You’re absolutely correct man. I am switching to Rode Caster video from Atem mini Pro ISO because of the audio integration. For almost a year I have been using Atem mini even with Rode Caster Pro 2, my biggest issue is audio. It has been one audio problem to another. I have tried different audio cables with no clear improvement. I think with more software updates and improvements down the line, Rode Caster Video will shine. Thanks.

I would LOVE to see one of these shorter videos focused on the auto switching feature. Auto switching is a game changer for podcasters and podcast producers. Specific questions I have: 1. Does the auto switching on the Rodecaster Video use ALL of the mic inputs? Meaning both XLR input and usb inputs. 2. Can you only link one audio input to one video angle? For example, if I have a two person podcast with three video angles running into the switcher (a tight on each person and a wide capturing both) is there a way to add the third wide angle into the auto switch cut? Or would the Rodecaster Video only be able to switch between their two tight shots, leaving me to add the third angle in manually later in the edit? My personal opinion: Rode should create a Rodecaster Pro 2/Rodcaster Video hybrid that is instead of being live production focused, is podcaster focused. Thanks Tom! Really appreciate all the effort and detail you bring to this industry!
I agree, this would be the ultimate piece of gear. The delay factor is important. I run a Rodecaster in a university, where academic staff often have a guest on a Teams meeting via the phone or USB connection. There is isn't a delay for a normal audio podcast, but if you could pipe that video through to the stream, I'm wondering whether it would become a factor.
Thank you this is exactly what I needed to see. I use 3 xlr's in my studio with my rode caster II and I want to start live streaming so I need to connect the 2 devices.
There's definitely a learning curve, but they've done a great job!

Coooool. This answered a lot of my questions (I do own a combo Duo with ATEm mini and ext recorder) and I need more estamina and the possibility of Wireless and XLR mic. Cool. Really Cool.
I really appreciate all of the tech knowledge you give us. One question I have been trying to figure out is if the Rodecaster Video will give you individual audio track recordings when you have a rodecaster pro 2 connected to it or do you still need to record on the rodecaster pro 2 to have separate audio tracks?
Is there a way to get the Rodecaster Video to auto switch cameras depending on who is talking but still using the sound from the Rodecaster Pro (audio)? Or does that feature only work when XLR’s are plugged directly into the Rodecaster Video?
Oh yes, I defo see scenarios for the use of additional "Casters", specially if we've already have them around. In my cases I can arrange for several speakers easily managed both audio and video wise with a Rødecaster Video & RC Pro II. And with that I've become a Caster Blaster! These kinds of setups with Røde products gathered in a production makes sure it's the same eko system, but hey, we could also use any old analogue mixer with many channels of audio, and then find a way to connect to the RC Video. Sustainability is the word 🙂
I think the thing that would bring this to perfection is if they made the Video smaller, and gave it capture card capabilities. Imagine Streaming games, and you could use it to switch from Console to Console on a whim for streaming purposes. Especially since they added the new Virtual Channels, and Faders. Would make a perfect shoe-in for that.
Currently no. The only audio sources that work via USB are Rode USB mics and the Rodecaster Pro 2/Duo. You could run the stereo 1/4" outputs on the P8 into one or both of the XLR inputs though 👍 Thank you for the support!
Question, how many cameras are you using for your video? Also are you switching views with the rodecaster video in real time or are you just viewing the different angles from a software that comes with it and then editing afterwards?
This thing is incredible. I have the Rodecaster Pro2, and I love it, but I’m concerned about reliability with this product. This a lot of money and it’s got to perform without hiccups. And it does ISO- incredible. I’m considering the Roland SR20HD- but I say this and now you got me thinking. By the way great video. Makes me want to buy this. But I’m hesitant
I can only share my experience/what I know, so take that for what it's worth, but it's been extremely reliable for me so far. This is definitely not a rushed product- they've been developing it for years and I think they know that the established "pro" market doesn't really have any tolerance for bugs or reliability issues. You only get one chance to make a first impression in a new market and Rode seems to be taking that very seriously. It's one of the reasons why I think some features are "missing" (even though it can already do a lot). They could probably add all kinds of extra stuff right now, but they're not going to until it's gone through ridiculous amounts of testing. Any problems I have have been user error 😅, but the RCV itself so far hasn't skipped a beat in any way.
I can't see it, but enough people have mentioned it that it must be there. If there is, it's definitely just user error though, and not anything do with the RCV.

Do you know if a Zoom Portrak P8 can connect with the Rodecaster Video? I already have t2 of the Zooms and I'm trying to avoid having to purchase both the Rodecaster Video and Rodecaster Pro. I'm hoping my existing equipment will pair with it.
