thank you for your service and your comment! i find this is a major problem in many films. characters appearing way too clean for the situation they are in. You see people have a weird fight where they are throwing each other across the room and rolling around head over heels, a fight where one person ends up dead, and the whole thing takes place on the floor in an abandoned coal mine or a haunted house and both combatants still look clean at the end of the fight, even the one who is dead and laying on the floor.
I was in the Australian Army and we would often have joint exercises with Americans, and I was always suprised at the quality of your equipment. Everything looked brand new, though I was attached to BHQ so perhaps they wanted to leave a good impression.
I'm very interested to see how this film treats combat related PTSD in women. It's not as well-studied as the male half of the equation. Way back when I was wearing the suit, there was an above average 'Vietnam POW Rescue' movie called 'Uncommon Valor' starring Gene Hackman. Hackman plays a War Two and Korea combat veteran whose son is MIA in Vietnam and presumed dead. Hackman's character believes he's alive and assembles a team of Nam vets to retrieve the prisoners. One of the rescuers is a former SOF operator and at one point in the movie he asks Hackman's character, 'Do the ghosts ever go away?' Hackman answers, 'No, but sometimes you can make friends with some of them...'
I could not tell you. I can say that I have been going to a Traumatic Brain injury group at the VA. Every Monday for 7 years. People have come and gone. But a few of us have stuck with it. Only ever saw 2 women join the group. One left years ago, the other just joined. I think its hard for the VA to treat and study women for PTSD and TBI because, like most Veterans, they avoid the VA. I find Women Vets everywhere, except at the VA. I got to a lot of outdoor recreation therapy with other vets, I run my own. I know they are everywhere. I just don't see them in my groups. Maybe they get discouraged because its male heavy and don't feel comfortable. The few that do show up are spread allover the country.
@@zandresteven7983 I absolutely agree. Also, I wonder how many women with combat related PTSD are folded in to sexual assault therapy groups. The simple fact is that men and women react very differently traumatic violence and the... 'sample size', I guess... of men is larger than that of women. And, of course, there are that subtle undercurrent of some people who think that PTSD is somehow 'cool'... I heard one guy in group say 'Well, fuck, if I gotta be crazy, at least it's a kind of crazy that proves I'm a grown man.' The therapist completely stopped that line of discussion and he and the guy scheduled single sessions. But with women in all combat arms now, VA had better catch up with that research.
I would definitely keep an open mind about the film. I don't think it will have the same tone as "Thank You For Your Service" for example judging by the humor injected into the film. I think it is meant to relieve tension about a topic that in most settings would be triggering. With that in mind, I like where it's going. I like the approach given that we don't see films about women in combat, let alone a woman veterans struggling with military trauma.
They got a really good opportunity to show why Ed Harris has the “suck it up” attitude. Presuming his character is a Nam vet when he came home there was little to know support system and the social knifes were out for them so to speak if they mentioned it. So the common action was to just not talk about it and move on with life. Meanwhile GWOT vets have some superficial support at home and a (inefficient as hell) mental health support program behind them. But stigma prevents many from getting help. Two different situations result in the same outcome kinda thing.
The stigma is also part of the misinformation. The changes that have been built into the mental health system from my first tour to my third are incredible. The issue is that older Veterans that do not see and understand the change are more likely to talk about anecdotal issues. Even if they were fixed a decade ago. More lack of information than a problem.
This actually looks pretty good. I'm gonna see it DAY ONE (if possible) in the theaters. I can relate so well, because I hear voices still and can still see Those who are no longer here.

From the walking dead to the talking dead 😂
Amazing! Can't wait to see this in theaters!!!
I'd have 2 pennies for Utkarsh playing a character in a show/film about a girl seeing ghosts, it's not a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice
Damn this actress plays a war criminal in startrek AND this movie?!!!! amazing
That actually looks pretty good!!! Better than ST Disco! LOL
Sounds like you need therapy to help you cope. That show’s been off for over a year now.
@@MainframeMilitia the finale aired in May 2024.
@@OptimusWombat Accuracy’s not gonna help your case though. You know you’ve been whining about it since Season 1.
@@MainframeMilitia have I? I watched the first four seasons of it. I _wanted_ it to be good. I gave season 1 a passing grade because it usually takes two seasons for a Star Trek show to hit its stride. I actually liked season 2 and hoped it had turned a corner. Season 4 was terrible, though. It took them an entire season to solve a mystery that the TNG crew could have solved in a two-parter.
@@MainframeMilitia I feel like you get yourself off on feeling outraged that people aren't marvelling at the greatness of Discovery.
Hell yea! Natalie Morales is so underrated.
In fairytale this scene was emotional I wonder how'd they pull the heart strings
If she died from playing chicken with a sniper then she had it coming
Legion M is putting out some nice films
Love this cast!!! 🥰
Such an interesting take on PTSD. I have got to see this.
I am very interested in their take on women in combat and the effects of PTSD on them.
THANK YOU FOR THIS TRAILER - MARKED MY CALENDAR.
Also, THATS CAPTAIN MICHAEL BURNHAM FROM STAR TREK DISCOVERY, who is fucking amazing.
I was interested until I realized I misread the title and that it was not in fact "My Dead Friend Zone". that would be a better movie.
"official trailer" jesus christ the audio bitrate is trash as hell. maybe reupload?
Sonequa Martin-Green? Count me in!
Let’s Fly 😅
As a Black man, the "I'm a Black person in America" line, whether in a movie or TV show or IRL, is a massive red flag. But as a veteran, the movie looks... interesting.
Red flag? As in being a black person in America is a red flag cause it really does suck?
She didn't say I'm a black person, she said I'm a black woman. And before you ask, yes, it's different
so u though he being black wouldn't be a part pf the movie n no way lmao. doesn't really seem like the movie is gonna focus heavy on that. i mean she got a white father lol
@@KimandKamJam No. It's not.
Okay , What the Hell 😮 hope it shows in my city so I can see it.
A real VA group is filled with three combat vets barely hanging on and losing their minds, and four other people crying because they had a hard time.
My ghosts aren’t that clingy. They stick around for a couple days in the apartment and leave. Everybody else, they’re hanging out everywhere.
The ending is ... they are both dead?
Morgan Freeman letting his inner Lou Gossett Jr. out.
I used to live in Molalla?!? Is this for real?
Glad to see Natalie Morales in more stuff
Sonequa Martin-Green and Natalie Morales is a team up I never knew I needed.
Can’t wait!
The lady playing Zoe is the one who’s a pediatrician on Grey’s Anatomy
from Bangladesh 🇧🇩
Sniper out there.. Goes out with Chem sticks and make noise
Gets shot
😮😮😮😮😮
this is an interesting premise. looking forward to seeing this
Whhat is with the audio quality
they DEIed the heck outta StarTrek Discovery with this actress in the lead, and now we are gonna get a movie with her doing it? can we get over the oppression narratives and just enjoy a movie?
She was hot in the Walking Dead and still hot now. ( Sonequa Martin-Green ) reminds me of Angela Basset
She does.
She was terrible in Star Trek Discovery.
Looks interesting
Meanwhile The VA out here tam bout some "Here's some wicked addictive pain meds for ya you be a good boy now and I'll see you in the next 5 years"
