99% of my wardrobe is thrift ed. Style today is soooo individual that anything goes. And you are absolutely correct that vintage is where you're most likely to find quality!!!
One of my prized possessions from the thrift is a vintage Burberry trench coat. I have many other amazing items but I just about screamed when I saw that coat.
Beautiful pieces! For me personally, not only do the natural fibers hold up and look better but I have learned they are much better health wise for our bodies. I avoid plastic bottles, containers, etc and yet I am wearing plastic clothes as most manmade clothes are made out of plastics/petrochemicals. Nutritionist Mary Ruddick really opened my eyes to the fact that that is not a good idea. I know, I am a bit of a freak :). Today while thrifting I found two burgundy sweaters. One by Faded Glory that is 100 percent cotton AND organic and the other is a Ralph Lauren cable knit 100 percent cotton. Love burgundy and navy. Like you, my heart breaks that we are losing quality.
I bought that Fossil belt in brown in 2001 (approximately). I paid around $90 Canadian. I still have it. I absolutely love the details on it. It's a collector's belt for me.
Couldn’t agree more with the throw away nasty fast fashion that is clogging up the landfills and thrift stores. The quality of vintage is evident in the feel and construction of the pieces. If you want quality and are not able to shop at a high end store, thrift, consignment and resell shops are the answer.
That suede fringe skirt is gorgeous!!! My best recent find is a knee length red leather coat. The coat is very fitted / tailored. Didn’t need it - but had to have it for $14.99! Also found a vintage scotch English ( I think that is the brand) white sweater in size 2X. Made in USA and vintage plus size?? Yes please!!!
I’ve recently been finding all my staple fall pieces while thrifting. I’m so excited! Handed about 90% of my wardrobe to my teen daughter cause I gained weight from having baby #4. I was so sad cause I had curated my closet so well but it has been so fun hunting down my staples and starting over 🥰 love ur content
Have you read American Flannel? It explains what happened to a lot of textile quality since the 90's. I remember the before- i have garments from the before- and it's so dramatic. The reasons and loss of skills are really sad but it's an interesting and informative book.
Hi Laura, just found your channel and its great! I’m also a vintage lover/clothing reseller and in Florida and it’s always great to find people that have similar mindsets. Sending you all the luck finding treasure! Have you been to any estate sales or garage sales? The season is almost over and some are a bust but I’ve found some great pieces for great pieces/prices doing this. Just an idea :) I’m a little more up north than you so I imagine that your location might have more sales to peruse. ❤
This week I did a quick stop at the thrift and in the "Halloween" section 🤪 I found 2 AMAZING vintage pieces that are incredibly well made! A 1960's short jacket with fur collar and a fur pillbox hat!! The lining of both, the stitching, the fine details ❤ ❤ And, because they were in the "Halloween" section, I got the jacket for $12 and the hat for $4.
Yessss! I look forward to the Halloween section every year for that very reason 🙌❤️ and omg a pill box hat!! Amazing. I keep seeing those all over the runway lately!
@@lauravonv if I could add a picture, I would! The pillbox hat is fur around with a fabric top (stitched in an overlapping fabric) with a bit of the fabric cascading down the back. The interior is lined with a satin-type lining and the large label of the furrier. It is very well made and was well cared for, no stains, tears or missing fur!
Just today found a MaxMara knit top for $5. Original retail was likely several hundred. Goodwill intake misses things sometimes…especially lesser known designers. I also recently found a Carolina Herrera tank top for about the same price. The stuff is there, just requires a lot patience 😉
My last quality piece was right before old Hurricane Milton at 1/2 off day at Salvation Army. Found a pale blue, almost grey cashmere cardigan from Kate Hill for $3.99 and a a Burberry tee for $1.99
Thank you for the original comment on my other video ❤️❤️ it really did mean the world to me and got me to make this video 🤗 so glad the fabric tip is part of your shopping now. I’ll definitely do some research into leather! That would be a really great video idea! ❤️❤️
I can’t even mention what I’ve thrifted 😂 I am still in disbelief. I thrifted a brand nwt reformation maxi dress for $1.25 the other day. I thrifted a Burberry bag and LV bag both authentic for less than $10.. I go to the bins pay per pound and sometimes you find gold
Not only does it rain in Florida a lot but you got blasted with 3 Hurricanes this year Debby , Helene & Milton most recently which affected Orlando directly . Very Scary . So much I could never live in Florida ,Georgia ,The Carolinas ,Texas Or Louisiana .
It really is scary. I thought a lot about all of that before I moved. Unfortunately extreme weather is everywhere now. California was equally scary with earthquakes and fires and poor air quality. Las Vegas had record breaking extreme heat. It’s weaved its way into every day life 😔
I have a love hate relationship with it I think. In a lot of cases I think it’s green washing. But I also think some polyester can be done really nicely. And serve a purpose to the garment. So when it’s recycled, that’s even better. I’ll definitely mention this in my next video because I think it’s a great topic. If you have any thoughts I’d love to hear them ❤️❤️
@lauravonv only that it seems a good idea but for some reason feels "creepy" to me. I've tried some and they feel itchy. Maybe just my imagination, I am gearing toward natural fabrics way more now though.
I went to a business Christmas party 8-10 years ago and was horrified at the outfits some of the young staffers were wearing. Sparkly and colorful, so festive, I guess. But also Skin tight, flimsy, almost indecently short, UNflattering. I wondered if they had actually looked in a mirror at any point. I was embarrassed for them. A nice pair of black pants and a simple or sparkly top with some costume jewelry would have looked so much better.
Can you do a version of this for plus size? Or a challenge to style either real subscriber or imaginary, pick 3 outfits plus size good quality stylish thrifted items. I love watching you & the peices you find but so totally can’t relate to your size. I fall between standard & plus am very curvy. For most of my life clothes were not cut for me even when I was a size 4 because of my curves. I unfortunately did turn to shein for a good year buying all the goth leaning basics and have had pretty good success. But hearing how the actual materials the clothes are made of can potentially make you sick (besides all of the other negative things) made me decide not to buy from them anymore. Luckily I don’t “need” to buy a lot of anything but sometimes I just want to & while I enjoy thrifting it’s never as amazing for me as it is for my “skinny” friends (I can’t think of a pc word sorry no hate - is thin better 😬) anyway just super curious if your trained eye can find the goods 🖤
I love your idea of doing a subscriber challenge!! That could be a lot of fun. I see what you mean a lot while I’m out thrifting. The fashion industry is only just recently catching up on size inclusivity and still has a LOT of work to do. So the lack of good quality at the thrift in various sizes is very noticeable. ❤️❤️ I think it would be really interesting to see though if I could find good stuff in different sizes. I think the most interesting challenge would be shopping for a different style/aesthetic. I’m up for the challenge though🙌

