This song is so real... I used to work in Northern Alberta 4 weeks on, staying in a work camp and 1 week off. My wife and I were engaged at that time and that winter was crazy hard. Married in the summer, and then the next winter it was 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off working in Southern Manitoba. We learned a lot during that time and saved a lot of money to change careers to something more family friendly.
I worked at Riverwalk cafe in Nashua NH about two years before you released this album. You played 82 fires at that tiny cafe and completely captured my ears and heart. I always tell people about you guys and share your art. You are one of a kind and you were nothing but humble when I met you and signed my CD for me. Thank you for your amazing music and all these years of comfort
10 years in YYC, a lot of good friends, many fond memories. But I'm getting kicked out with housing costs. I've yet to meet my nephew, I haven't seen my mom in two years, it's time to go home. I wish I had the chance, and I wish other people in the big cities had the chance, to go home and be with their loved ones. We are immigrants in our own country because we exist only to make money for someone else, and not ourselves.

I haven't stopped listening to the East Pointers since I first encountered their music about a week and a half ago. I'm not sure if it sound or content you are looking for, but you could try some of these people/groups. They have in my mind a similiar sound or similar content. I hope you find something! Mark Erelli--try albums "For a Song" or "Milltowns" (Suggested songs: For a Song, Oklahoma, Magic, Night Train, 23rd Street) Stan Rogers--try the album "From Fresh Waters" (Suggested songs: White Squall, Tiny Fish for Japan) Richard Shindell--try the album "Courier" (Suggested songs: Kenworth of My Dreams, Nora) We're About 9--try the album "Future Pilot" (Suggested songs: Starting Over, A Beautiful Fear)
@@Larixlaricina Thank you so much for the recommendations. For me its the sound. "Two weeks" has a nearly trance or progressive house hint to it. Makes it very upbeat and quickly paced. I constantly listen to it while driving etc, as the pace is perfect for it, or even running etc. Finding folk music, where the tempo is upbeat is pretty uncommon. Also it doesn't come across as overly bluegrass, which a lot of folk music ends up doing. The irony is there is nothing upbeat about the content, but that is part of the beauty. Think that is why the music services have no luck finding similar music. Its like a soundtrack got mashed up against Trance music and then a deep story of a lyrics was put on top. A one of a kind masterpiece.
@@JDCrae I agree the sound is very unique, especially related to the content. The suggestions I don't really fit the sound, I think, but if I come across anything else that does, I'll try to remember to stop back here :)
Keep an ear out for there upcoming album "Yours to break". The album is going to have at least a couple of tracks similar to this according to the lads

Hauntingly beautiful song and a great video. Captures what many Canadians are living right now.

I totally agrre, this band is a hidden gem!
This is great
This speaks to me and I believe a lot of other people. Love that this band makes music with a meaning, not just shallow garbage.

Always knew that she'd get used to me leaving
Someday
A lot less words
Now her tears have run dry
I can tell by the way she doesn't hold me as tight
And she's thinking she's better off alone
Nobody warned me
Nobody told me
I'd leave there so broke
Come back so lonely
I'm killing my soul
For the life that I'm leaving behind
Two weeks on
And two weeks off
My blood is wearing thin
And my stomach's in knots
Too much thinking ‘bout about the time
You have lost
When it's two weeks off
I punch in idol whiskey on my breath
By the night comes
I take whatever I can get
Blowing back on money
I should've sent home
Two more days and I'm east bound
I'll be praying she'll be there when I touch down
Maybe there's a job home
That'll keep me this time
Nobody warned me
Nobody told me
I'd leave there so broke
Come back so lonely
I'm killing my soul
For the life that I'm leaving behind
Two weeks on
And two weeks off
My blood is wearing thin
And my stomach's in knots
Too much thinking ‘bout about the time

Me encanta su música, pero los videos no. Podrían realizar videos con mas contenido, con mas vida, naturaleza
