- This is just a quick overview of the Samsung Q990C. As its very similar to the Q990B its a little less formal than my normal video but maybe worth 5 mins of your time. #Q990C

I love your reviews! Helped with your sad subscriber rate too ;)
I appreciate that! A little less sad now
Great review Dan… can’t wait for you to get your hands on the Nakamachi Dragon to hear what you think
Hey guys! I am usually not the typ of person that comments. But this is an experience I want to share with you to help you with your decision.
I just bought the Sony HT A7000 few days back as I wanted to have a top notch system and I thought: it's priced so obviously it should be better. Some reviews gave me the feeling that I purchased „THE SOUNDBAR"
After trying it on a new S95C Samsung I must admit that the sound was decent, but I never really had an immersive feeling. I was desperately looking for reviews or comments on videos like this to give me a better feeling about the money that I just spent.
Actually, I got the HT A7000 with the SW3 sub and SRS5 rear speakers. But the sound wasn't really „wow" as I expected it to be. And as much as I was looking for pro-active comments | found that most people were happier with the Q990B from Samsung.
So I decided to go for the new Q900C and the result is: yepp, you guys were right! The Samsung system, additionally with Q symphony who ever has the option to have a new Samsung model, is definitely better, more immersive, more power. And it's only 60% of the price
So if you may think that only the price makes the performance better: nope. In my very honest opinion: the Samsung is the better system. Not mentioning the price tag
Hope this can help some of you
thanks a lot
I owned the A7000 for all of one day. It's AWFUL.
I just bought this here in Thailand. Only $610 and the sound is terrific. It’s paired with a TLC mini led 75C755.
I have the sub in a corner and the bass is very solid.
That great. How is the connection so far? Any dropout?
@@veenoth_gaming8445 it’s been rock steady unlike most technology.
They've meant to have fixed the dropouts completely with a slight hardware adjustment in the rear speakers and utilised a new algorithm with how it works with Q-Symphony on the new 2023 TV models to balance the TV speakers better.
I have had the 990B for 11 months and never had a drop out, i got rid of my Sony HT-A9 and SW5 sub to buy the Samsung soundbar as the HT-A9 were awful, drop outs at least once or twice a day.
Are you serious man? @@paulefc1971
2:02 The base model television q60b etc from 2022 indeed does not have q symphony but from the qn80b series and up it does have q symphony. (The b denotes the year, which is 2022 not 2023, which is c)
Hi NeverEnoughTech, love your videos, especially the year end comparison of the Atmos soundbar showdown.
I have a small room and need a all-in-one soundbar. I dont have space for rear speakers but a sub is fine. Given the limited space, which soundbar would u recommend that delivers the "best" Atmos experience based just from a single front firing soundbar? Yes, I'm aware Atmos delivery will be lackluster just from a soundbar so I'm setting a low bar
Sennheiser Ambeo plus worth looking into
We love you man!
☺️
Can you use this and link it with kitchen in ceiling speakers to play the same content?
The weight drop is bizarre considering the cosmetics and dimensions are virtually identical between 990B and C. Those shipping costs must be killing their profitability. :D
Some first day sloppiness for sure
Any idea how to use Tidal Connect with this bar since Samsung Multiroom seems to be retired? Help please 😊
Really like the way you review products 👍👍 I finally decided on getting the Q990C but have a question...the only 2 componets I use are a Panasonic 4k player and the Fire cube for streaming... what inputs do you think I should use for these...both through the soundbar or connect to the tv..Sony A90J .... just curious...great reviews anyway ....!!! PS...I do subscribe also 😃
With that tv it shouldnt matter. But id try both to see if you hear a difference
I just picked up a 990b for AU$1250 (US $850ish). Its pretty awesome too.
The 990c is retailing here for around AU $2100 which currency adjusted is bizarrely a lot lower than your US$1900 price. Go figure.
Anyhoo for the $850 savings I can live without spacefit pro. Glad I jumped on the clearance model. Thanks for the update
Nice. I just picked up the Q990C for $1329 yesterday. The Q990B is still $1399 at Bestbuy and Amazon
Hi Veg71, where did you buy yours?
@@Pete.C Goodguys - Its a clearance item now. Mine was the last one in stock at my local store. Got a price match with Appliances Online so should be there as well for similar money.