Tom you are a legend! We are finally getting around to building a podcast studio in my school, and want to be able to get 4 mics on. So will pick these up. Any advice on cameras? I would like to set-up 3-cameras...I am leaning toward Canon R6ii - but feel like there could be a better 3-camera solution...Any advice?
Price kinda depends on the type of setup. The RCV is way more expensive than the basic ATEM Mini Pro, but if you’re getting one of the ISO models plus a Rodecaster for audio, then it ends up being cheaper.
With this current setup in your video, what’s the best way to monitor audio? Cause I noticed there’s an audio delay in my headphones when connected to Headphones1 of RCV. It’s very slight delay in monitoring only but not on the video output (live output) it’s only when talking. I hope you can answer this. Thank you so much!
Tom, loving your videos. I'm setting myself up for podcasting and video. I have a pre-existing Rode Procaster mic and an old ATEM MINI. What would you recommend for someone just getting setup and wanting to do things properly. I'm thinking about getting the Rodecaster Duo and pairing it with the ATEM MINI, but is this something you'd choose if you were starting over these days?
Hey Tom, thanks for this breakdown. I recently purchased a Rode Interview Pro and tried to connect it to my Rodecaster Pro 2, but found out that wireless mics can only be used on the XLR tracks, so it's not serving as an expansion so much as an enhancement, if that makes sense. Do you know if you can use 2 wireless mics in addition to 2 XLR mics on the Rodecaster Video, or does it have the same limitations as the RCP2?
You know, you're totally right about the RCP limitation! I don't think I quite put that together. But to answer your question, yes the RCV can use the XLR combo jacks AND wireless inputs at the same time.
Worked just fine, Do you know how to put combo1 onto fader 5 of rodecaster proii, and combo 2 onto fader 6. I can get both to go onto 5 with no issue, but I don't see were to split them up. Thank you.
Hey Tom! Appreciate your videos! Very helpful - like how you play with language. Quick question: what cable do I have to use to connect a Sony ZV e10 to the RCV! So far I use a usb c cable and run it directly into my notebook and then use OBS. Would that be then a usb c to hdmi cable? Thanks!
Hey thanks for the kind words! Right now it doesn't seem like Sony cameras are compatible as webcams via USB, so you'd need a micro to full size HDMI like this: geni.us/sk4F
The real question is: can you use auto camera switching based on the 4 xlr inputs of the pro? Auto scene switching is the killer feature… but not if it only works with the two built in xlr’s.
@@tombuck This is a big let down for me. Auto-mixing would be great paired up with a Rodecaster Pro II if only the individual channels could be recognized by the RCV. Hopefully a future firmware update can make this a possibility. The USB output does do multi-track, so I'll keep my fingers crossed.
Great videos Tom - both of them on the rodecaster video. Do you know if this device will work with Microsoft teams for a live meeting use case? ATEMs make is more clear that they are compatible with Teams. Thank you.
Hey Tom. I was testing multitrack recording POST fader no processing with my podmic and Rodecaster Duo. I put the main stereo mix and the individual mic track files in FCP and the individual track was lower volume than stereo mix. Is this normal?
Thanks for this review May I know the following. 1. Does it stream to multi platform in one go? 2. What's the highest ISO recording? 3. Does it have a sim card slot for the internet? 4. Does it bond the network like if you are connected to WiFi and Internet cable or it is only getting one signal? Thanks in advance!
Currently no, but it’d be interested to see if they can add more functionality in future firmware updates. It seems possible, but also, I have no idea how that stuff works 😁
@@tombuck good to know thanks! I'm wondering if eventually they'll create a combo device with 4 inputs and the video capture functionality (and maybe even 4k :). The ultimate creator device. Just a matter of time.
Well, I would like to use 2 Rodecaster pro2 and then have 10 combo inputs and 6 wireless channels. This is perfect for a larger conference with multiple speakers and other audio sources. You would be able to have up to 4 HDMI-/video sources + 2 computer inputs and 16 PHYSICAL audio channels. I used to run larger conferences and used a ton of equipment several techs. Now it can be done comfortably done with only two techs and it would even be possible to do as ONE crew operation due to the auto-mix and auto-switch. I was a little disappointed that the RCV only had two combo jacks however now I I don't see any problems with that since it's so easy to use the RCD and/or the RCP2. It would be interesting to know if it would be possible to connect TWO RCV and hence have 8 HDMI sources PLUS 16 PHYSICAL audio channel. Then these unit can wipe the floor with way more expensive switchers from Roland (VR-6HD for $4000USD) or Blackmagic design. Only drawback is that it only switch FHD and use HDMI, otherwise it's perfect.