Get on that soap box!! The plastic clothes situation is a problem. People need to know 😂 love this video ❤
And also that fringe skirt.. congratulations girl 🎉 haha

It’s getting harder and harder to find the quality pieces but I’m in for the hunt! Love everything you found!! ❤
Love love love Lauren🧡
Amazing RL blouse! Great find
Vintage is the way but when I find Old forever 21 or missimo black/mossimo red or merona items I get so excited.
like all the stuff well done
That skirt is amazing
Spotted TOG on your nightstand!! Its on my TBR :) Also loving your hair lately. Looks so beautiful!

I haven’t been to any estate sales out here but it’s always been on my list of things to try! So glad you found me!! ❤️❤️🤗
That skirt!!!😯❤ I bought a suede purse off of eBay. It's originally from Old Navy, and it's perfection. I truly am amazed how well made it is!
That fossil belt is so on trend with the studs. I have an addiction to belts….can’t resist
Love the video and the Vivaia shoes!..

Those shoes! Yikes. 😂 The rest was fun. How’d you do in Milton? I was right in eye, and was pretty bad, but somehow never lost power! 👍
We did ok. We lost power for almost 2 full days. The eye must have been so scary! So glad you’re ok ❤️❤️❤️

Wow! A Burberry tee for $2 🙀 Amazing!
Hope everything is safe and ok for you after the hurricane. ❤️❤️
If you don't mind me asking, how much did you end up paying for the fringe skirt?
It ended up being $80 with the half off price ❤️❤️
@@lauravonv it looks fantastic on you, but then again I think you wear anything and make it look great!! 🇨🇦💗
Hi
When I go shopping:
1. Got to love it
2. Check fabric❤(thanks to you)
❤❤❤ fringe skirt!
Can you do a video on good and bad quality leather?

Ohhh honestly, I’m not sure! I think cool? But I should really look into that 😊❤️