£880.00 here for the q990b and £1599.00 for the q990c 11/04/2023. That is an expensive update
I just picked up the 990c for $1100, thanks to the good guys having a crap sales year lol
👋Hi there, subscriber here. Thanks for the video. Would you replace the A9s with these for your home cinema setup? Or wait until the dragon comes out. It's been a year and still no EQ on the Sony. I find them too harsh on the high end. I'm thinking about selling them before they depreciate even more.
I need to listen first … I’m still pretty pleased with the Sony … understanding every system has its flaws
2023 tv or just a neo tv from 2021 with Q-symphony?
Do HT-A9 vs 990C
Sounds like they could have done all this with the software update instead of making out new bar which looks exactly the same.
Just got this for Christmas. I paired it with a TCL 75Q750G and an Nvidia Shield TV Pro which is what I use for all of my TV viewing and gaming.
At first it was lacking and then I plugged the Shield into the soundbar, it made a world of difference and it did pass through Dolby Vision. The sound is excellent and I am glad I got this over the Bose Ultra Soundbar.
(Just about) Always plug directly into the bar if you can - TVs can screw things up. It’s also not impossible that you don’t have proper pass through settings in your tv
Any chance that you would do a mid tier soundbar review of the Bose 600 please 🙏.
Not everyone has money for a flag ship Soundbar thanks 😊
you're part of a growing chorus hinting that I'm elitist ... I think summer months I will do a handful of lower tier bar reviews. I suspect I will include the 600
Should I upgrade my JBL Bar 9.1 to this? The 9.1 sounds narrow and lacks the height soundstage. The Q990B is currently on sale for $1798 NZD / $1,100 USD.
The B or C would be a good upgrade … I wouldn’t spend more than maybe $250 extra for the C
Would you recommend the Samsung over Sonos from the dialogue clarity point of view?
I think the difference is not huge but I would give samsung the win ... the JBL 1300x I sensed had very strong dialogue intelligibility but perhaps erred a bit too much into a center channel-y type delivery
Im having a super hard time deciding between this and jbl 1300x mostly because people say q990c lacks bass i currently have jbl 9.1 and love it, but looking for a upgrade, I've watch all your videos on most soundbars but u made a statement about how loud the q990c could get and that made me consider giving it a 3rd look, but i basically want a upgrade over jbl 9.1 also room size is 10x15 really value your opinion
Hi bro, in room size of15×10 can we enjoy all effects of jbl
Im stuck on this too, havent tested the 990c yet but seeing that there bass is hella lacking compared to the JBL (to which I tested and it sounded amaaaazing)
@JosephKiri1234 I just got a samsung q990c and I'm super impressed, I'm actually blown away buy the whole system and for the bass I use subwoofer location to help with the bass it's a smaller sub so I recommend using a cornered wall to help with acoustics and I use bass enhanced on the app, I'm absolutely blown away by the system
Can I put the rear speakers at ear-level height on my side? Just like many, I have my couch against the wall... Thanks!
Yes, decent alternative to behind
How does it perform when streaming music from your iPhone? Does it maintain a high level of immersion? Which method produces the best results for the music streamed from your iPhone to the soundbar: AirPlay, Spotify Connect, or Tidal Connect?
Tidal connect is your best option. But I always say playing via HDMI is the best option … in particular if you can get spatial tracks because it plays to the systems strengths
@@neverenoughtech Thanks for the tip! I’ll give Tidal Connect a try and explore the HDMI option for an even better audio experience with spatial tracks. Does Tidal Connect support hi-res audio and Dolby Atmos when streaming from your phone, correct?
It is a shame that Samsung do not give the Q990C hdmi 2.1 4K120hz inputs
Especially for the money they are asking for it.
They hold them back when the Q990D get's announced, they can proudly say it supports HDMI 2.1 4k120hz
Does it even matter if your TV has eARC? I'm trying to figure out if it's gonna be a dealbreaker for me
@@mannyk7100 it means you have to plug your ps5 or xbox into one of the tv hdmi 2.1 ports instead of the soundbar passthrough. Theoretically it could cause a few milliseconds of delayed sound when playing a game, but in reality you'd probably never notice it all. It's extremely minor.
I just bought the samsung q990c to go with a samsung qn90b 85 in tv. Was that dumb? I noticed you said you should buy a 2023 samsung premium tv to get the perks of the 3.0 updates.
