Thank you, man! Aiming to re-establish a one-video-per-week rhythm again this month (things have been hectic!) so plenty more Huff stuff on the way. Happy to send you the backing track for free but it's pretty short as just recorded as much as I needed to track the solo! Let me know.
He uses this technique in the solo, for sure! Sometimes Dann will use all legato/all alternate picking but for the most part he seems to lean towards this!
Thank you Richard for this New Years gift from you to us! I really need to practise this. Question: How long does it take you to listen and figure out how you have to play such licks? Are there any tools you are using for this? Anyway, have a nice day and a happy, successful and healthy year 2021! Cheers
Hey! It generally doesn't take me too long to figure out the notes, the time is really spent getting to grips with the mechanics of it and trying to decide the most logical way that Dann would have played it. Once I've figured that out I'll spend a couple of hours running it over and over again until it's in my hands. I'll usually let that settle for a couple of days before recording a video so that it feels natural. In terms of tools- I've spent years transcribing stuff by ear so I'm fairly quick at it now but there are various slow down apps you can use to deal with the ultra fast stuff!
I can never get enough Huff! I hope you have a fantastic 2021.
You too, Chris!
Wishing you a great new year. You're getting off to a great start
Thank you, my friend! Happy new year!
Who would think that gem of lick would be in a Chaka Khan song! I like how you explained the theory behind the lick.
Thank you, man! I appreciate that.
New year, new hair colour ! Great lesson as always
Thanks man!
Love the Huff! Keep stuff like this coming! Cheers!
I will do, for sure!
Thanks for this Rich, great playing and teaching. As has been said, can't have enough Huff stuff :)

This cracked me up, man!
Love your channel. Very informative. I hope it blows up. Ps... Are you selling the backing track for this?

@@Deckylad Sure thing! I'll bounce out the track this evening and drop it over to you.
@@RichardWatson Thank you so much
Really cool ! So this is how he also played time to burn? I mean, the up-down-pull_off when 3 notes per string.
He uses this technique in the solo, for sure! Sometimes Dann will use all legato/all alternate picking but for the most part he seems to lean towards this!
