    What do you think about these long-form videos?
    I tend to prefer going very in-depth on topics rather than just skimming the surface, but if you would prefer shorter, less detailed videos, please let me know!

      Long-form was great. Very detailed explanation, clear and concise. I've been producing for a long time and had never heard of choke groups. Thank you for the nudge in the right direction for realism. Drums may be my new obsession thanks to you. Ha!

    You might want to check out XO by XLN. It's a visual map that categorizes samples by timbre. So if you have a specific tone in mind, you just drag your mouse through the constellation of sample represented dots and can find what you need quickly. You can also filter by things like "snare, kick, etc." it's really revolutionary.

    • @maxkonyi
      @maxkonyi  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it's super cool for sure. I used it quite a bit in the past actually but I'm so familiar with Battery that its easier for me to just stick with it for now. I had some other significant issues with XO that prevented me from transitioning but the specifics are escaping me now...
      Do you use it?

    The idea of considering the story you're telling is probably the best piece of general advice in terms of sample and instrument selection. Also I've found using the velocity sensitive filter is a great way of inducing subtle variety if using Impact XT (lower velocity = more high cut).

    Hi Max! As usual an eye-opener to watch your videos. In Battery there are options to route the samples to different outputs. I've only discovered the way when you have to rightclick on every sample and assign them to st1/2, st3/4 and so on. Do you know if there's an automated way to do it, similar to the routing Kontakt provides?

    • @maxkonyi
      @maxkonyi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi Shamcra! Thank you 🌞 Glad you enjoyed it.
      That is the method I use. However, you could create a pre-routed Battery template if you will always put things in the same place.
      Sometimes I end up not using any separate outputs and just run everything out the mains, so I don't pre-route my Battery setup.

      @maxkonyi  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Battery is amazing. You can absolutely get by without it, using whatever drum sampler your DAW comes with. That may be best until you feel you've outgrown it. However, if you do spend the money, you likely won't ever need another sampler, at least until/if Battery 5 comes out...
      I've been using Battery for over 10 years now 🌞

      @@maxkonyi I'm using Reaper and it doesn't have a drum sampler. Is a drum sampler mainly for electronic drum sounds? If I prefer acoustic drum sounds would something like EZDrummer or Steven Slate Drums be better?

    • @maxkonyi
      @maxkonyi  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@syncMixer Yes, samplers are mainly used for non-acoustic or hybrid kits. EZDrummer is a good option but I am not so familiar with it. I use Addictive Drums 2 and it's mind blowing.