3 months after the launch we still don't have any quality review for this sound bar setup. That speaks volumes about the quality and the need for this sound bar.
Quality review pending …
I am interested in experiencing how this sound bar performs with my QN95B internal speakers.
The difference would have to be dramatic to quantify spending 2k for this soundbar.
It would be dramatic but you don’t need to spend 2k to get a dramatic difference
@@neverenoughtech The 'Q' Symphony function is what interests me.
@@majorkursk780 Hum Q symphony no essential, does not work with all codecs.Never with dvd or blueray for exemple
we have the q990c and love it. just bought a 2023 65'' samsung i think its the q82c or something. Question if having q symphony on or off is better? Like the home theatre experience right now is amazing. Is it better or just leave it off and let the sound bar do the work?
Most of my advice has been don’t mix SB and TV audio. I think it’s probably a bigger win for lesser SB systems. In the end it’s a matter of taste.
@@neverenoughtech that makes sense. if you have the 2.1 sound bar or something it might make a difference but yeah probably leave it as is with just the sound bar sound
Can I only use the optical input on the bar so all my sources from the TV are pushed to the bar? Or do I need to use the HDMI cables?
I have 6 HDMI sources is why I ask
Throw your optical cable away and use HDMI Arc. Too many reasons to list
@@neverenoughtech my Samsung TV has a HDMI output?
This vs bose 900/600 with subwoofer for a 16*11 feet living room ? What do you reckon?
This
What is the subwoofer like and how does it go deep 30hz??
It doesn’t rattle the shelfs. But good enough for me
Is this soundbar compatible with Sony Bravias?
Yup
I have the q990b for about 2 months and experiencing continuous drop out of the left rear speaker. Anyone got a fix?
router need to be 2.4gh and 5Ghz enabled
If you have any bluetooth remote controllers (top notch TVs has these, like LG Oleds, Samsung higher class Q-dot TVs etc), actively bluetooth enabled mobile phones etc. then they might interfere with the weak powered wireless speaker board built in the right hand side of the bar (it's been put vertically on its back, facing the wall, because the speakers are facing at you, haha). This half-palm sized board is just behind several speaker magnets that might not be as helpful, too. So, there is a design error which can be fixed either by a new wireless speaker board or a firmware upgrade that gives a bit more of power to this board. Anyway, the problem can be fixed by Samsung only. You must ask their representatives. :(
which has surround sound/atmos experience, sonos ultimate or this? ty
Sonos ultimate
@@neverenoughtech sorry i meant to say “better” surround sound and atmos, the answer is still the same? Is is it 1000 dollars better? Funny ur answer surprised me given your thoughts on this video and the sonos one
I bought my q990c for 750 usd , and im very happy with it , i doubt a 4000 sound bar , will be worth the 3250 in sound emersion.
The audio value function is a plateauing function. With this logic a $15 BT speaker is probably the best value. That being said it makes total sense you would stop at $750
Am still wondering can they actually release a soundbar with no hardware enhancement over the previous years sound bar. Personally I feel it's ridiculous. And the price jump is more funny than stupid.
And kudos to you for the video. Waiting for review from you on this sound bar. ❤
I have to assume that they have something really special for next year (that was not ready for this year) or they really did some AI magic - leaning towards the former … I don’t see how much better they can make the same hardware sound with what was probably already mature software … but we’ll see
@@neverenoughtech sure we will see....
Does anyone knows if the Samsung q990c works perfectly with the Lg C3 65 inches ? I am inclined to buy this but afraid of compatibility issues …
(General Advice) I would recommend if TV is a concern. Plug components into the soundbar so the TV cannot impact sound as the sound.
@@neverenoughtech so plug the ps5 on the soundbar? and the sound bar to the tv? sorry if this is a dumb question eheheh
@@neverenoughtechThat’s bad advice. The 990C doesn’t have HDMI 2.1, it does pass through eARC. Best sound quality is running the console to the TV and passing through the eARC port to the soundbar. Hooking console directly to sound bar will degrade your audio quality.
My tv room is only 160 sqft. Which bar should i go for. Q990c or bar 1300 or bar1000
Because I think the bar is so much better I always endorse the Samsung over JBL on the soundbars
Waiting for your full review...
