“Men can’t lactate.” That part of her speach on biology bothered me because they absolutely can! Cis men have mammary glans just like cis women, however undeveloped. Cis men with higher estrogen can lactate, and after enough stimulation, you can even get cis men with average hormones to lactate. I’ve heard of cis men stimulating their chests to be able to breast feed their children before! It’s absolutely false and really just extrapolates the fact that she doesn’t know anything about what she is talking about.
Shes probably one of those GCs that thinks trans breast milk is like sewage water or something, "because men dont have natural oxytocin or prolactin" 🤦♀️
“The baby has been able to latch, but I’ve not been able to produce any milk,” -Petrona. Promoting the idea that males can lactate enough to breastfeed their children as long as they have enough stimulation will only lead to disappointment for most individuals. While male lactation does happen, if they’re producing amounts plentiful enough to nourish a child, that’s usually a sign of an underlying condition. Edit: So, I looked it up, and a male with milk production indicates an underlying medical problem, such as pituitary tumors, cirrhosis of the liver, or a side-effect from medication.
Bethany talking about how trans people existing "disturbed" her when she was younger is so weird to me, because I remember watching a news story about Chaz Bono and his transition when I was a literal child (probably in the later 2000s) and being like "Yeah I guess it makes sense that someone might grow up and realize they are happy as another gender"
Same I never saw a problem with trans people growing up ? My parents are a bit transphobic too and I just never understood why it bothered them . I don’t care and never did why people cared about it .
I remember seeing this documentary about a young trans girl when I was a child. I had no clue what being trans was and all I could think was „ok so she’s happy now? Cool.“ and that was it. It’s literally that simple. And that example she mentioned (if I’m not mistaken) was literally when she was an adult? It’s baffling to me
when i was little i thought being transgender was just like, a thing that happened, as in you could just wake up and have transformed into the opposite gender, like some weird wattpad fanfiction i have no idea why i thought that but i thought that it was cool and didn't have a problem with it, so i think my child dumbness was better than a transphobe's adult dumbness
I really think it depends on how you get "introduced" to it as a child. You are very vurnerable to anything as a kid and if you see a newspaper article with shocking photos etc, that might go into your subconsious and manifest a different opinion to it. I remember reading articles about trans women as a child and I was just like "Well, there are different kinds of people I guess, huh", nothing more or less.
I like how instead of saying "a pregnant trans man", she's like "a naturally-born biological woman who currently in these recent seconds, identifies as a human male of the male gender, who is currently 8-9 moons since impregnation"
@@TheJohnBordonaro As someone who studied biology I don’t like the term “biological” to mean cis because trans people often take hormones which changes their biology
I'm a year older than Bethany. I remember the story of the pregnant man on the cover of a magazine. I was at first like wtf?? I'm so confused. I looked into it and then I just wasn't that blown away. I was more intrigued by the dynamics of him and his wife's relationship and thought it was really cool. It was eye-opening and gave a glimpse into how different other people's lives can be. No judgment, just thought it was really rad.
Same! I was about nine when the story came out and I remember seeing an advert for a documentary about it. I was confused, because I had always thought only women could have babies (didn't know what transgender was at the time), but it didn't upset or bother me at all. It's interesting how she claimed she was a "kid" when she saw the magazine cover - implying that children are instinctively disturbed by transgender people - when in actuality she was an adult, with years of bigoted indoctrination under her belt.
I heard about it from a friend during Sunday school when I was six or so, and I thought it was really cool, because I thought men having babies was impossible. I didn’t even really know how babies were born at that point so it was essentially just “people with mustaches and short hair are men”….lmao and I was much younger than her. It didn’t disturb me in the slightest. She’s just trying to put up this argument that “trans people are scary/harmful to children” when she’s just a shitty person who spreads “loving” beliefs by devaluing others
I was 7 and I was so happy and inspired by it. I was like: What!? That's a thing! *Merry and Pippin in the firework scene* "Let's get another one" and immedaitely reserched it XD As a trans man, it makes a lot of sense now.
Yeah. At most it's something that you do a double-take to because it's not common. It isn't the norm. But…logically, when you actually investigate what's going on. It's not that big of a deal. xD
I've actually known men can lactate for a while now because my mom is a psychiatrist and some anti-depressants can actually induce this as a side effect in males. That was her "shovel talk" jokes to me when my sisters and I started dating guys. "If they break your heart, I'll prescribe a med to make them lactate!" It was obviously a joke but still stuck with me and makes me even more pissed about breasts being sexualized when it's LITERALLY THAT SAME TISSUE WITH THE SAME POSSIBLE FUNCTION IN ALL HUMANS REGARDLESS OF SEX! So yeah, if a cis man wanted to breastfeed, he probably could with the right hormone therapy. Not sure how those hormones would affect the quality of milk but it's promising to me that trans women/non-binary folk are being offered this option now instead of being laughed at or made fun of for wanting this close connection with their child.
A man's body doesn't create the the nutritional value of a woman's. It's not the same thing it's like shooting blanks there's something there but it's not the entire thing.
That’s so awesome! From what I’ve read trans women’s milk tends to be just as high quality as a cis women’s, the fat levels are on average a bit higher, but that’s in no way bad for the baby :)
What even is biological man anyway, I assume people mean men born as men, amabs, people born without uterus basically, but what is biological man, all humans are biological trans men were made men by biology I wouldn't even say males, more like people assigned male at birth because it can change, so males can menstruate But yea nobody is forcing them to accept that amabs can give birth but also they can't even get the terminology right because they don't make effort to learn anything before complaining how stupid it is
the thing is though, hormones DOMINATE your body. it changes your primary and secondary sex traits and your gross morphology and your mental state. in my opinion it is the single most influential factor in practical sex.
There have been plenty of trans females on TikTok and Twitter saying that they have a cycle, similar to a menstrual cycle and experience cramps exactly like menstrual cramps, just bevause they are on estrogen. This is categorically false. They dont have a uterus and therefor dont experience uterine cramping, or shed uterine lining or have mentruation. Im all for people doing whatever they want and identifying however they want,... but thats doesnt erase physiology. And the cramping they are experiencing is gas.
@@doeeyes2 that's actually false they do experience period pains some even experience it so bad they go to the hospital they take I'm pretty sure estrogen for it but yes they have a cycle not a menstrual cycle but yes a cycle
As a cis gal, I've never felt "erased" by inclusive language. Calling people "people," is not this outrageous thing. People give birth, people menstruate, people have pen15s. I love the argument implies I'm not a person, I'm just my uterus. Heaven forbid I need a hysterectomy someday, then what am I???
I'm planning on getting a procedure done to make sure I can't have children in the near future. I guess I won't be a woman anymore. Damn, sucks I'm gonna lose my whole sense of worth. Anyways.
"I'm viewed as someone who doesn't understand biology." Yes, correct. As you should be. It would be epistemically irresponsible of people and/or biologists to say you do.
@The Werewolf of Somalia I just had a stroke? What? 💀 Sex≠gender. A trans woman, was born as a male. But a trans woman is still a woman because SHE has transitioned as such. Its basic respect to call someone by their right pronouns and treat them the way they want to be treated. Don't expect someone to respect you if you ain't gonna respect them. It's a two way street
I love how this 19 year old was so disturbed by this magazine with a pregnant man on it while I was 8 years old, saw the magazine and thought “hmm I didn’t know that possible. Cool!” And literally moved on with my life 😂 KIDS DONT CARE!!
Right?! I had the same reaction as you!! Kids should be taught to be unabashedly curious about our world, not afraid of it. But that is what frightened parents do - teach fear. All it does is cripple their children’s potential, limit their brain capacity, and box them irrevocably into an echo chamber few escape from unscathed.
It is basically the same as these conservatives that get up in arms over the "horror" of an idea of having to explain a same-sex marriage to their small children. There's no problem explaining it to the children themselves, the problem is they are unable to get over their own bigotry to do it.
I'm 14 and my parents are both LGBTQ+, and most of my friends are LGBTQ+, and I'm not in the LGBTQ+ community, so I have no idea why these conservatives are so bothered by LGBTQ+. It's not like some epidemic, you can't "catch the gay."
I haven’t menstruated in two years due to cancer treatment. I find inclusive terms like “people who get pregnant” or “people who menstruate” to be more specific and more useful. Bethany saying that people who can’t reproduce “can’t live out the normal function they were meant to” is beyond ignorant.
Hun, that’s dehumanizing. I know as a woman I don’t want to be called my body functions, everyone says we have to stand up for women so they’re equal but as soon as a bio woman wants to be called a woman they’re called transphobic, a bigot, rude, evil, gross, not inclusive, etc. so now real women are just things that give birth and bleed? Wow, way to stand up for women.
Yes same for all the anti choice people telling us that "if you dont want to get pregant dont have sex". I always repond with "arent you the people that bekieve in a woman who got pregnant without having sex?"
she thinks a man becoming pregnant is "disturbing" as if a virgin suddenly having a fetus growing inside her, and then having to give birth, especially in those times, doesn't sound horrifying
She also assumes all people are either born male or female, and that all afab people are fertile and ready to make babies. Which both are just objectively wrong. The bible examples of wrong biology are funnier though.
@@scocopat457 Exactly, like I knew about gay and even trans people before that because I was friends with actual lgbt people and know that it’s literally just as simple as “they’re just people but they like/identify as x instead of y
It is about the emancipation of women, but to do that you are right, we have to dismantle the systems of oppression which affect everyone regardless of gender
Trans trauma: ongoing constant bullying, death threats, unacceptance, etc Her trauma: magazine cover bruh. Her revelation is like that of one of my classmates discovering that peacocks weren't mythical creatures when he was 16.
why do kristen and bethy have so many "disturbing" stories about seeing other people just living their lives and minding their business? it doesn't even have to be in person, a picture or a pair of shoes is enough to have them crying and farting and throwing up
@@blueflamingo4526 I don't know exactly what you're saying but literally all the science supports trans people. I'm just joking that these people are crying and screaming over trans people, being consumed by their base emotions/instincts, etc instead of using "facts and logic" like these people always claim they do. They're completely hypocritical.
As a Christian (and LGBTQ+ ally) it really upsets me when other christians try to use our religion to mistreat trans people, non-binary people, etc. like she said, we’re specifically taught to love, treat others how we want to be treated, and to never judge others (because that’s God’s job not ours). Even if the Bible says being LGBTQ+ is a sin (only the white-washed versions say that) who cares! It doesn’t affect you or me! Its no wonder why so many young adults today who were raised religious are now athiest/agnostic… 🤦♀️
The Bible isn't even against trans people, I actually dont know where people are coming from. "And he made them male and female" isn't evidence at all to be transphobic. And even the homophobic parts were written in by man when it was translated.
Unfortunately for many centuries Christians have been using their religion to justify oppressing, tearing down and destroying things they don't agree with or understand. They've never had an issue being loud about it either. And sadly, it'll continue for many generations more.
My favorite Jesus quote is when these teachers and Pharisees come and ask Jesus why his disciples aren't washing their hands before they eat and Jesus, like a master manipulator, twists a request for basic sanitation into a lesson about what true defilement really means. _“Are you still so dull?” Jesus asked them. “Don’t you see that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come out of a person’s mouth come from the heart, and these defile them. For out of the heart come evil thoughts-murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft, false testimony, slander. These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”_ I like to imagine one of the teachers responding, "Okay, Jesus. I'm glad ya'll aren't having naughty thoughts about murder sex, but it's still super nasty that you're eating with your shit and piss encrusted fingernails at every meal and we'd really appreciate it if your disciples didn't spread the fucking plague in our city."
I was very Christian as a child and I remember that headline and the dateline interview about the pregnant man. I was 9 at the time and didn’t understand it at all, but I vividly remember thinking about it a lot and the conclusion I came to as a child was ‘Mary had a child without a man, so this must be a miracle. He wouldn’t have gotten pregnant if god didn’t want him to.’ It’s so interesting to me that she jumped straight to disgust. I felt no repulsion. I thought it was beautiful because I believed god was kind and loved every man woman and child. It feels clear to me that she doesn’t believe in an objectively benevolent and loving god. Why would a kind and loving god give us free will if they would condemn us for using it in the pursuit of our own happiness and love?
@@annikan42 That's because since feminism succeeded in giving women equal rights, the feminist movement got co-opted by sexist authoritarian extremists who worshiped femininity and hated men due to daddy issues. Most people ignored them for decades, until the whole TERF movement started and new age feminism exposed it's true nature to the world: sexist man haters which also includes trans women in their eyes. They literally worship the female sex and it's disgusting, and any deviation of their sacred order is met with their judgement. (doxxing, swatting, and death+r-word threats) Feminism has literally become a cult and it's scary, when only 40-60 years ago it was all about providing equal rights and opportunity for women and all other other minorities. Now it's about the glorification of the "divine feminine" or some other pseudo religious occult new age crap and the purging of all dissenters who dare mess with the "natural order." They are (cis) female supremacists and must me stopped at all costs.
@@annikan42 exactly! I saw someone give the definition of "men can fertilize women cannot" and it completely excludes anyone that is infertile, like they have lost their manlyhood/womanhood. I will never understand how people don't get that there can't be a definition of gender without excluding people. Like, if you have a similar definition but are ok with trans people, I guess that's fine. But people suddenly try to define what was never meant to be defined, unless you're a fan of the patriarchy, is wild to me.
They supposedly feel empowered with the gender they gave tremendous amount of "history". Aka "tradition " ? That's the stuff they tell me. And then i go: yeah, you mean the many gender stereotypes and narrow minded decisions that put everyone in boxes
The fact that she got traumatized by a man being pregnant shows how priveligeded and happy her childhood was if that was the worst of my trauma I wouldn't need a therapist or medication
That, but also, she was super sheltered. I'm only two years younger than her and my dad told me about trans people when I was super young, it never shocked me 😅 And we didn't talk that much about it in the 90s, he just told me that people are born a certain sex and change it because that's who they truly are (he didn't use the term "gender" because again, we didn't talk about this much and certain things were still less known). I was like "oh okay" 🤷🏼♀️
when i was younger i always felt so bad i didnt have a dad, but only a mom. people would always ask how my mom could have me without a dad and i wouldnt know. i also was so desperate to know who my dad was so i didnt have to feel left out. adults should talk about the different kinds of families to children so that other kids wont have a hard time, and get depressed over something they cant control
The fact that she was implying that trans teens won’t be able to “live out their lives” just because they’ve changed their sex organs is fucking INSANE. Basically contributing to the toxic and outdated role that women are only defined by their ability to conceive.
@@rebeccacummings6697 Did you miss the part where I said majorly surgeries can fuck up a child’s body and something so permanent such as the unnecessary removal or replacement of a perfectly functioning organ should not be a child’s decision to make?
It’s not changing sex organs though, is it? It’s destroying a working sex organ and sewing on a rough lookalike that doesn’t work. So no children, no meaningful sex life, etc.
Not trying to be rude, but are there other ways to cope with gender euphoria when you are waiting for the eighteen mark? Don't gotta answer, I'm just curious.
"Hot" take: as a feminist I support trans people because I believe that in order to reach true gender/sex equality we need to allow everyone control over their own gender expression.
I’m glad there are more & more feminists like you who haven’t fallen into the TERF (trans exclusionary radical feminist) pipeline! I remember when I was a baby feminist in like 2016 I almost fell into that pipeline, & when I unlearned a lot of the transphobia I was taught & fed by society & by a lot of TERF spaces, I felt so much more qualified to speak on both women’s rights & queer issues (as someone who’s lesbian, genderqueer/non binary, & is very feminine presenting) !
Yes! Why try to impose rules and control over gender expression and gender norms/stereotypes. It is not helpful for any of us and completely unnecessary. I think it is actually hurtful towards everyone to have these unfair artificial limitations.
Exactly. It’s something that women always had to fight for themselves because their gender expression and identity was (and partially still is) controlled by men, social norms and expectations. For Bethany to claim that wanting freedom for everyone in that regard goes against feminist values is absolute bs
I do not like when people like Bethany speak on feminism. When you aren't educated on a subject, please don't speak as if you know what you are saying on it. She literally described a TERF without even knowing it.

