The moment you realise you have been watching for well over 3 years after Tom said it’s been 3 years since the clamp was built (not missed one video since)
😍
Tom, I don't live in the UK and i just need a little something for some research I need to do for a friend, do you live near Manchester? if yes, can you please do me a favour and test the soil ph in Philips Park near the Etihad Stadium?
Great to finally see work start on the NEW clamp roof Tom I was beginning to think you had abandoned the project altogether. Looking back you have really transformed the farm since you launched that first raw milk vending machine video 7 years ago. What a journey. 👍👍👍
It’s only taken 3 years 🙈 thanks Archie
Had to smile, lots of cows not the least worried about the noise and lying down chewing. Then there is a group who seem to be watching very intently what is happening.
Have you thought about rainwater harvesting off all of those roofs… Fed back into the system 🐄
With Lytham average yearly rainfall of 52.1 inches per year and approximate service area of that drain at 9150sqft, it drains ~247,000 gallons of rain water per year. Cheers Tom
Pretty much my whole slurry store! How mad is that!
Absolutely mad. Even factoring for evaporation in the slurry store, that's still nearly 100 tanker trips to the field just getting rid of rain water. You'll need to adjust your slurry application rate to factor in the decreased water content.
My jaw dropped reading that
Lived in spain for 21 years all my education here, now working as an architect, and still say "Never Eat Shredded Wheat" when drawing North on a plan!!
Yummy. Love shredded wheat. Specially frosted shredded wheat.
Had no rain since the 17th of April here in Cornwall.
" you did get the cheap stuff didnt ya"
The typical phrase of any farmer
😂
This is so awesome! It's going to save you soooooooooo much work and money by eliminating having to tank that water to the fields!!!
Silage pit mats are so much easier to handle than the tyres, and can be stored in a small area. Much better pressure on the sheet and cover a pit so quickly
whole tyres got to go or at least cut tyres.
He had sandbags for a while, not sure what happened to them.
@@llttf He has a limited quantity.
7:55 great video
but that’s a funny looking sheep. 😂
YES finally, glad to see the roof finally putting a roof on the clamps. should deffo get the clamps pressure washed before putting anything else in it to make it cleaner as rain wont get in it no more so it will stay clean for a long time
Help if they cleaned the roof gutters out. 🫣
@@OOpSjm ye true
The amount of money he has spent on that yard and it still looks like a shit hole.. Can't even be bothered to hang proper gates with the cows instead fucking around with security fences 🤭
@@cowsrcool1103 Are you blind or the fact they are currently working on that part of the shed not obvious?
Did you miss the previous videos where the construction of a "viewing area" has been repeatedly discussed?
@@cowsrcool1103 you do realise that it is a functional farm. the concrete wont be pure white and shiny machinery lol. Personally i think tom should buy a tractor brush to clean the yard out better. with the cow thing idk how much of a long term viewer you are but he has said several times he was supposed to put gates there but decided not to in the end because he was still making an area into the viewing area and want to design that before putting fences anywhere.
Great that the sun is finally out and projects can move forward.
Nice to see the roof getting built. Save an absolute bunch of rain water from the slurry tank.
What about adding another set of panels to the middle wall? Then you’ll get back all the space you lost.
Putting an extra panel higher all round would make sense you’d get more of your first cut at the main farm
As part of this project, are you going to gate the end of cow shed? The Herris fences are scruffy as!
Yes!!
Put the old panels on top of the dividing wall and at the back wall Tom ?
Good job tom 3 years in the making remember when u said it whatched every vid since
As always.... I love watching the videos 😎
Top Tip, tilt the forks slightly forward for an easier slide across 👍😉
Lovely to see you so excited
Put the old panels ontop of the dividing walls and ontop of the back wall Tom
Good to see roof going on.
