    Nice pedalboard! What's your thoughts on the Keeley Synth-1? I already have a 3 Keeley effects on my board and depending on what direction I take, I may add a 4th. I'm looking at the either the Synth-1 or the Parallax Spatial Generator.

      Thanks! The Synth-1 can be chaotic and hard to control. In a band setting I’ve only been able to incorporate it for solos. I do love it, and the crazy ring mod like sounds it gets when you play polyphonically is fun too.

    I have an issue that I believe is a grounding issue. I have a Squire tele and had been playing through a Line 6 Spider III amp - no issues with noise that I can recall. However, now I am playing through a Fender Mustang III V2 and there is distinct popping noise when I play. When I push or tap on the pick guard I get the popping, and also when I am strumming. Not all the time though. I plan to do some grounding work on the tele. Thanks for your instructional.

    It’s a pretty noticeable improvement. Well done video! I also have a tele w bigsby and need to do same. I think I’ll try the plate as well! Just did a copper shield on a strat and it made a world of difference for emi/rf buzzing. Thank you.

    I believe I have that same $10 roll of Amazon copper tape. Lol! Great video. One day maybe I can drive north of I20 and see you in Tucker, from Newnan,.

    I have no tech skills! I upgraded to TexMex pickups on my tele(bought a $15 Amazon solder iron), since it was open I put in the copper tape!! It can be done.

    So even with all shielded you’ve kept the bridge wire ground to volume pot right? Many thanks

    Barely heard any loss in tone after the shielding. If anything it sounds like you roll off some of the treble.

    Just got the tape, but after watching this video I think I might as well try the plate too.

      Yeah I think it’s definitely worth it. I read it just makes your pickup more efficient. It feels so much punchier now.

    Your guitar certainly seems more confident and full sounding with the plate installed. It's definitely a good purchase.

    There's really no point shielding anything except the pickup area. That is the only area that receives and amplifies electronic signals. If you are getting signals from anywhere else, you have a grounding issue. You can test this on any guitar you want. If you find a guitar that receives signals from somewhere else, it's wired wrong.

    To be honest the modifications won't be noriced if you are playing a live gig , especially if its a classic rock song.

    Thanks for the vid pal, super helpful. Mind telling me about the finish/wood of your Tele body? I've never seen a tele like that (besides the Beatles guy Tele but that's walnut) and it looks AMAZING.

    • @saturnfivesound
      @saturnfivesound  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey thanks! That tele was originally a blonde color that someone had tried to sand off and then spray paint green. It looked terrible when I bought it. I sanded everything off and refinished with a rub on dark walnut stain. I think the base wood was ash.

      @@saturnfivesound looks great! You might have given me a cool idea for a refin if i get to know what wood my Tele is made of

    Its a copper plated steel plate, that's inspired by the OG

    Nope. To be a faraday cage, the pickups would have to be completely underneath a layer of copper - the entire assembly would have to be fully enclosed.

    • @theguitaramptech
      @theguitaramptech 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're quite correct in saying its not a Faraday cage, but provided that all the shielding is well grounded it will still provide protection from Electromagnetic Interference, especially where unshielded wire is used. It would be interesting to see if the increased capacitance between the shield and the hot wire may lose some high frequencies. Hmmm...sounds like a good topic for a video ;-)

    after sheilding sound effected the tone 😬

  • @CaptainRon1913

    You show a copper plate, yet say you "installed a steel plate for fatter tone". Also, you copper shielded the neck and pass through cavity, yet those two cavities aren't connected to ground, since you have pickguard screws for the neck pickup instead of wood screws into the body. I think you solved your problem with a better ground to the bridge plate.

    Waste of time, most noise is from a poorly soldered connection or bad earth. Guitars don’t come from the factory brand new,full of copper tape, because they don’t need it!