Circumstances get in the way but the filming is done - lots of editing left and have some other commitments - appreciate the interest
@@neverenoughtech Thank you for the update
I have this model and why is the space fit option always say not available?
Hard to say - my first question would be are you connecting via eARC - if you’re connecting via optical I suspect the option would not appear. TV shouldn’t matter but what kind of TV are you connected to?
@@neverenoughtech all good now, my alexa mic was off and needs to be set to on for it to work. The only issue now is that it doesn't do anything lol. Maybe I need a newer TV? As mines a 2019
I don't understand the "in port become useless" you still need to bring the signal to the bar in some way ?
When you do not have a hard connection between the TV and the bar, you can still send audio to the bar wirelessly from the TV. However, the two HDMI Inputs that send audio to the bar will not be able to transfer video to the TV. So ok you can hear the movie but not see it (I’ll round up and call that useless).
@@neverenoughtech ha yeah got it thank you !
@@neverenoughtech but you can you not have wireless for Tv to Bar and HDMI cable for Bar to TV? I suppose doing that negates the whole point of having wireless though - no cable. Asked and answered! Although if you had the odd occasion where you might want to use a cable to connect a streamer or DVD that you only use rarely and all the TV ports were taken would just plugging in a cable in not work? ie does the wireless actually kill the wired functionality?
Hello, q990b still hasn't updated the HDMI 2.1 port?
Both Q990C and B still have HDMI 2.0 ports. Although honestly do you really need that passthrough? Just connect your 4K/120 Hz devices to your TV's 2.1 ports and your soundbar's and TV's eARC ports to each other and you'll have 4K/120 Hz just fine. Most high-end TV's these days have 4 HDMI 2.1 ports (other than Sony, I guess), so you should be able to connect up to 3 HDMI 2.1 devices to it. Which is pretty much all one could possibly need since it implies they have a PS5, an Xbox Series X and a high-end gaming PC. Nothing else would even use 4K/120 Hz functionality right now and for the coming years. It's only useful for gaming and gaming alone at the moment.
@@thenonexistingheroso if I connect the soundbar to the tv with earc. And connect ps5 and pc in The other 2.1 ports I won’t lose any audio quality and have 4k 120hz with the earc port ? Or would it be better to connect the soundbar to pc and ps5 directly with hdmi 2.1 ?
I wonder if you could flash the 990b with the 990c firmware, provided the hardware is legit exactly the same.
I suspect Samsung does not want you to do that. I’ve heard there may have been a slight hardware change in the rears to reduce dropouts…haven’t confirmef
@@neverenoughtech Probably not, but I do wonder the same. It's been like a month since it released and there's still no proper comparisons. A teardown could be interesting too, I guess. Though I do think it'd be weird to re-release the exact same hardware with nothing more than updated software this day and age, so I am assuming there are at least some minor hardware changes inside, but who knows.
@@neverenoughtech is it confirmed now? I still can't find that info
I mean the improvement to reduce dropouts

Hi, I have a Sony Oled A80j tv and looking to get the Samsung q990b. Will I be missing out on qsymphony or does it not make much of a difference? Thanks!
I don’t really care for Q symphony. I think you’re trading a little more sound for a cheapened sound … other feel different but I see it as mostly a way to keep shoppers in the ecosystem buying a Samsung SB with their tv or the other way around
@@neverenoughtech Do you recommend this over the Sonos Arc with rears and sub? Or the Sony HT A7000 with the rs5 rears and sw5 sub? I have small room and I mainly watches movies and play consoles
In a small room the B benefit is reduced. Definitely don’t go Sony in this case. The Sonos is more natural sounding and reliable - the B has more traditional HT features like inputs and DTSX support. I go 100% sonos for my family spaces as I find sonos to be overall most refined … I would choose the B for any big sound media like action movies etc. there really isn’t a right answer, it depends on what features you value and how much you’re willing to spend … sonos is a safer long term investment I’d say, however
@@neverenoughtech I see. I’m from Malaysia and right now the q990b is at around 900usd so it’s kind of a no brainer right?
@@hh390 Seems in Asia (including Australia where I am) the cost difference for the Sonos vs Samsung makes the Samsung the obvious choice unless money is not object. Sonos Arc, sub and rears would cost well more than double what you can get the 990b for. That was the primary driver of my decision to go 990b. Its amazing too btw.
Is this better than the Vizio elevate ?