Well done Tom for getting it started!!
for every 1mm of rain that lands on one square meter equals 1 litre of water 👍🇬🇬
On part of the build I’m on at present we had to use a raft footer as the foundations were within 10m of a TPO’d tree, we were only allowed to dig 400mm into ground to protect the tree (quite rightly) so instead of a 2m squared base we ended up with 3m x 5m base
The look you gave the camera when you said "Greasing the pecker" cracked me up.🤣
Thanks for the video Tom.
What a great addition to your farm. Love and prayers 💜🙏🏼
Congrats Tom! ❤❤
Glad youre finally getting those silage pits covered
Yeah kinda hard to make out what you’re saying when you’re stood next to a Jackhammer… Just saying, I understand I’m pointing out the obvious, however this happens enough to warrant the comments. Love what you do Tom, thanks for sharing!
Great video Tom thanks ❤❤
Fantastic news 😊
Excellent that you have started this project, good luck.
Good luck with the Silage Palace. 😊
Congratulations on your " peerage "😊
You should take your old panels and put a 3rd row of panels up between the 2 silos and rear of the one your working in, to get back the storage that your losing by putting in the legs for the roof
That’s a fantastic grant you are getting. The clowns where we are, have it designed that only the big factory farmers can get big money grants.
Been a long time coming tom, so glad to see the clamp getting its roof👍👍 you and all the guys at the farm do an incredible job 😊
Great news Tom knew there would be a new project sooner rather than later x😊😊😊😊😊
13:53 great content again nice to see another project on the making again
good to see it being done now and you can make up that loss on the top and making the front steeper and dry storage for any hay you make on the top , win , win
Hi great video sun shining,
You will need the old concrete panels Tom, to extend the muck pit ( put the extra bay on it) you might as well as you have the a team in😄, great video noise and all 👌🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great video as always Tom the work never stops its one project after another u must be going crazy hope ur able to get a little rest
No worries about the jackhammer whilst videoing, could still hear you. Fabulous video
Go higher with the concrete panels for extra storage in the clamp👍
That bin would give u alpt of room if it was relocated, good video
When they build in an area where the ground is unstable ie where they have been mining they put in a ground beam tied into short bore piles making the the foundations into table with the outer beams taking the main building wall. So basically if the ground should move the building itself will stay up .😮
Hi Tom you smashed it out the ball park again. Hope your dad is recovering well and that your wife and baby are doing well . Take care
i think the blue plastic is there to prevent the macadam (gravel) from sinking in to the ground. and the gravel is there to drain and is able to prevent water from climbing up.
Great video Tom
Shoot of people haven't listened to your vids or they would know all you tube $$ go to new stuff on the farm. Didn't you and dad speak about a rain water collector there by the new shed a couple years ago? I think it was for water off the new shed but you could save on new shed and new clamp that would be a ton of water out to good use!
Fab video. 🏴
Should move the tower in front of your clamp to compensate the few feet you loose at the side for the price cut ;)
Happy Tuesday everyone and happy cows. Everyone have a great week. I’m going to sleep. be well be you
you can always go higher if needed.
that roof will be quite a improvement. should reduce the amount of slurry, which is not a bad idea.
and 12 feet high, why not, may compensate a bit the room you lost on the ground.
Use some of the cash you saved to get a silage compactor and front weight for the case. Won't matter that the pits smaller then
Would you be able to put some stand offs off the pillars with pin holes and steel pipes running the lenght of the clamp. Stack tyres in on them as youre stripping the pit and ready for the next cover..between the depth of the pillars and walls they shouldnt get in the way of rolling
We always used a laser gps for the bolt boxes. Hell of a lot easier.
Just wondering what is the big thing about roofing the clamp, is it just for comfort when feeding out during winter as well as avoiding dirty water storage? Very few roofed in Ireland, much cheaper unroofed and easier for the loader man to operate on. Good video as always!!
Looks good mate. You could build a handy maize clamp with those panels 😜
Another very interesting video Thank you 😊😊😊😊
Oh a shed build !!!!
