Hey dude, thought I left a comment but guess I never finished/posted it.
Thanks a lot for this face-off, cleared up real well what the differences are between these. I thought boost/overdrive were synonymous but guess they're not. Interesting how similar these pedals can be dialed in.
Im asking myself this now as to which one will be more versatile.
Good demo! I run my KiY with my Gehenna (cut) and Medusa (gate) so those bases are covered. Along with their effects loops and blends, it's completely unholy👹
True, that's a badass combo!
Dude that is a really hard one. I feel like maybe there’s a slight difference in most of the tones, the king in yellow sounds a little warmer/mids a lil bigger, but they are so close. I have the boost and have been thinking about the king in yellow but idk, seems too similar
Both pedals would be better with the noise gate treatment the Medusa got.
Otherwise, I haven't listened in anything else than my phone speaker, so I'm not yet telling much of a massive difference between the pedals, other than having more control over the low end on the Dagger and a bit more compression and the gain on the King.
I have the King but not the Dagger... Yet.
noise gate would make them more expensive I guess!
@@DomeNightbearer more expensive to manufacture, but the Medusa has it...
it's in fact something we're thinking about - the gate-circuit is pretty sophisticated, tho and will raise the price considerably. We won't compromise on the quality of the gate in a design for sure but a boost/OD with built in gate is definitely an option we're looking at!