I was also traumatized as a child when I first met my grandpa’s sister, because I had never met my grandmas and I had no idea women could be as old as grandpas, white hair, cane, and all. I bounced back
When I was little I found out one of my camp counselors was trans. My mom tried to explain but I freaked out and started crying. This is because I was under the impression that my camp counselor was a boy who one day suddenly became a girl. I thought it was a full transformation that could happen over night to anyone. Once my mom calmly explained that she didn’t just transform into a girl one day out of nowhere I calmed down and was cool with it.
im sorry but that is so funny that you freaked out abt the fact that you could just transform over night 😭😭😭 i imagine a child going tearfully "noooo im gonna be a boy/girl tomorrow" and its just a lil funny how out of everything 'trans related' , *thats* what child you was freaked out abt and i LOVE how your mom actually had to sit you down and explain how she didnt overnight-transformed is hilarious , im so sorry starcat but im laughing sm at that story its great
3:05 When I was a kid, I knew how to use my basic knowledge. I understood trans men existed. And I was just laughing because dogs can be intersex, it's just caused hermaphrodite. I don't think children would be disturbed by that if nothing is showing, unless they're disturbed by pregnant cis women as well - I remember seeing a drag queen when I was younger and I think there might have been some confusion but never something that disturbed me or traumatized me. It seems like she's playing it up.

