I agree! From the thumbnail, I thought it was a factory produced camper 😲 It’s _PERFECT_ ✅ Bravo, Endgame! I appreciate it has an aerodynamic profile, it has an AC unit that’s probably quieter than the common roof mounted Dometic model and I especially like it seems to have a pass through window into the truck cab! I’m inclined to prefer campers over trailers or class B vans but they’re usually too tall, heavy and boxy.
You'll last 1, maybe 2 nights max not being able to stand up in that rig. If you're making quality like this, go all the way. Middle aged++ are not going to buy if they can't stand up.
Aesthetically this is the most pleasing truck camper I’ve seen. Those are some awesomely beautiful lines. In Europe they have some good looking units too. Those guys are trying. Dave, you should put it through a wind tunnel and get it patented like they do with cars. Maybe you can sell it to a roto- moulding company to put it in polyethylene. Like those indestructible boats. Seems a new trend in Europe and Australia. Great journey, sir! Thank you for sharing.
Sometimes you don't have to be an engineer to design/build something as beautiful, practical, simple, light..................and brilliant! You are one! I am an engineer and simply put; "You hit the ball out of the park"! Excellent content. A+
Another advantage of a small lightweight truck camper: even if your camper is laden with camping supplies, with a base weight of 500 lbs, you probably still have some towing capacity available. Bring the dirt bike or ATV! 👍
Dave, making them modular was Genius. Regular campers use camper stuff that is poor quality and very expensive. If something breaks, it’s a big deal to repair or replace. Factory campers I learned the hard way, are garbage. Biggest mistake of my life buying a factory travel trailer. Constantly something not working, breaking, malfunctioning. Thanks for sharing
Hi Dave, WOW, I have watched numerous truck bed camper builds and by far yours is one of the best I have ever seen. I doubt I have either the patience or the time to make one but so impressed with your presentation and what you have done. First time visitor to your channel but looking forward to exploring more of your content now as time goes on. It is such a joy and treasure to find people like you on TH-cam who create such awesome DIY projects. I admire what you do. Thanks for sharing. Scott
Fantastic Camper Dave! Great ideas, and does and don't s. I just got the skin on the one I'm doing and its looking good. They are a lot of work but so worth it. Thanks again for all your help and advice. I could not have done it without your help.
I would not hesitate to buy your camper. Now as for a "factory build, mass production model, not so confident. I really believe you could start a small business building this very camper and sell every one of them. Probably most people would pay you in advance. I would !!! You're retired so enjoy it . Such an excellent build. Congratulations!! Looking forward to seeing your adventures. 👍👍
I love your design! It would be perfect for a cross country drive for a single person. It's cozy and comfy looking. The commercial truck campers are just so overdone and HEAVY.
Gorgeous build, fit/finish, and design. Everything thoughtful functional. The lines... classic car vibes, but modern and timeless at the same time. Simply, wow.
I'm envious, Dave. You really know what your doing. My grandfather built a cab over camper in the early 50's for his Ford pickup. Campers of this type weren't made then, you had to make your own. My grandpa made his with marine plywood. He lived in California and made trips to Washington state, Wyoming, Mt. Rushmore and even New York City. I remembered taking trips with him to Texas. He also built a couple of boats. My plan is in 2 years to build my own camper. I'll keep watching your channel with keen interest.
@adventuresofshadowdog i love the video of you and Dave and the other gentleman with the pop-up camper and the honest comparisons. Really enjoyed that, guys
Bravo! Nice to see a well crafted camper that provides all of the necessities so elegantly, and eschews the bells and whistles that end up driving up the cost, weight and complexity. Less is more! Great job, brother.
My great grandfather had a homemade one he would sleep in all winter…when we were kids and visited in the summer we would sleep in it. It lasted for years. Brings back memories from the early 70s.
I'm an engineer and your thoughts on engineers are very accurate but not all encompassing. Very nice job here sir. One could argue that your 9 iterations were in-fact engineering.
