this DMR app is a great idea. I already have DMR equipment but now I have enabled other people to get their Tech license due to this low cost entry into DMR.
I have not been able to get Droidstar to work. I'm not sure if it is a problem with my local install, or a problem with my phone model, or a problem with Droidstar edit: or a problem with the user end of the user interface. I will have to dive back in and give it another try. As far as I know, I had everything set up. I waited many days for my login to populate. But, I never could connect. Wish me luck; I'll use this video by the letter as best I can lol
I know this was asked awhile ago and you probably got your answer, but I thought others might find the answer useful. I just went through this process and it took about 2 days for my DMRID to be recognized by the DroidStar app. TGIF took about a day and Brandmeister was fairly immediate.
Hello I install the APP and then I insert my call, ID, passwd. I connect to the Austrian DMR Server and make a connect. Then I make a call to TG 9 but this can't come here so I change to the more international TG 232 and this is working but only a loud noise is listen. This hiss is loud and I can regulate the mic gain from 10 - 90 but the hiss is loud and you can't understand nothing. Also the receiving is impossible no level viewable and no audio during TX. Can you please tell me why? BR weakbit
Great video.. after going tru the steps I am getting an error "Invalid DMR ID" when clicking the connect button. Please suggest if any steps more to be done..

Using software without the AMBE-3000 Vocoder can get People banned from the different platforms because they can produce really bad audio and cause other issues, especially on D-Star, from what I am aware at this point in time D-Star networks do not allow use of software without the AMBE-3000 hardware.IF you want to transmit then be safer to use the dvmega dv stick 30 and blue dv software which works extremely well and I've got good audio reports with bose headset but the tx audio level needs to be adjusted on all modes, once done it can sound really good.
You are absolutely right sir. However did you listen to my opening statement? I said if you want to get a feel of DMR first before buying the equipment, this may be an option for you. I live in India, where the equipment is not so easily available. We have to import most of the equipment on personal level. We pay almost double the cost for the same item that outside world pays for. This is a good solution for us to try out, to see if we enjoy it, before investing into it. I am really proud of the hams in India, who have continued to grow in this hobby even without ease of availability of basic equipment like antenna analyser, radios or ready made antennas at a reasonable cost.
DMR, D-Star, Fusion etc is just another way for people to communicate, you still need a license because as you are probably aware you could be linked to many different repeaters. I use the Anytone 878 + Openspot 3 in the car which is dead handy when I can't have a HF setup and the openspot 3 via 878 allows me to crossmode easily between D-Star, Fusion and DMR but there is a steep learning curve not to mention days or weeks learning to perfect a code plug to allow this but once set up it works amazingly well. How long did you wait for the 'invalid credentials' error message to disappear? Also, did you download any vocoder?

I agree. But it is cool to be able to get a taste of DMR without a big investment in equipment. Additionally it's cool making these contacts.
