No it's not true. The revolutionary War started for 2 reasons and 2 alone, TAX EVASION and slavery. The plantation in the colonies made an average of $190,000 a year in trade sales. That's about 17 million a year in modern money. The top exprts were tobacco, Rum, cotton and North American woods. All off Slave labor, because remember you don't pay slaves money or health insurance. You just give them food to stay alive. So when King George started to ask where was his portion of the money in the form of taxes, they were like, "Nah we don't want to pay. This our slave labor money" so the king taxed other things that the colonizers needed as imports. Like gun power from Europe and more.
