    Hello Dave..
    How does this one compare to the Hype 4..
    I know there's a BIG price difference. Still, was wondering if it's worth tye extra bucks.
    How do the techs compare?

    • @TheHonestAudiophile

      Oh700vb bass on; Hype 4 a little less bass impact, slam and texture. OH700vb bass off, the Hype 4 is similar but not as much sub bass extension. As for the mids and treble the Hype 4 is similar.Hype 4 has a little more air and space. Hype 4 doesn't have as much detail retrieval and resolution but isn't far behind. Tone and timbre are similar.
      The Hype 4 is leaning more to neutral, natural and the OH700vb is more to the fun, natural side. You could say the Hype 4 is kinda a mixture of both settings of the OH700vb.

      That's VERY helpful Dave..
      Thanks for the snappy reply!
      So am I right to assume that if my budget is tight and I prefer a bit of spaciousness (as I listen to orchestral tracks too), the Hype 4 would be better??
      Or am I mistaken?
      Or is the Studio 4 a viable option for my tastes too?
      I don't care for a lot of bass.

    • @TheHonestAudiophile

      @rajeebdas1724 Hype 4 is a bit more full sounding then the Studio 4. The Studio 4 is a true stage monitor whereas the Hype 4 has a slight fun side to it.

    Hi Dave, Have you heard the Xenns Up? I’m thinking of upgrading and wondering if this set is too similar to it? They both price the same and from your description of this would it be a lateral move rather than an upgrade? By the way I love the Up but the upgrade bug has bitten me. Thanks for your time. B

    Can a set with a tucked mid bass be a basshead set?
    😮

    • @TheHonestAudiophile

      I think that depends on how thin and light the note weight is in the mid and upper bass. There's a balance to have a well controlled, heavy, thick note weight with accurate tone, timbre, details, resolution and texture. Oft times the bass isn't controlled, resolving and just turns into a bloated, muddy mess. The bass tuck will help to add in air and space but some are too tucked and get thin and too lightweight. Bass is a balancing act.

    • @larrydunn4626

      @@TheHonestAudiophile "bloated muddy mess" is exactly what a lot of bassheads want -- emulates a club experience. impact over timbre.

    • @TheHonestAudiophile

      Not all bassheads listen to club/concert style music. Speaking of clubs/concert style music, not all of it is bloated, muddy bass even though on stage there is a "basshead" band/group/performer. There are different types of bassheads just like there are different types of trebleheads and mids lovers.
