  • What an amazing total difference - better than 12/16!!
    Drew also did very well with the reveal, not hinting the obvious DSW to come after the $290. A small second pause, remarking the excellence...yeah, wh00t. :P

    Wow, that was close. That has happened several times when there's a Double Showcase winner, and the loser is within less than $1,000.

    • @joermnyc
      @joermnyc 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That was the old rule, now it's $250 or less.

    • @carexpertandy
      @carexpertandy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@joermnyc Actually, less than $1,000 was never the rule for daytime. It was less than $100 from the 1970s until 1998 when they raised it to $250. However, on the 2008 prime time Million Dollar Spectaculars, being within $1,000 won the million and both showcases, then they lowered it to $500 in later episodes.

      Good bidders often come in pairs.

  • @allenmui5457

    Two very close bids - Jacquline was off by $290. Jacquline thought she got the Double Showcase WIN but NO, only off by $290 because you need to be within $250 or less than the actual retail price. It was Lindsey Marie who was off by only $116 and got the Double Showcase WIN.

    Winners all about this clip, Drew especially with the handling of it.
    Last time I had heard of close differences and the result is a DSW was perhaps 1974, one contestant was off by $30, the other $29--back when you had to be LESS THAN $100 away.

    • @Hopeful_Libertarian
      @Hopeful_Libertarian 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      1975 was the only occasion I know of both bidders being within the DSW margin, and both were well below 100 too. I think that the $30 bid was the best ever to that point but then the $29 broke that by $1.

      Yeah & the other bidder was within $500 of her correct bid too.

      They suspected him of cheating and weren't going to give him the prizes, but it turned out he and his wife were idiot savants for prices of items on the show. Still, that takes all the fun out of it in my book. Why take a stupid game show so seriously just to win a few prizes that will end up in a landfill?

    I remember something like this happening with Bob Barker's last season, actually the last week of his shows.

  • @gsparkway324
    @gsparkway324 15 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Yep, that did happen; only that the other contestant went over- which was an unusual choice to go with the closer one first then. (I remember b/c my classmate was the guy who won)
    This one was a usual start

  • @JonesDylan874
    @JonesDylan874 ปีที่แล้ว

    YO. Credit to both players, for getting within $300 of their own showcases... it seems every time the first player is within DSW range, it's gonna end up being a DSW.

  • @MVillani1985
    @MVillani1985 15 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Is Lindsay as enthusiastic and energetic as she appeared on the show? I know that Price Is Right does that to everyone, but some people are just naturally happy and full of energy.

  • @canyoubelievethis220
    @canyoubelievethis220 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Right off you had to know that the other contestant won because why would he have gone to the person with the close of a bid? Bless his heart!

  • @quadrupleplay
    @quadrupleplay 15 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Sometimes even, if one is DSW or close to DSW, and one is WSD or close to WSD as to be on the same thousands plane, they will reverse it to DSW first.

    I didnt get to watch the whole episode cause i live in ireland so i dont know what she was like for the whole show but she is an energetic and very outgoing person in real life.

  • @MVillani1985
    @MVillani1985 15 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    The one I'm talking about had the other contestant get really close, like this one, but the winner get even closer.

    She was happy to win the Showcase Showdown, but wasn't too thrilled about how the grocery game played out (she made the mistake of playing the grocery game like the bullseye game, and ended up losing).

      1975 Showcase War, Terry (?) set the record by only being $30 off, well within the DSW margin & a new record. But Susan (?) missed her bid by $29, breaking the just set record by $1.