Thanks for sharing, missed the girls from the video!😂❤
What is the new on the otherside of the farm ? You mentioned it but never said,
Lid on Tank to Collect the Gas for cooking and heating....❤
put 2 rows of new panels from the bottom for strength and then use a row of the old ones at the top because it isnt taking as much pressure, less cost in this day and age🙈 great video👍
That's an excellent suggestion❤
About time😂 great video as always, cheers
So excited for this construction project. How's Jo & Harvey?
If you’re worried about losing 6” just go 2x4ft and 1x5ft Tom. Great video Tom
Good idea
Things are looking good it will be nice to have a roof over the clamp. Can they do something on the back and sides so the rain can't get in the front corners? Looking good Tom,
Going to look good Tom, I think you'll definitely be surprised about how much water you stop from going into your slurry pits. 👍
💯💯💯💯💯
Hey, here's a thought. Try recording a voiceover during the really noisy bits, rather than STANDING NEXT TO A JACKHAMMER (without ear protection!!!) 😂😂❤❤❤❤❤❤
So sorry. I thought it was bad but the comments are saying it was bad bad 🤦♂️🙈
I heard what was being said, the noise of the drilling was the only problem, it gave it a better feel than an voice over
Better raw, we don't need it "slicked up" it is not a Hollywood production
It is probably bad bad if you are listening with headphones. It didn’t seem too bad to me but using iPad speakers.
It’s more about Tom’s ears than ours. He needs earplugs for protection. ❤
Good deal on the grant, hey!
How much rain water goes into the round slurry holder because it's not covered either?
You can use the old panels to extend the midden another bay.
maybe even for walls for a shed or pen or two
Afternoon tom
love from Norway
Wow, i did not know you were on your own. How awesome. Thank you. More Scotland videos ❤❤❤❤❤❤. Now i will watch it. How many cows and bulls do you have? I know you have a big farm.
another great video, you should buy shares in a concrete company
0:16 - Looks like the gutters need a good clear out or you will just end up with overspills
Wow has it really been 3 years. Where as the time gone. The farm has seen some big changes in those 3 years though glad you have now got the time & money to get it done. It’s looking brilliant you are doing amazing work Tom love to you & the family ❤I hope to come see the farm in person soon & get a milkshake. Can you use sheep wire on those couple of gates stop the sheep escaping 😂
Go for flat mats they are worth every penny seal better like your pallets and don’t get water and can store easily on pallets
Concrete! Me and my dad doing it a few days ago
Good job Tom but you need a shed for machinery . Why not buy second hand steel and modify it to suit.
So excited to see this get started! I think it will save a ton of water not going down the drain and into your giant sludge bucket. How high is the existing wall? New one 12, old one ? Is the capacity the same after it’s ll did in done or what percentage is it changing? Again, so excited!!!
Youl put a drain in for silo slurry right? X
nice new project. Note to tom, you are not louder than a jack hammer. I couldnt hear a bloody word you said in the first part of that video.
you may be losing 3ft of clamp, but you will be gaining silage from less spoil and damp
I agree!
One ml of rain over a square meter is a litre of water if you know square metres and your annual rainfall get close to the answer Tom
I think you'll be surprised how much water will come off that roof.
Can you mix and match so 1 x 5’ panel and 2x4’ panels etc?
I’d speak to Wearing about the number of panels and if the girders would take the pressure. Also you might be still limited by the size of the buckrake machine especially on the outer edges. Would be pointless going up if you can’t get it in 🤷♂️
Wee 6ft over hang lean too with loft... tin floor...
Tom you say about the rain not going in the slurry. But where you putting the rain off the roof?
Tom why didn't you put a ramp at the back of the silo for buck raking the grass in to the pit
Tom when u say over the road is that your farm aswell
I taught u have to keep rain water separate from slurry thanks ? Or is that rule only in Ireland ?
GO 16ft has you get bigger you will need it!
