    Hi, Shilpa. I think the rules are different in each federal state. Unfortunately it is much more expensive doing the licence from the beginning in Germany, but in Germany you get a good and complete driving education. i observed, that many of those, who just got their licences converted, had much more problems in the traffic, especially in big cities like Berlin or Hamburg, as they were not prepared for many situations. so although it is more expensive, the education is totally worth. But for many it is just more important to get the licence instead of the proper education.

    • @FlyingAbroad
      @FlyingAbroad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes I agree with you on this point actually. But eventually you will get perfect by driving and also save money so I guess conversion is not a bad option either and also very much depends on your personal driving skills and comfort level.

    • @dchavan2504
      @dchavan2504 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FlyingAbroad might be true... I'm telling this because i experienced an accident on the autobahn as passenger with someone who just converted his licence. That's why i think it is better to get proper education :). It was just luck that noone was hurt. He didn't take enough lessons to judge the speed. In Germany you become a big fan of safety first :)

      @@dchavan2504not all conversions are through exams some countries have privileges unlike indian lisence. And imagine them driving here with just the lisence transferred without any training. Won't be a delight.

      Ours was not a fresh application. It was a conversion.
      And we had driving experience from India, and also got experience in the first 6 months while entering to Germany first time.

    Price update. 2021
    -registration to driving school now cost 300-350 euros
    - see test cost nothing is you're a fielmann customer and do it with them.
    - first aid costs 50-70 Euros
    - TüV takes 139 euros (practical+theory)
    * you pay more if you fail an attempt.
    - school will charge something between 40-70 for each theory attempts.
    - practice hours cost between 56-70 euros per 45 minutes dependeing on city and school.
    Lumpsome with the risk of 1 extra theory attempts with an existing indian lisence you need somewhat 4500 euros. It might be more depending on when you're exam ready how good your school handle your case.
    For lisence transfer you do not get lisense on the same day. You get the paper and you can use it to drive till you get the card. The card is not issued by TüV its issued by road authority collected couple of weeks later as for transfer of indian lisence you will need to submit your indian lisence.

      You only need blocked account for the first year, in your second year you just need to show sufficient funds in your bank account.

    Hi Shilpa. Loving all your videos. Keep them coming!!
    Just a question..how much does it cost on average to rent a car in Germany? Also, can you give us an idea about the fuel costs. I'm wondering if it is cheaper to rent a car or to use public transport?

    Hey, thanks for the info. I have a query about the driving school registration. In your video you mentioned the school registration as a first step to apply, but can we start with submitting the documents in the Rathaus if we have managed to gather all the documents and then register at school after the verification of documents by the Rathaus?

    • @FlyingAbroad
      @FlyingAbroad  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am not aware about a specific rule which states that one could do this, but the list of documents (which one needs to submit to Rathaus) does not contain any doc which is from the driving school. So practically it looks possible, ask at Rathhaus for double confirmation.

    • @MithunCJosef
      @MithunCJosef 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Rahul,
      In Munich, this is Not possible because of two reasons:
      - while submitting the docs, Rathaus will ask, which driving school we are registered, so that they can inform them once verification is successful
      - There is no option for Rathaus to contacts us directly post verification or any discrepancies, they always contact driving school to which you were registered
      So, IMO registration in driving school is First option as well

    Shilpa you give really good information about Germany but I have a question regarding my Indian License. I have recently got my German license *B* but they took my Indian License. Now the problem is in Indian License I had LMV and MCWG and in German License which I got is only B class that is only for LMV, so what should I do when I go back to India and wanted to ride MCWG.
    Is there any option so I can get my Indian License back because With out that I cannot drive a MCWG in India.
    They have given me a international License which also say’s only LMV.
