Thanks to Japanese earthquake resistance standards, not all houses collapsed, but many still did. The reason for this is that the region suffers from earthquake swarms and has been hit by major earthquakes in recent years. As a result, the frames of the houses were damaged and collapsed when the largest quake hit.
@@scottporter4524Japanese houses and buildings are built to withstand strong earthquakes, since they’re so common in the country, so it’s surprising they collapsed

I'm not sure if its from the same earthquake but I saw a video from some divers underwater. They were getting tossed around pretty badly. That would be scary since there is absolutely nothing you could do about it. Then when you survive it would turn into one of the coolest experiences of your life.

Guys… Japan has had LOTS of earthquakes… if you knew a minimum of geography, you’d know there’s a reason all those earthquakes happen. they are ready for them, they have 2-3 richter magnitude earthquakes almost every day. They are ready for them Wake up
It doesn't matter how ready you are, it's still life-threatening. You can follow all the building codes, but it won't ensure your life or that your house will remain standing. And as someone who lives in the Noto area, I can confirm the damage is very bad. There are nearly entire villages that were either collapsed or swept out in the tsunami.
@@foreverkyle2266 Totally agree. I'm comparing Japan with my country where if we would be hit by a 9 degrees earthquake... nothing will stand still. Not even the new buildings. These guys are prepared, compared to most of Europe.
its more so for high-rises and commercial areas rather than residential areas. Also this earthquake was shallow, shallow earthquakes are far more damaging the deep ones. Causes the ground to shake harder and faster.
Codes are revised. Some of these houses could be well beyond 25 years old.... older houses were commonly built with very heavy tiled roofs because these withstand typhoons better than lighter structures. The heavy roofs tend to collapse the building beneath them during a strong quake. Newer homes have lighter roofing structures.
No we aren't 😂 our own country is barely holding on 😂😂 we had to ask help from an Australian engineer to rescue workers trapped in a tunnel even though our country has so many "engineers" there is no help we can provide
Frequent thieves have been seen stealing vans carrying foreigners. Electric wires and metal items are also being stolen. Can't you do something about it?

Japan is such a beautiful country…why is it always hit by earthquakes and tsunamis?
Because it's in or near the Ring of Fire
😂😂😂
Experts can correct me on this but I remember it's because their country is very close to tectonic plates.
Because they're located near/on a major fault line