I was glad to stumble across your channel a couple of years ago. I wanted to see if anyone did this, and after some searching, you came up. Fast forward a year or 2, I now have built my own with similar guild lines to what you have done. In the end, it's a great conversation piece. You meet and talk to alot of different people who come over and want to check it out. However, the main purpose was to get out and enjoy traveling and camping. I.v had mine alot of places from Walmart parking lots to Ocean veiws on top of a cliff. The versatility is almost endless where you can go. I can even fit thru a drive thru...lol. Love it and always look forward to see what your going to come up with next.
Dave, you are gifted by our creator! Amazing minimalist invention. We the people (globally) are in Great need of your engineering skills, and of course, your product. I.e. western NC. They need 'em now!!!❤ much Love & Light to each of you! We are ONE!!!
Well, I'm a little bummed. I came here thinking "that looks like a camper I want for my truck" and I see it's a beautiful one-of-a-kind build!! Oh, well. Enjoyed the tour!
I like how spacious it feels, unlike other campers that are packed full of things. It seems to there are at least two circumstances. Either you are using it for a true camping experience vs. trying to live in it for an extended period of time. This is perhaps why your camper weighs less than half the weight, plus you are going for a very nice streamlined design. I would say you are a Craftsman more so than an Engineer, especially because of your fine woodworking skills. You know how to customize and make it all come together with your special touches. It’s a balance between the Engineer and the Artist.
You have some really great ideas in this one. I really enjoy the layout of 30% kitchen 70% living space. Excellent! I wish EVERY commercial manufacturer understood they should have offerings with less kitchen heavy focus. I do NOT want to buy a recreational camper that is 60% kitchen, 10% bathroom, and only 30% living space. With the lightweight and low profile, it's easily garage kept. Well done!
I dig the simplicity. A well thought out design for a single adventurer. Basically tent camping without the need to set it up each time... and a few _very_ nice extras you don't get in a tent like AC. Well done.
Finally, a truck camper floor plan I like with just a few changes, and it could be perfect. I need to be able stand up and the bed fold up .to create an open floor area when the bed isn't needed. Excellent job.
This is a beautiful camper inside and out having just the simple necessities and a very clean inside. I could see myself putting this to good use on my travels. Excellent design and build sir. Really happy the TH-cam algorithm brought us together, and can’t wait view your other builds.
Other than the height, it's looks roomier than I thought it would be. I was excited to see the thumbnail of the video, thinking this was a commercial item you could buy. I't been a while since I saw your channel. So I forgot you made these. It's an absolutely beautiful build
Given me some inspiration. Not a woodworker but can weld. Think I will utilize aluminum tubing instead of wood. Really enjoyed this video and your simplistic but functional way of combining the two. 👍👍
I have watched all your videos and watched your many projects. I agree, this is your best interior for one person. I agree--sleeping in main truck bed/cab is much more comfortable, really like this set-up. Thanks for posting your work and taking us along with you.
This is amazing. I'm really impressed by your skills. I really wish someone would make a pop-up style camper for truck beds that would close as close to the bed height as possible.
I bought a special order cargo trailer with 6 sliding glass windows with screens and a camper style side door and ramp back door. I built a wall across the back with a full width screen door and a hard door. So the ramp can stay down when parked. I have a leather loveseat and hand built coffee table. I do all of my eating and sitting on the couch. It has everything but a shower. AC,heater ,sink ,2 door refrigerator and plenty of storage. I built it to look like a beautiful log cabin with lots of things on the walls that you would find in a log cabin including 5 foot snowshoes. Nothing feels better than building your own home and this truck camper proves that. My camper is so nice that i would live in it and actually use it primarily for loading up the pets and leaving my home in Florida if a hurricane is coming.
I think a term that might fit when you said "non-engineer" is technician. Technicians are the folks who take the plans of engineers and make them happen in the real world. Beautiful work BTW!!