THATS the disturbing part but not that they're a specific gender
If we’re really gonna talk about chest feeding, how can she explain how biological and even cis man lactic after witnessing cis women go thru that after child birth? Lactation isn’t ONLY present in women, it can be present in anyone even biological men.
I'm pretty sure you need a high amount of estrogen + other hormones in your system to lactate. Normally, men or just people with more testosterone than estrogen don't typically have the ability to lactate. I'm AMAB and I've never lactated once even when watching people give birth in movies and anime. Maybe than will change once I'm on estrogen but as of now that isn't the case even though the drugs I take (prescribed, anti psychotics for my autism and general insanity) puts me at risk for it. Trans men who give birth also risk birthing a child with a multitude of defects due to insufficient hormones needed for a healthy body, and almost always have to use formula which is far less healthy than breast milk from the birther and made in a lab. (breast milk is 100% geneticly compatible with the child for their maximum nutrition, while formula often isn't.) Feeding infants properly is EXTREMELY important for their later health and you need to be EXTREMELY CAREFUL with developing bodies and minds so that they grow up healthy.
Yea I remember seeing something awhile back about how some people are trying to find ways to encourage more lactation in cis men or trans women. It would be awesome if it became normal considering it would increase the supply of milk for babies
@@ksis86 I'm still biologically a guy and I've never lactated once. I don't think it's just something you can choose or train into someone. Are you suggesting drugging people with prolactin, causing breast growth and lactation in people who are unwilling? Because it sounds like that's what you're suggesting. You give actually sane trans people a bad name.
I (nonbinary) first learned about being transgender by the TV show catfish. In one episode, a woman finds out the person she was talking to was actually a trans man and not the woman he was pretending to be because he wasn't fully out yet and everyone was so cool with it even back in the early 2000s. As a kid watching that it wasn't hard to conceptualize that people are happy outside of the gender they were assigned, and I now consider that a pillar of me being trans today.
yeah also honestly it feels like we have gone backwards in some ways, plenty of 1990s-2000s shows have trans/gay characters, they werent represented in the best way sometimes but now there's less/more people are getting upset, prob bc of social media but it's still dumb... and people are acting like lgbtq+ is new
@@moonxliqht we did go backwards. That’s what happens when you just shovel shallow propaganda and shoehorn stereotypical gay caricatures and then expect people to magically understand.
@@moonxliqht a good example is twin peaks. There's a trans woman in there that's being screamed about for being masculine presented and even switched her identity to her old to crack a case and be undercover. Cos she's an agent. And people saw that switch as transphobic. That was the loud people of the trans community taking it in the wrong way. Also that she snuck in a house of criminals and managed to arrest them. The transphobes in this case saw it as a male that abused the trans identity to infiltrate private rooms.... In this day and age, not back then. Cos only now the amount of drama has canceled many shows. For the same reasons
Thank you for taking two seconds to look up how all bodies can induce lactation (not every body, even cis women, can lactate on an individual basis). It is so important to say when we don’t know something! It’s okay!
I didn’t realise that, she’s basically doubting her own God’s plan. If God really didn’t like trans people he would just snap them out of existence, but since they’re here, God would have to have intentionally created them.
Yes. Men, even those who have NEVER transitioned, do have breast tissue and, can lactate under the right circumstances. There is a condition called "gynecomastia" that certain medications can cause where men grow breasts and sometimes they can lactate in certain instances, too.
Before I realized I was non-binary/trans, I was taking risperdall. I think it was adhd medication. Well, I started developing breasts because of it. Mom stopped the medication immediately. Now, I kinda wish I kept taking that risperdall... it would've helped with the breast growth after I started hrt. Wait, should I start taking risperdall? Eh, idk if that's a great idea, but it did help with breast growth. Maybe if I combine that with hrt it'll boost the growth? I mean, I'm already on estradiol and progesterone already helps boost breast growth and was just taken off of my spironolactone/testosterone blockers. Edit* I looked up Risperdal and the gynocomastia controversy as well as what risperdal was actually for. I am not bipolar or schizophrenic, so I was already prescribed the wrong medication for my adhd and autism. On second thought, I think I'll stick to progesterone. Risperdal can go f-u-c-k itself.
Gynecomastia is even something that happens to some boys when boy puberty hits.... Imagine being trans (transfemale in my case) but not yet aware that there's a word for it and experiencing that happening at 14... The conflict in my mind of feeling "OMG what is this!! This is not supposed to happen!" along with "OMG, is this what it feels like getting breasts?" And then, right after that, feeling shit-scared you'd be able to see it through clothing, and right after that thought feeling sad you didn't see any of it through clothing. When it subsided (in my mind that took about 3 months, but it might have been shorter just because of the imprint it left in my mind due to how shook up I was about it) there was a new wave of confusion: Being glad it went away because of the earlier stresses about it possibly being visible through clothing, and feeling sad because it went away because it apparently meant my body was not on the road to womanhood just on it's own... Ugh the rollercoaster that was...
Usually that's basically all their "brand" exists for. It's the same with some political parties who decided to attack trans people or even worse, trans children: they don't want to tackle actual problems, they want to be able to spread fear, hate and rile up their voters so much that it will have real-world consequences, like banning healthcare, but also probably causing more physical violence towards trans people, because some people will reason: "That person in government is hateful of you, so now I can be to, right?" It's eh, weirdly enough their trademark: they accuse us of being overly obsessed with gender and our sexual identity, accusing us of wanting more rights than them, or upon a law change request requesting that laws that exist for cis-people to be a thing of the past. They can't comprehend (and don't want to, because it would mean they admit they were wrong earlier) that we don't want extra rights, but just the same rights as some cis-people unknowingly had for years, along with basically this: "We only request society to take people who do not fit "Male" or "Female" as a box to tick into account more."
It does though its being taught to our kids and being forced down our throats and if we just even have questions about it we get called phobes. People are trying to make it a law to misgender someone where you can literally go to jail for accidently doing it yea I'd say that affects her me and you.
@baconbits7477 Oh, really? Is it a fake scenario? I guess Detroit just passing a fucking law that misgendering someone is a jailable offense right? It is being forced down our throats it's in every movie tv show and video game. Wake up, look around, and pay attention to the real world around you. People can go to jail for getting someone's gender wrong, and you don't think that's a problem? I guess you think it's fine until it happens to you, and you go to jail over speech that's supposed to be protected by our First Amendment.
It’s also hypocritical because both of the girl defined ladies have been open about their infertility issues, which is why one of them chose to adopt! They also can’t perfectly fit into their strict criteria of what constitutes a women, just like many other women out there.
@@Chelsea-jv7fb that's precisely why I wanted to put that thought out there because a lot of the time it's the people who say these crazy standards for what a "real man and woman" are that don't even fit the standard themselves
Honestly, I think they just ignore it because it invalidates their argument of why they need to gatekeep gender and shows they don’t really care about cis women.
I remember that magazine cover! I was in middle school and effing stoked to see a man get pregnant. Then I read the article and was disappointed a uterus donation procedure hadn’t been developed yet. Felt like the article was a bait and switch to my hopeful teen mind (I always wanted to donate mine to someone who would use it) but it was a pretty cool story. Managing hormones while carrying to term is an understated challenge! He and his partner were pioneers.
I love the rant about how disturbed young Bethany was by a pregnant man as a child. When I was younger there was an episode of icarly where they showed a picture of a pregnant man and I was like “oh that’s funny” (it was part of a joke). Bethany your response was far from standard 😂
Also, she was 19, when she saw that??? My mom said she had a trans friend in the 90s when she was a teen and she understood, didn't care. What does Bethany mean she was almost 20 and she got traumatized 😅😅
