? I guess that’s hard to say for sure.
Long time viewer, first time commenter. ;-) Your work is extraordinary and I get so many wonderful tips and ideas. Thank you. BUT, I have never had a success with filling a mold with big chunks of tekta. I always end up with little points and needles on the edges that require a lot of cold working, and then I either have to do a fire polish or I just put the results in the scrap pile. Anything you can offer to address this? Again, you ARE a rock star and thank you.
Thanks for your kind words! I'm not sure what the source of those spikes might be... I often use ZYP boron nitride in molds like this and rarely get spikes. I also try to pile the tekta more in the middle (as much as I can) so that it flows outward toward the mold walls versus sliding down the walls. Other than this, I don't have a lot of ideas...
The sand is a frit mix that I LOVE called goldstone, sold by The Glass Underground. Haven’t decided on price yet, but probably in the neighborhood of $50. You have to know your audience/market, your costs, etc. I feel this is such a tricky question.
Just watched Tabitha’s poppy paperweight video. Wondering what it would look like to build the background of the underwater scene in a similar manner? I have the mold and am preparing to make my own ‘aquarium’ paperweight. I wish I had my own kiln (reason #786 😂) and at least one more of these molds! Thank you for your inspiration 🎃
Is there a difference between Tekta and other clear glass other than thickness? You and other glass artists that make videos seem to feel there is but I am not sure why. I even checked the Bullseye catalog and all it says there is that Tekta is available in various thicknesses.
I personally think tekta is a bit easier to cut as it seems smoother. And the edges are cut at the factory so there are only straight edges, no rolled edges. Some think of this as less waste (although I never have waste even with rolled edges).
@@JamaisonSchuler I do enjoy your rolled-edges pieces. My local glass store must be cutting from full sheets because the pieces on the shelves are all 12" x 12" with clean edges. The only glass I saw with rolled edges were the full sheets of regular stained glass on the bottom shelves. Major bummer.
I haven’t decided on a price yet. I think so much of that. Depends on your market specifically. I’ll probably seek something in the neighborhood of $50 each.
I love your paperweights, they are really good. I’ve done quite a number of regular “domed” paperweights using Tabitha’s regular size murrini. I’d say you are low at $50, yours are lovely. I’ve sold all mine at $200 and yours has the expensive murrini. I priced out the mandalas and the very large ones price out at about $2/each. Also if you ever are concerned with the front being cloudy use a couple chunks of clear billet, it does the trick. Keep up your videos, love them!
So inspiring that I bought a kiln and bought an initial base inventory to make these item. Love your work and videos. ❤
Good luck!!!

These may be my favorites of your art.
Aw, thank you!!!
Gorgeous - I can't decide which I like better! I think my favorite is the underwater scene.
You should be proud of yourself. Those are lovely. I need one of those molds. Thank you for sharing.
That paperweight with all the mandalas from Tabitha is outstanding!!! Bet you keep this one. (I would).
First time I watched a video like this. I can't tell you how happy it made me feel to see your results. I am literally feeling giddy. Thank you! 😁
You are my idol/rock star, I get so happy when I see you posted a video. So much inspiration and you are so talented. Thank you so much for sharing❤️
Absolutely gorgeous. I'm biased towards the ocean scene. I like the way those two murrini overlapped in the other.
Gorgeous paperweights. U should be proud of how they turned out. 🐨🦘😁
Thanks!

I have one of those box molds that I've been anxious about trying! I just need to dive in and DO IT!
These are spectacular Jamaison Love them. Thank you for sharing. And happy new year❤
Not sure which one I like the best ! ❤ Can’t wait to try my hand at one !
I just got my paperweight mold! Can’t wait to try of these techniques!
They are fantastic!!!!! You did a super job on both of them!
Wowza, those are amazing! Now I need to do this. Thanks for the inspiration. 💖

these came out gorgeous!
Beautiful, thank you for creating these awesome educational videos.
Oh wow, those turned out great. I really need to do more fusing projects!
Wow! I need to get this mold. You always inspire. Thank you!
I especially like the full fused base layer!
You ARE a rockstar! After this, you are like the Elton John of fused glass! ⭐️ 🤩😎

Thanks! I don’t plan to put anything on the bottom… they are fairly smooth as is.
