    Happy after Thanksgiving Dennis.
Penn made the Powergraph series of reels at one time in Japan. Most were sold as a package of a Powergraph rod and reel.
I imagine that after the sale to Pure Fishing, the fate on made in Japan was sealed and the majority of reel production was sent to China. The tattle tale of Chinese is the change in the reel handle to the funky looking handle as seen on the reel you're working on.
The Penn Powergraph rods that were made in the USA were very nice rods, right up there with the International II series rods. My favorite are the burgundy colored rods. Available in bait casting and spinning versions.

Thanks for the additional information. It's hard to differentiate the Pure Fishing reels today. The Shakespeare, Pflueger, Abu and others have the sameness to it that one plant and manufacturing line can produce.

That power graph is certainly in great condition. I’ve had two opportunities to purchase a Powergraph but chose not to buy one. I have three of the older Penn silver reels - 103, 104, and 105. It’s funny that you can go back to a 1955 Luxor Saumon Mer and it holds in ghe pinion and bearing with two screws just like this Powergraph. I’m not surprised about the shim washers and you probably know why. Still this certainly is a tried and true design. I’m just nosy too sure about the quality of the metal parts or that graphite. Dennis, do you remember that odd shaped Olympic Hurricane Perffecta 800 reel I showed you. Well the seller made me a deal I couldn’t refuse (LOL) and I got it. It should be a nice reel. I have seen only one reel shaped like that but it was branded as as something else. That will probably be it for me this year. - Chris

This version essentially replaced the silver series. It was generally the same engineering as those with the lighter graphite case. Not a bad entry level reel at the time.

I do not have that video. The reel is not sold in the U.S. and I just don't see them in my shop. - Thanks for asking
