Hello, everyone! I'm a student at CMR Institute of Technology (CMRIT) and I want to share with you my experience of participating in the CMRIT Model United Nations (MUN) conference. MUN is a simulation of the United Nations, where students act as delegates of different countries and debate on global issues. It's a great way to learn about diplomacy, international relations, and current affairs.
I joined the CMRIT MUN club in my first year of engineering, and since then I have attended several MUN conferences, both online and offline. But the most memorable one was the CMRIT MUN 2023, which was held on our campus last month. It was the first time that our college hosted a MUN conference, and it was a huge success!
The CMRIT MUN 2023 had four committees: the Security Council, the Human Rights Council, the Economic and Social Council, and the International Press Corps. I was assigned to the Security Council as the delegate of France. The agenda of our committee was "The situation in Afghanistan after the withdrawal of US troops". It was a very challenging and relevant topic, and I had to do a lot of research before the conference.
The conference lasted for two days, and each day had three sessions of two hours each. During the sessions, we had to follow the rules of procedure, make speeches, raise points and motions, draft resolutions, and vote on them. It was a very intense and interactive experience, and I learned a lot from my fellow delegates. We had some heated arguments, but also some constructive dialogues. We had to balance our national interests with the common good, and find solutions that were acceptable to all.
The best part of the conference was the social event on the first night. It was a chance for us to relax and have fun after a long day of debating. We had music, dance, games, and food. We also got to interact with delegates from other committees and colleges, and make new friends. It was a great way to bond with people who share a passion for MUN.
The CMRIT MUN 2023 was an unforgettable experience for me. It helped me improve my communication skills, critical thinking skills, and confidence. It also gave me a broader perspective on global issues and how they affect us. I'm very grateful to the organizers, the chairs, the secretariat, and everyone who made this event possible. I'm also proud of myself for representing my college and my country well.