Of all the small campers I've seen for 6 foot beds both production, and by DIY'ers . . . this hands down blows them all away. It's the perfect balance on so many levels. Realistically , one can't expect much from a 6 foot bed on a 1/2 ton truck. Sure, anyone can 'add' as much gear to anything in an effort to achieve a goal or idea. But all to often they end up just up-sizing to a 3/4 or 1-ton truck. IMO you've struck the perfect balance of essentials & comforts in a light, well-built, functional, and good looking camper . . . .BRAVO. As for me personally, the only things I would have 'ordered' differently if this had been built for me would have been very minor 'cosmetic' differences . . . and that is just strictly personal taste. The camper as a whole is spot on ! Thanks so much for sharing . . . EXCELLENT work, design, and philosophy.
When my Grandfather passed, he left me his 1995 Ford Ranger XLT. It's a nice little truck and one that I'll never get rid of. This type of camper is exactly what would fit on it. Enjoyed your video and it's an amazing build Sir.
Your build videos are my favorite. In a few months I am going to get either a minivan or suburban and I am going to binge watch your content for inspiration. Thank you for sharing!!! 🎉

This is awesome. I cannot believe how much it reflects the little camper I built right down to my sink design (forthcoming, designed and materials gathered). I got a regular cap for 50 bucks and built it up on a riser so I could sit on my bed platform or camp toilet and move around. Storage is under the bed and different compartments and all my tools are rechargeable, light, flashlight, shower, sink pump, etc... You are on another level and if I must confess budget. Would love to know how your sink works. I have the same type of pump, gonna run it to a 4 gallon water bottle and the sink will drain directly out of an access port in the bed. I am spring to fall so not insulated but the layout, perfect. You hit it on all the necessary points and none of the unnecessary ones. Also I have a Frontier so my foot print is small. You did a great job. This is the Cadillac version of my Toyota vision lol. This is what is missing on the open market and you should go into production because it fits an untapped niche. Thanks.
Thank you so much! My sink system seems to work like yours (mine drains to the ground also). I would love to see a picture. My email is in my about section if you would like to send one over.

Dave, another masterpiece! Long time subscriber, and you never fail to deliver beauty and practicality. Your channel and talents are greatly appreciated! Happy New Year, you Rock!
I’ve enjoyed your video, you’re good at building stuff but you’re also very concise in your explanations and go straight to the point; a rare quality with TH-camrs…I have just subscribed Sir! 👍
Yes, that camper is awesome. Been hoping to make a camper for my truck, it’s an old truck and only has a 6 foot bed. Was thinking about using aluminum for the framing of the camper, I’ll figure it out. Thank you for your video.
Muy bueno! 👨🏼🦲👍🏼 I really like your build. The camper looks cozy confortable. Instead of the cot bed, I would use a piece of a sectional sofa with removable back rest to allow you use it as a bed as well. This way you can kick back or sit up to watch some tv or movie. A good solar power station to run everything is also a major plus. Thanks!
Very nice work. Well thought out. Serviceable and practical. My only comment, and not to be negative, would be a receptacle for a land line/generator, in the event sun doesn't keep the battery charged. You could recharge your battery(s) via a 120 volt input source. I'm sure you could find a place to stash a small 500-1000 watt generator.
Well thought out, layed out, and super comfortable. The simple system's, sink, solar, cooling and cooking are really great. Thank you, and kudos on the design.
That construction technique that you use is outstanding! As is the creative engineering of your AC pod. Gives you all your ac, without losing floor space in order to get it. :-)
Awesome video and Awesome off road camper, Very inspirational, I've been in the RV business all my life and have built a few things also and I Love the beauty of design and the simplicity of comfort and function, It makes me want to do something similar for my pristine Gen 1 Tacoma that my wife and I will fit in as we love exploring off road and camping, But the size of the Tacoma will create extra challenges and add more weight to be big enough for us and the Dog. Thank You for showing this!