I remember what picture Bethany was taking about. My teacher talked about it and I was like oh men can do that? Then my teacher said that he was a Trans men and then I was like. “Oh so there are only certain men who can do that. Their just built different”. 😂😂. So Yeah Bethany you have problems.
I think it’s funny that they refuse to use afab or amab so use ‘biological women/men’. But they also don’t say cis, so they call trans ppl bio men/women but also cis men/women that. It’s just funny that they sacrifice convenience for not wanting to have inclusive language.
When I was a kid, my brother who was 2 years younger than me told me about a man getting pregnant (because I’ve had an avid interest in obstetrics since I was 2) and I was super confused and intrigued, I asked if they were biologically female and my brother said yes and then my only response was “oh I thought you meant a male and I was confused, that’s really cool” I was about 11. To be disturbed only shows how sheltered Bethany was, it does nothing to showcase trans people as “disturbing”
12:26 yes, yes they can. All the biological groundwork for lactating is laid before the sex of the baby becomes relevant to development, so hrt can activate it edit: I typed this out before i watched the next minute, its nice that you guys looked it up and learned
Teacher here!! I was a toddler teacher in childcare centers for about five years. I taught toddlers and preschoolers art classes for three. I was working in a two year old room when I medically transitioned. I was very open with the students, families, and staff. The families and staff were very supportive. Conversations in my room were simple. Something like: covering what they know: when babies are born, the doctor looks at their body and says it's a boy or girl. As people get older, some people like Teacher Eryc feel different in their heart and head. Some feel the opposite, some feel like both, some neither. Then as the kids age up, the conversation develops with them. Never did any teacher say there's no such thing as boys and girls. Will this conversation evolve some? Possibly, if we stop singing gender with sex. Do I think it will while to there are no boys/men, and no girls/women? Oh hell no, she's on some other ish.
They always teaching that though there are teachers and regular people too saying biology doesn't exist. They are already saying that maybe look into what people are saying. I don't give a shit if an adult is teans but kids shouldn't be exposed to it the way they are and laments shouldn't be transing their kids at age 3. Just look up the family with 2 trans kids the youngest one is trams because his sister is I would put money on it. The older one is 12 I think and on puberty blockers already saying they don't want kids amd they don't care what it does to their body. That absolutely should not be done to a kid at all they can't make that decision yet they aren't mature enough.
@@fordshojoe8080 the fact is that there is not a large group of (of any) people saying that boys/girls, man/ women don't exist. That is a transphobic talking point. Trans folks know very well the difference between sex and gender, and we have no reason to deny facts because the actual FACTS support us.
I remember seeing the magazine she was talking about!! I saw it in the waiting room at the chiropractor's office and i was about 9 at the time. Although, my first thought was just "oh so he got a sex change to become a man but kept his female private parts? Ok." Kids are super accepting when they aren't taught to hate.
i remember the "man gets pregnant thing" i read it in a ripleys believe it or not book as a kid (probably 10-12 years old) and i thought it was super interesting! even as a kid i was like woah thats incredible! now im a trans man lol but still, i really dont think its that insane to think about as long as you have an open mind :)
I remember being bothered by it when I was a kid, the idea of a "pregnant man" seemed wrong, like why would he choose to put himself through that? Fun fact, turns out I am a trans man and was projecting my dysphoria on him lol Now I'm just in awe that he not only chose to live his life the way he wanted to, but that he did it in such a public way, paving the way for the next generation. Absolute king 👑
I was younger than her and questioning and it was a glimmer of hope for me. I know people would be “disturbed”, but the thought that some people were just neutral about it enough to not be a pure hate article, was something. A hint the world was opening up for people like me.
i started figuring out i wanted to be the opposite gender before i'd ever heard of trans people. no one told me about it, no one influenced or brainwashed me. i thought i was the only one. it was a relief to find out there are millions of others.
Sam you are an inspiration to me I'm also a trans man I start my testosterone next week and I'm so excited I hope to get top surgery next year sometime thank you for posting videos and helping the community god bless
It’s honestly great that we can slowly but surely move away from this bigotry and people can find pride in who they are! Doesn’t really matter but the correct saying goes „I couldn’t care less“ because saying „I COULD care less“ means that you do care to some degree😉
Yes Natasha, the whole transphobe thing is weird, there are so many happy fulfilled women like you who just don't care and they think transitioning makes people miserable, no ma'am ❤️🌈
I just love how there’s people like Beth who was “traumatized” by seeing a male pregnant as a kid, but then there was me when Cosmo from Fairly Odd Parents got pregnant I was just like aight cool. Then Poof came and they were cute.
As a person who grew up with Fairly Odd Parents, I was like "BRO THEYRE HAVING A KID???" instead of like "Cosmo's a man, he can't get pregnant.." and Im just realizing that Cosmo was the one who carried Poof.... still love FOP tho.
I actually remember when the pregnant trans man was in the news (I believe he was Canadian? Sth like that). My extremist religious family didn't even blink an eye at it, saying "How is that possible? Oh, cause its a transgender man, that's boring, i thought science was advancing". We kids just agreed But Bethany was scarred by seeing that? How??
i remember the “pregnant man” headlines, and i grew up in a small town in the bible belt so it’s not like it was explained to me in the most appropriate terms. but i’m 7 years younger than bethy and i understood the concept of what was going on, mostly because it’s literally the only plausible explanation? weird to me that one of these people who go on and on about the “denial of basic biology” could still believe at age 19 that pregnancy without a uterus is possible.
Of course men can menstruate, men is literally in the name. MENstruate. Bleeding for 5-7 days is the most manliest thing you can ever do. Keep your head high kings
ngl for the longest time before my enby egg cracked I was telling myself that periods make me feel manly. well, still do it's just makes much more sense now )) I treat it as a base camp training I go through every month
Actually a trans woman who was on HRT long enough (a few years) is in the exact same position to induce lactation as a cis woman who did not get pregnant. Like it is the same in ALL aspects and with the right medicine/protocol, it can works in most cases as far as I know
I'm a Dutch trans guy, and when I was about 10 I first saw trans people on tv. It was a reality show about a couple who were both trans. I remember being intrested, and also relating so much to their experiences (but that's just me being trans haha). Anyways, neither me or my sibling were confused or discusted, because it was explained properly. I now recognise this show as the first time I realised I was trans. So naturally I did the most logical thing, I totally suppressed it for years. So no, even an actual trans kid wil not 'become' trans after seeing trans people on tv
You were sort of lucky in the sense that there actually was something on TV that sort of explained it: I was born in 1988 so the information on the subject was incredibly limited, and the small amounts of times media did make a portrayal bordering on transgenderism, it was mostly for laughs. I was 19 when I found out what was up (I'm Dutch as well by the way, though going the other way :P :D ) and while I did let my hair grow out as a first step, I was pretty much clueless for quite some time on what to do (which is pretty odd, I was just about to finish school when 2 girls there from a completely different class and educational direction mistook me for a girl for the very first time ever, and it felt soooo good. A more "funny" thing for me is experiencing people who think "girly toys" is what makes boys transgender: I can always immediately shut them down and ask them why my identical twin brother did not become trans then because we basically played with the same toys...
also, "people who menstruate" is accurate. some cis women don't. some people who do don't identify as women...there are many reasons why this is a better way to say it :) :)
"i was disturbed by it as a child" describes something that happened when she was an adult. I remember that. I was 7 and raised by transphobes, i saw it. I asked an adult, they explained it and called it evil. I asked why, they explained it, i didnt honestly give a shit that he had a baby. And i grew up to be an nb
Yep, though of course they don't know that; they think "biological" is a synonym for cis. The use of the terms "biological men" and "biological male" show a clear lack of understanding of human sex. Any notion of truly binary, immutable sex is completely refuted by the existence of intersex people; therefore, these sorts of people view intersex people as simply having defects that must be "fixed" at birth and refuse to think about the implications of these "defects" any deeper than that. This is one of the main reasons why the "biological male" and "biological female" shit is so bad; not only is it inaccurate, but it leads to the continued allowance of mutilation of intersex infants.