Yes, you can run the RCP into USB I or II on the YoloBox, but there is a pretty significant delay. Nothing that can't be adjusted, but just something to be aware of.
I am a pro Photographer who is getting ready to jump in the deep end to create education videos as well as podcasts.... with the Rodecaster Video, do I return my unopened Rodecaster Duo? TIA!
Great tutorial nothing complicated Thanks sir u earn subscriber. I'm beginner just want ask, if i want in game chat and also mic output to my streaming PC. what should i do ? use 2 XLR input or something, anyone help ?
Thank you for the kind words! For your situation, it depends on your budget. A Rodecaster Duo would let you do all of that, but there are less expensive ways too. There's an app called Voicemeeter that might be exactly what you're looking for: voicemeeter.com/see-what-voicemeeter-can-do-overview/
Tom your videos are quite good and informational. kudos to all your hard work. I believe you have atem mini as well.. So what do you think running rodecaster pro 2 into black magic mini and then to blackmagic hd plus for video recording.. or running rodecaster pro 2 into rode video or just rode video?
I've personally never been a fan of running a Rodecaster into a Blackmagic switcher. I just can't get it to sound good! I always do them separately via USB. This is definitely a huge advantage to the Rodecaster Video (both its built in audio and it's Rodecaster compatibility), but if you already have a full Blackmagic setup, it's probably not worth the hassle of totally switching over.
@@tombuck I have setup almost completed as one of your. I have been watching your videos from a long while.. I have 7m4 and ZVE1 running into the atem mini extreme iso connected with rcp2 which is sending audio to Blackmagic hd plus. Mic is sm7b running Directly into rcp2 .. then there are some rode mics..also running a backup audio in zoom h5. I am just trying to understand how to make setup more useful.. if Rode video is worth it or not.. However I'm not able to find it over here yet.. Love from india. Your content is awesome and useful Man.
Can the Rodecaster Video send Audio to the Rodecaster Pro2 instead? For example I Would like to send a mix from the combo jacks 1,2 over to the Rodecaster pro2 and handle the audio from that device
It incorporates all the audio functionality of a Rodecaster along with 4 HDMI switching and graphics/scenes/chroma keying/etc. It's VERY full featured.
What about editing ISO recordings? Is it possible in this Rodecaster Audio/Video setup to edit it all afterward, for instance to boost a channel on the audio rodecaster?
It gives you all the audio and video, so you can do whatever you’d like in editing! Hopefully they’ll update it with .xml support, which would let you have a project file of sorts with all the cuts and things.
Do I only get one channel on the rodecaster video when I connect the rodecaster pro 2? So I can’t use the auto video switch using all the channels from rodecaster pro 2?
So a Duo and a video can make up for a rodecaster pro since i currently have the OG roadcaster pro. whew this makes since since i was worried about loosing two XLR if i go DUO
Yep, the RCV basically has a Duo inside of it, so adding another Duo will be functionally the same as a Pro 2 for audio (but with the ability to add two additional wireless devices!)
I'm curious how auto switching would work when the Rodecaster Pro 2 is connected. Can you have multiple XLR mics connected to the Rodecaster Pro 2 and have them separately be synced to different cameras? Or can you only sync the usb 4 audio input to a camera shot?
It basically just uses whichever channel the RCP is connected to, so it can't break out the separate sources from a connected mixer (would definitely be AWESOME, but not sure if that's even possible).
@@tombuck This should be prioritized as a feature. This is literally whats holding me back. This is how my current system works and they are separate ecosystems. If you're on the same eco it should be made possible, at least via software. They fix this, I'm an instant purchase.
I just never had the chance to try them out, but they seem quite nifty! I’m definitely more interested in XLR mics over USB, so I tend to focus on those.
Are there compatible usb mic inputs that would match xlr mics for a consistent look or would you use a duo or 2 to add in the additional xlr mics? Does this changes your recommendations for a 2-4 person video podcast setup?
One of the reasons only Rode mics work via Usb (at least for now) is whatever magic they use to keep everything synced up. So with any of the Rodecasters, adding a USB mic is totally fine with XLR. I need to adjust some of the recommendations, since this does change things a bit. If you want audio AND video in one device, then it's pretty tough to think of anything better.
