In a nutshell: it's about not wanting to comply to the expectations of society (smoking, drinking, being a husband, a father, a partner, an outgoing child), self-acceptance (he always felt as an outsider - the name of the album is Right Place, Wrong Person) and then finding inner peace (he recognizes himself in the third girl and sees that he's not the only one that struggles with this (she's also confused, just like him) and now he can accept himself and he can be content/happy (his Spring) in every situation and his journey of self-discovery (the search for what he wants in life). The third girl (his alter ego) guides him through the door and now he can face the endless possibilities or situations in life (represented by the maze of rooms).
And he's talking to himself: to come back to himself (because he's confused/depressed in the beginning of the MV).
Your analysis of the MV is so close to my interpretation and meaning of life as portrayed by Namjoon in his lyrics and concept of MV. Very deep. Very deep that viewed esoterically will arrive at what Namjoon wants us to see. Thank you. Life in its most basic picture as lived in this century.

Thanks for the review. Takes more than an ordinary mind to understand his message. But it is sublime in the way it was presented. Namjoon's ideas are thought provoking. Not ordinary but artistically done. Presented in a different method. Really what a piece of art!

This is a very thought provoking song. RM said he didn’t make this for view but for the artistry. Each room represents a different scenario/stage in his life. That’s why you see the same rooms at the end multiple times.
We all have to make choices in our lives every day. Each room is a different choice you make. Those choices change your outcome. ☺️
RM the most talented rapper, composer, songwriter, producer and human being ,every song he does has a different story and different emotions!!

the song’s so chill
A woman in the MV and the parent taking care of the baby in the cradle symbolizes ARMY,.And in the beginning, the party scene and the girl brushing her teeth with her mother mean the normal routine before go to tMilitary service. . In the middle, a woman who gets angry and looks for it expresses ARMY who is angry and sad when bts goes to the army, and a parent who looks at baby RM from the cradle means ARMY who raised them in love~
In the second half, smiling RM talks with a woman and enjoys a party with his colleagues after being discharged from the military, and the scene where he opens the door with a woman symbolizing a fan means that he will smile again with the fan because the door that was closed due to military service symbolizes suspension. And I think the MV set expresses ARMY and BTS getting along together on the concert stage! LOL
This is the right way to interpret it. It's stupid to watch the MV and simply say, "Did RM get married and give birth to a baby? Why are you fighting with a woman?"haha~~

RM is not for the listener looking for straight forward "eye and ear candy". You do need to find out more ...and think beyond the face value....
Wont be suprised if many will just walk away puzzeled and unwilling to do more to delve into it but those who love a discovery process will savour a genius level that only RM ...and a steller team...can deliver.

RMs IQ is 148. Never look for simple meanings. My theory If you did know RMs work every mix tape and album is different from the last. His first self titled mix tape is a slap back at his friends from his under ground rap days who called RM and Suga girls for wearing makeup. He used it to demonstrate why he was a better rapper than any of them, and to lay down his truth. In it isJOKE and DO YOU( the song that says clearly he refuses to be labelled or boxed into any genre). He is continuously pushing boundaries. In a way thats what is also happening in the mv. RM wanders around confused and unhappy through all these potential different lives and expectations never being comfortable. We see this has been so since he was small. At some point he becomes more comfortable in each scenario after being united with his other half/ self, and he can be more comfortable with others. But he still doesnt stay, he moves on finds himself and accompanies the woman( other half Jung or Plato?) out of the maze of societies expectations to find non of it's real. In the light he sees its all fake sets designed and created by someone else. However with RM there is always light at the end. Hope of better futures now he can see what life is about, he is free of those boxes. There are several clues for ARMY buried within the MV. Pain Devine. During a conversation piece with Pharrell Williams they discussed judging lyrics by how painful they are to produce ...pain divine, devine inspiration?
Comeback to me is about him calling for his inner self... He ran down his memory lane moving from one scenio to another, he didn't find solution to any of the situations and just runs from it but then he meets himself (in form of the third girl) and found his spring (happiness) by delving into his inner self, communicating with them and was finally able to find answers then everything around him becomes positive as he now has Clear understanding of himself. (My interpretation)
Love that Namjoon creates music and videos that leave us in a reflective state. 💜

Kim Namjoon is not for everyone. He is an artist and a poet, not necessarily easy entertainment. I personally think this was the best BTS solo song and the MV is a piece of art. I found the style of storytelling refreshing. It's ok, you tried but didn't like it and I appreciate your honesty.

Its not about the song, its about the lyrics, mv and meaning behind it, is art.