@@katamariwar6348 while some intersex people do have to be “fixed” in order for their bodies to prosper properly usually the case is they can live how they were born until they decide if they want to get surgeries
@@kaitlincoulter1811 Yeah, that should be how it is, but, at least in the US, it's fairly common practice to perform (obviously) nonconsensual surgeries on intersex infants whether or not the feature being changed, hidden, or removed poses any risk to their health, or even if said surgery would cause health risks that would otherwise not be present.
I would say they don’t know anything about biology, but in school, they don’t tell you about intersex people, so they really do just know basic biology and never learned anything past that.
why does she (the girl defined) even care?.. how does some men getting pregnant affect her?.. like, it's not a deep conversation at all, it's just a fact: some men menstruate. period. she's just ignoring what's happening around her, ignoring people's lives, facts and science. no, bethany, it's not deep at all. it's just about basic respect towards human identity, towards another human beings. /neg to bethany also AAAAAA SAM & ANNAMARIE IN ONE VIDEO AAAAAAAAAAAA *screaming of joy*
A more accurate term would be that "people with wombs can get pregnant." While "some men can get pregnant" is technically correct, it ignores the biological aspect all of this which upsets transphobes. My version is both respectful towards trans men and nonbinary people while also acknowledging physical biology. A best of both worlds.
I remember seeing that pregnant man in the news back then. I would have been younger than Benthany, but I specifically remember seeing the news and being like "Oh, cool" and went on with my life. Not trying to pat myself on the back or anything, but its really not hard at all to just be a decent, non bigoted person.
Prior to this video I didn’t necessarily see the difference between saying “male” n “men” but it’s such a huge one! Thank you two for showing that to me
I know, (transphobic rhetoric follows this, beware) The whole transphobic "YOU HAVE TO SAY WOMEN have periods" talking point seems really redundant. In a belief system that claims that only women have uteruses and periods, it necessarily means that you don't have to say that a woman is the one having the period. It would be like "a creation requires a creator" argument. Also when they get angry about "people with" (biological trait like ovaries, periods), imply that women aren't people, they really expose their true colors. I like to lampoon this terf talk with "AHHH only FEMALE VAGINAWOMEN can have FEMININE PERIODS from their WOMANLY WOMBS" to take it to the absurd conclusion.
I love that they are up in arms about having surgeries trans people could regret but never, NEVER, mention plastic surgery. By that logic, they should be upset about that too since people could change their minds about it later on as well. It could interfere with what the body does, depending on what people get done/if the surgery goes well. Are we stopping to give people with high risk of breast cancer surgeries to remove the breasts that could kill them? They could not like it after all. The hypocracy.
No it's not hypocrisy at all cancer is not the same as being trans. Being trans doesn't kill you and is a mental thing not a physical thing. We just found out my wife has uterine cancer and is probably gonna have to have a hysterectomy at 30. We both want kids but probably can't have them now. To compare her getting that done to a trans person doing is not the same at all like I said if she don't get it removed it will kill her. If a trans man chooses to take it out there's no real threat to life if he doesn't he literally doing it for authentic purposes and nothing else. Well that is unless you think you're not a real trans person if you don't have surgery.
Same I was like maybe ten and I saw a trans woman on a commercial about lgbtq and it mentioned trans ppl and I was like “Oh okay they’re comfortable now, cool.” It’s just the fact she proceeded to call out ALL CHRISTIAN WOMEN. like f^ck you b*tch I will not be included in this bs.
I remember seeing it as a kid too, and back then I didn't know about trans people, so I thought he was biologically male and he was able to pregnant because of technology/being part of an experiment and I was like: "Science is so cool, what marvelous things they are capable of!" Basically I was thinking about something similar to artificial implantation, but I didn't know the name for it.
Why is this even still a discussion 💀 Plenty of cis women don’t have periods or don’t ovulate, and there are cis men who can even lactate and potentially feed a baby. And on top of that no one has ever argued that a biological male can get periods or get pregnant, i think we know basic biology. also im expecting a baby girl soon who is 60% likely to only carry one X chromosome, so i guess according to Bethany and every other mental gymnast out there my child is not really female and will never be a “real woman” because she’s not XX, wont have functional ovaries, and will probably never be able to carry a pregnancy. But if she grows up and identifies as a trans man that would somehow also be incorrect 😂
@@thatdumbass9856 it’s people who may have both male and female characteristics, or people with reproductive anatomy that don’t fit the “male” or female” boxes
@@thatdumbass9856 it’s complicated, and I suggest looking it up because it’s a very interesting topic! I was around 8 when I first read about a pregnant man, it was in one of my mom's People magazines back in the early 2000s. I distinctly remember a moment of confusion, as I was hyper-literal, thinking "but no one has ever told me a man could get pregnant", not knowing the intricacies of it at the time. I, just like Bethany, grew up and learned more about biology, sex and gender. The difference between her and me is that the basis of my education was rooted in acceptance; no one ever framed it as unacceptable or taboo to not be cis-het, it was just another way humans are unique from one another. Children are born with only love to give, but they follow the lead of the adults around them -- that's how kids learn to hate. It's clear the adults in Bethany's life made sure to vilify anyone who was different, or else she wouldn't have turned out such an unpleasant waste of cells.
Bethanys husband went through conversion right before they started dating🙈 some kindergartens here in scandinavia is gender neutral and use gender neutral toys/pronouns, but those are few and far between. Mostly the kindergartens here teach about pride and that there is transpeople and how the kids are supposed to react to those who are, but they do not tell the kids what do to or how to behave 🙈
Huh that's weird...due to the birth control I take, I don't really have periods. Guess I'm not a cis woman afterall, if we want to go with that logic 😂
I had the same experience seeing that magazine in a supermarket in 2007 and thinking „yoooo how does a man get pregnant?“ i was 11 at the time and i remember going home, googling it and thinking „oh that’s kinda cool“ AND MOVING ON. i didnt spend 15 more years trying to make sense of it
they can! sometimes it can happen naturally when you stimulate lactation and pump, or it can happen due to a (non life threatening) pituitary tumor! Saying that they cant breast feed is indeed, dumb as shit
The idea that soy makes men lactate is really more of a myth than anything. Men can absolutely lactate though, it’s actually a side-effect of some medications including antipsychotics like haloperidol.
I remember that magazine/article of the man getting pregnant, I discovered it in 2012 and I was an actual child but I thought it was really cool that men got pregnant and didn't think further than that. Children literally don't care unless u teach them hate
I like how she says God created man and woman but guess what. (Atheist btw) The church/Bible tells us that we're created in gods image and the original depiction of God was actually gender fluid, thus meaning that God infact made everyone with all the gender expressions
her saying she was 9 when that story came out made me laugh bc it came out when i WAS actually a child and i remember seeing it, being like woah, asking the adults, getting the explanation, and carrying on as normal
the part where anna was just taking a breath and sam thought she had something to say was at once the most relatable and wholesome thing ive ever seen on youtube
This isn't the first time I've heard of this.
Yes! That stood out to me too!
woah cool
Shes probably one of those GCs that thinks trans breast milk is like sewage water or something, "because men dont have natural oxytocin or prolactin" 🤦♀️
“The baby has been able to latch, but I’ve not been able to produce any milk,”
-Petrona.
It’s baffling to me
when i was little i thought being transgender was just like, a thing that happened, as in you could just wake up and have transformed into the opposite gender, like some weird wattpad fanfiction
i have no idea why i thought that but i thought that it was cool and didn't have a problem with it, so i think my child dumbness was better than a transphobe's adult dumbness
Children are a gift unless the parent is trans. Then it’s “disturbing”
I like how instead of saying "a pregnant trans man", she's like "a naturally-born biological woman who currently in these recent seconds, identifies as a human male of the male gender, who is currently 8-9 moons since impregnation"
please 💀💀