By leaps and bounds
Are the rear speakers wireless or wired in?

Would Q990B be overkill for a small apartment?
Yes
My 710b is overkill i have problems always with neighbours
Based on positive reviews, I ordered the Q990C. I regret doing so. Not because of the product. I can't comment on the product. Because Samsung has not delivered. And are now playing games on delivery. On three occasions they have told me to wait home for it. I have been told it can't be left with the building security guard. Each time it does not come. Each time I reach out they say they are looking into it and to wait another 48 hours. They won't cancel and refund unless i provide information that is not available without a trip to the bank. What is it like when there is a problem with one of their products? If you can't buy it off a shelf somewhere you may regret your purchase as I am. The purchasing and support experience is part of a system as well.
Their shipping and returns service is a shit show. I rarely buy direct -- go through a third party if at all possible as I am more confident about shipping and returns if there is an immediate defect.
If it's similar, why does it cost so much more than the previous B version?
because it is a C and not a B ... want the newest thing? pay up. I expect a precipitous price drop
Also does the q990c bass satisfy you
I am satisfied with the bass it’s not extraordinary - but the system is for the price for sure
@neverenoughtech I just bought samsung q990c and you were right it's got enough bass for the job but overall sound is alot better than jbl 9.1, and your also right about how loud it is, it's extremely impressive and clear at higher volumes
I have the q950a and qn90b
Q symphony isnt really good at all. I stopped using it.
The sound keeps going out of sync and when its in sync it makes a weird echo-ish sound stage that just doesnt sound right especially with speech. Feels bad that this most important feature is really a gimmick.
At least one person gets it … I agree
I haven't really read anything bad regarding Q symphony for the Q990B and Q990C. That being said... I don't think there have been many proper comparisons either. Personally I can't say I care. My Q990B sounds amazing with my Sony ZF9 TV.
That's why they don't call it Q-Synchony...
And that's why I gonna use this bar with an LG Oled TV... no problems with Q-Symphony.
The weight for the Q990C is the same, just it should say kg (not pounds). But seems like the same weight as the Q990B otherwise.
I know - was a joke
@@neverenoughtech actually I love your sence of humour, but was working all night and missed that one.
I ordered this Soundbar yesterday, but after watching your review I feel that maybe it’s better to cancel and wait for next year model.
If my TV has hdmi 2.1 4k 120hz and the Soundbar doesn’t, will it anyway work good with the Xbox or PS5 when the Soundbar connected to the eArc and the Xbox/PS5 to the TV? Or due to lack of built-in HDMI 2.1 on the Soundbar I can encounter issues?
Will be happy to hear your thoughts, so I know if it’s better to cancel. I don’t mind wait till next year :)
I have my q990b set up the way you have described to my Series X and it works flawlessly.
Wow dropped down to only $1240 by August 12 2023 😂😂. Wasn't worth it at $2,000 but worth it at $1240. Glad I went home theater 2 years ago. Soundbar systems prices are out of control
Finding the vocals on my Q990C extremely harsh. Almost distorting at points. Anyone else experiencing this?
It has a prickly top end … that seems to really bug a contingent of buyers - including you. Does eqing the higher frequencies down help?
@@neverenoughtech I believe I can only do that in Standard mode? which would leave four speakers sat doing nothing. I’m also a relative noob so wouldn’t know where to start with the different frequencies, etc.
I was ready for returning it thinking it was defective, but it appears it’s just the sound signature, I believe you described it as “fizzy” in your JBL 1300X review.

@@neverenoughtech correct me if i am wrong you are saying click on airplay while in smartthings app and password will show up?
I’m definitely going to ask a rookie question since I can’t understand the amount of speakers in this system.
Soundbar has 7.0.2 ch = 9 Speakers
Surrounds have 2.0.1 (x2) = 6 Speakers
Subwoofer has one 8” driver = 1 Speaker
Total = 16 speakers
Where are the other 6 that make it a 22 speakers system?
7.0.2 = 9 channels each channel may have more than one driver . In the case of the q990c the three front channels have three drivers with two woofers and one tweeter.
In the surrounds each channel has only one driver so the number of channels and drivers match
@@neverenoughtech now it makes more sense. Thanks for taking the time to respond. I just bought a 77” Samsung S90C Oled and the Q990C and was wondering about the speaker amount it comes with.