Bravo! Your series has been a fascinating and inspiring journey on your designs, self taught engineering and ART. You seem to have perfected the formula for necessary equipment, for a camper that is basic, but classic. My wife and I have been camping in this and that for more than 40 years, and I am comfortable our being pack rats for carrying way too much, but if we could start over, I would like to think that I could try to do what you have done. Congratulations on your accomplishments!
Love this build. I would like to build one just a little taller as I'm over 6' ... And I would like to extend the roof off the back a little giving you a mini porch with the tail gate down. Thanks for sharing your builds !!
Blown away. Never would have guessed this was a DIY project. You're a true craftsman.
I agree! From the thumbnail, I thought it was a factory produced camper 😲 It’s _PERFECT_ ✅ Bravo, Endgame!

Very well made, I'd be curious to see what you could make for a 3/4 ton long bed pickup with a shower.
You'll last 1, maybe 2 nights max not being able to stand up in that rig. If you're making quality like this, go all the way. Middle aged++ are not going to buy if they can't stand up.
Fridge and Microwave were both good calls. Slick camper.
This is exactly the truck camper I want. Very nice build.
Glad you like it!
Excellent for the intended purpose.

Me too!

Yes, that camper is awesome. Been hoping to make a camper for my truck, it’s an old truck and only has a 6 foot bed. Was thinking about using aluminum for the framing of the camper, I’ll figure it out. Thank you for your video.
Great, it's getting better and better. My current box is your 7.0, and I want to make my own 2.0
Muy bueno! 👨🏼🦲👍🏼
I really like your build. The camper looks cozy confortable.
Instead of the cot bed, I would use a piece of a sectional sofa with removable back rest to allow you use it as a bed as well. This way you can kick back or sit up to watch some tv or movie.
A good solar power station to run everything is also a major plus.
Thanks!
Very nice build!! That would be
awesome for weekend fishing
trips or hunting trips!!!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Very impressive. That's a lot of camper in a small, lightweight space. Good looking too. Respect.
Simple, functional and efficient.. Everything I like
Congratulations. This is really a beautiful work
Very nice work.
Your the engineer of your life train, looks like your keeping it on the rails, nice build dudes 👍
That’s awesome! You get it!!
Excellent review of a beautiful camper. That interior is a masterpiece of design, textures, and colors. Great work Dave.
Thanks so much! I agree. It was a lot of fun to design and build.
Outstanding! What a dream of a well thought out / laid out design. Hats Off to you! Will look you up soon once I buy my next truck.
Beautiful design in and out.
Thanks for watching and for the kind words!
I think you have achieved your best camper! Anxious to see what direction you’ll be taking in the future Dave! 😊
Wow, im really seriously thinking of making this, great video and thank you.
Welcome 🤗
This is great! I saved it to the "Tiny Homes" folder on my TH-cam channel for future reference and to share it. Bravo!
Awesome, thank you
A very well made camper ...loved it .simple and practical...but I hope it will work well under very cold conditions or snow etc
Yes I did enjoy your video very much. Another great build. Love the lightweight simplistic build. Cheers
That's a really great design, and an excellent job of craftsmanship! Thanks for the tour!
After watching the interior part of the video you forget that this is the bed of a truck. Nice.👍🏼
Thanks! It is a nice little space
Very Well thought out and functional build.
Totally has made me rethink getting a van.
Wow, thank you!
Wow! Great job! It looks very spacious versus when you see just the outside. Amazing! 😊
I agree! Thanks
These campers just keep getting more awesome! Here’s to a new year full of cool builds and awesome camping.
Thank you so much my friend!
This is amazing as a home project. I also like that it sits on the truck bed. Really nice camper. Thanks for the info.
I am glad you enjoyed it.
Love this build. I would like to build one just a little taller as I'm over 6' ... And I would like to extend the roof off the back a little giving you a mini porch with the tail gate down. Thanks for sharing your builds !!
I'm a little under 6' and I like your idea.