This!! God bless 🙏🏼
I wonder why I never see Muslims or Jews never do thing us "Christians" do as far as spreading agendas online
These are what defile a person; but eating with unwashed hands does not defile them.”_
I like to imagine one of the teachers responding, "Okay, Jesus.
He wouldn’t have gotten pregnant if god didn’t want him to.’
It’s so interesting to me that she jumped straight to disgust.
Her breathing pattern is what's going to get me diagnosed with asthma istg 😭 She is single-handedly making me feel like I can't breathe 💀

It’s honestly sad just how many transphobes equate cis women to being a uterus with legs.
and it's sadder how a lot of them pretend to be "feminists" like stop calling yourself a feminist if you only care about the wellbeing of cis women
Literally. Plus every time they talk about women having the "gift of giving life" I'm just like...y'all realize some cis women can't have kids right?
Literally taking feminism back to like the 1800s
It’s weird because people will take something so fluid as gender, and try to put restrictions on it. It makes absolutely no sense to me.
they always love to say "trans people are just a concept of stereotypes" while literally enforcing stereotypes on their children/pets/themselves.
They supposedly feel empowered with the gender they gave tremendous amount of "history". Aka "tradition " ? That's the stuff they tell me. And then i go: yeah, you mean the many gender stereotypes and narrow minded decisions that put everyone in boxes

The fact that she was implying that trans teens won’t be able to “live out their lives” just because they’ve changed their sex organs is fucking INSANE. Basically contributing to the toxic and outdated role that women are only defined by their ability to conceive.

Yo I think I saw that episode! One of the first places I found out about transgender ppl existing too lol
yeah also honestly it feels like we have gone backwards in some ways, plenty of 1990s-2000s shows have trans/gay characters, they werent represented in the best way sometimes but now there's less/more people are getting upset, prob bc of social media but it's still dumb... and people are acting like lgbtq+ is new
@@moonxliqht we did go backwards.
I found out about it on The Tyra Banks Show and Oprah damn I feel old

Yes. Men, even those who have NEVER transitioned, do have breast tissue and, can lactate under the right circumstances. There is a condition called "gynecomastia" that certain medications can cause where men grow breasts and sometimes they can lactate in certain instances, too.
I remember an episode of American dad where Stan just lactated on the spot.
One of the interesting things I learned before about biological men that can happen
This is not supposed to happen!" along with "OMG, is this what it feels like getting breasts?"
And then, right after that, feeling shit-scared you'd be able to see it through clothing, and right after that thought feeling sad you didn't see any of it through clothing.
I love how trans ppl existing literally doesn’t impact her and she’s still so obsessed w us
Usually that's basically all their "brand" exists for. It's the same with some political parties who decided to attack trans people or even worse, trans children: they don't want to tackle actual problems, they want to be able to spread fear, hate and rile up their voters so much that it will have real-world consequences, like banning healthcare, but also probably causing more physical violence towards trans people, because some people will reason: "That person in government is hateful of you, so now I can be to, right?"
It's eh, weirdly enough their trademark: they accuse us of being overly obsessed with gender and our sexual identity, accusing us of wanting more rights than them, or upon a law change request requesting that laws that exist for cis-people to be a thing of the past.

I always wonder how they feel about "real women" who can't do those things like have periods, give birth, etc.

To be disturbed only shows how sheltered Bethany was, it does nothing to showcase trans people as “disturbing”
12:26 yes, yes they can. All the biological groundwork for lactating is laid before the sex of the baby becomes relevant to development, so hrt can activate it
edit: I typed this out before i watched the next minute, its nice that you guys looked it up and learned
Yes Natasha, the whole transphobe thing is weird, there are so many happy fulfilled women like you who just don't care and they think transitioning makes people miserable, no ma'am ❤️🌈
As you should!💜
Fuck yeah
You’re proud and gorgeous! These people are weird, we as trans ppl are just trying to live 😂 love from a trans man :)✨
I just love how there’s people like Beth who was “traumatized” by seeing a male pregnant as a kid, but then there was me when Cosmo from Fairly Odd Parents got pregnant I was just like aight cool. Then Poof came and they were cute.
although tbf lookin back that episode was weird as hell
@@jasperjazzie true but I totally went with it. I love Poof.
As a person who grew up with Fairly Odd Parents, I was like "BRO THEYRE HAVING A KID???" instead of like "Cosmo's a man, he can't get pregnant.." and Im just realizing that Cosmo was the one who carried Poof.... still love FOP tho.

Literally misogynists in 1884: I'm scared of what the world will be in 10-20 years!
I actually remember when the pregnant trans man was in the news (I believe he was Canadian? Sth like that). My extremist religious family didn't even blink an eye at it, saying "How is that possible? Oh, cause its a transgender man, that's boring, i thought science was advancing". We kids just agreed
But Bethany was scarred by seeing that? How??
i remember the “pregnant man” headlines, and i grew up in a small town in the bible belt so it’s not like it was explained to me in the most appropriate terms. but i’m 7 years younger than bethy and i understood the concept of what was going on, mostly because it’s literally the only plausible explanation? weird to me that one of these people who go on and on about the “denial of basic biology” could still believe at age 19 that pregnancy without a uterus is possible.
Of course men can menstruate, men is literally in the name. MENstruate. Bleeding for 5-7 days is the most manliest thing you can ever do. Keep your head high kings
as a trans guy, i definitely agree. The most manliest thing i do once a month. 💪🏼
ngl for the longest time before my enby egg cracked I was telling myself that periods make me feel manly. well, still do it's just makes much more sense now )) I treat it as a base camp training I go through every month
bleed it brother
I literally opened up the comments section to make that same MENstruation comment-
I find that a bit funny, actually. ^-^
as a trans man i take advantage of the info that during periods thats when our testosterone is highest 😌😌
Actually a trans woman who was on HRT long enough (a few years) is in the exact same position to induce lactation as a cis woman who did not get pregnant. Like it is the same in ALL aspects and with the right medicine/protocol, it can works in most cases as far as I know
That’s pretty cool
Not all women menstruate but ONLY women menstruate
@@rhymerlegend2717, no.
"i was disturbed by it as a child" describes something that happened when she was an adult. I remember that. I was 7 and raised by transphobes, i saw it. Some "biological men" do get periods, though. Plenty of people are intersex, and this is something that happens to some of us.
@@HiBuddyyyyyy 4th grade biology class is not actual biology imo
why does she (the girl defined) even care?.. how does some men getting pregnant affect her?.. like, it's not a deep conversation at all, it's just a fact: some men menstruate. period.
she's just ignoring what's happening around her, ignoring people's lives, facts and science. no, bethany, it's not deep at all. it's just about basic respect towards human identity, towards another human beings. /neg to bethany

@@krimsonkatt omg yes!!! Didn't think about this phrase. Thank you very much! /gen
"People with wombs" is much more correct and respectful.

@@krimsonkatt How is saying “some men can get pregnant” ignoring biology? Biologically some men have uteruses and can get pregnant, that’s a fact.

A surprise to be sure but a welcome one
TORA?!
Thank you two for showing that to me
I never understood why these people say that using terminology that expansion to include more than just women is somehow erasing women?
Well that is unless you think you're not a real trans person if you don't have surgery.
why does seeing a trans man pregnant scare them??? i was a kid when i saw it too and i literally just didn’t gaf
i had the same thought!! i remember seeing that as well as a kid and i can’t remember caring at all. it was just like huh, interesting.
Same I was like maybe ten and I saw a trans woman on a commercial about lgbtq and it mentioned trans ppl and I was like “Oh okay they’re comfortable now, cool.”
It’s just the fact she proceeded to call out ALL CHRISTIAN WOMEN. like f^ck you b*tch I will not be included in this bs.
Bethany wasn't a child she was 19.
I remember seeing something like that and my only thoughts were “huh I didn’t know they could do that…cool”
I love you and Annamarie’s vibe. You’re like siblings that actually like each other
2:52 girlie got traumatized from mpreg 💀💀
Id absolutely LOVE to see these people explain intersex people.
Is that people with both privates?

I’m a Christian. That’s not an excuse to be transphobic. I’m trans.
Bethany's husband actually never went to conversion therapy.

“Men can’t breast feeding” I’m 78% sure they can? Biological or trans.’
If you are a cis men and have high levels of prolactin hormone, you can produce milk.
Ya males can breast feed , they can easily produce milk
they can! sometimes it can happen naturally when you stimulate lactation and pump, or it can happen due to a (non life threatening) pituitary tumor! Saying that they cant breast feed is indeed, dumb as shit