@@tombuck so which mics would you recommend to pair with it for a 3-4 person video podcast? I really just wish they’d of included 4 xlr inputs. I really want to use the video follows mic feature, that way we don’t have to have someone distracted by doing the cuts while we’re filming or editing it afterwards. also the audio issues of going from rodecaster to atem were annoying so I’m ready to just be done with that setup This would be so much simpler if there were only 2 of us and not 3
The RCV will just include whichever usb channel is used, and won’t break things down further, but you’ll provide feedback can still record multitrack on the Rodecaster Pro/Duo themselves.
I’m 70 and have worked with video for over 20 years now. Started with the Nikon D90, on to GH3-4-5 and now I have kitted out the G9II. I shoot stills with my Nikon D850. I own a farm and ranch brokerage so also use a DJI Mavic 2 Pro. After listening to this video I came to one conclusion: I would rather have a Telecaster than a Rodecaster. This is the first of your videos that has given me a migraine. But I love your stuff and always find something helpful along with a bit of humor. I’d even rather have a Toastmaster than a Rodemaster. Looks like we’ll go wireless about the time we actually go paperless. Jim
I have 3 Insta360 Link cameras and I couldn't use them with the ATEM Mini Pro with having to buy expensive UVC to HDMI adapters. Would I have to do the same with the RODECaster Video??? Thanks!
The Duo will show up as a single USB source. You can use the USB channel as one of the auto switching channels, but it can't "see" the Duo's separate channels.
I do podcasts with remote guests and some basic content creation. While I think this device is amazing, I find myself trying to figure ways I might wedge it into what I have now that works marvelously well…and I can’t. The Rodecaster Pro 2, Stream Decks and Ecamm get me exactly what I want. Is there something I’m missing?
@@tombuck hmm thank you Tom your feed back is much appreciated! Best Regards from Berlin, Germany 🇩🇪 now I know what I need. Last question since I’ve got on, I have a Tiny 2 from Osbot which normally needs an OSBOT UVC to HDMI Adapter if I run it thru a Streamer X. Question: Does the Rodecaster Video have a built in adapter for USB C webcams ? Thx in advance Tom!
You don't NEED both, but if you want to integrate the Rodecater Video into a setup that already has a Rodecaster, or you want to use more than 2 XLR inputs with the RCV, this is a nice solution. The RCV essentially has a Rodecaster Duo built into it, so it doesn't need any additional gear to sound great.
Q: if you connect the duo (or pro 2) to the RCV via usb. Will you be able to use the auto camera switch depending on which microphone you use in the duo/pro2?
It’ll just use whichever USB channel you’re using as the signal for auto switching, but won’t break it down further into individual inputs. Would be cool though!
The lack of more audio inputs feels like a big handicap for this device. Right now, it seems to be mostly for live production. However if it had four XLR inputs, it could literally revolutionize the podcasting industry.
If two audio sources are plugged into the Duo which is then plugged into the Video, can Rode Central still recognize them separately for programming auto switching?
Everyone seems to want to connect the Rodecaster duo or pro by usb. Wouldn’t it be better to connect by the 1/4 inch jacks and save the usb for camera inputs? Is there a noticeable difference in sound quality? This should also work with any audio mixer, not just Rode products.
I recently set up my new rodecaster video and rodecaster 2, so that i could have 6 mics for my podcast. During the setup wizards I set all the inputs the same as much as I could, although the choices between the two boxes were slightly different. When we used them, we found that the rodecaster 2 mics sounded very different from the mics in the rodecaster video, with the RCV mics being much louder and brighter. The only way we could really resolve it was to simply push the fader on the USB 5 input in the rodecaster all the way up. Everything else was set the same from mics to input gain to aphex processing. Has anyone else experienced/resolved this?
I talked about that in my main overview, but wasn't really the focus of this video. I'd love 4K, but the reality is that if this did everything it can do AND was full 4K, it'd likely increase the price 4-5x.

@@tombuck thx!
The real question is: can you use auto camera switching based on the 4 xlr inputs of the pro? Auto scene switching is the killer feature… but not if it only works with the two built in xlr’s.
It works with all of the RCV's channels (XLR, wireless, USB, Media), but it can't "see" the Rodecaster Pro's separate channels.
Thanks for this review
May I know the following.
1. Does it stream to multi platform in one go?
2. What's the highest ISO recording?
3. Does it have a sim card slot for the internet?
4. Does it bond the network like if you are connected to WiFi and Internet cable or it is only getting one signal?
Thanks in advance!
Hi Tom,
Is it possible to connect the Rodecaster Pro 2 to Rode Streamer X this way or vice versa?
Do you think its possible to program the procaster 2 buttons to do the switching so you can use one device?
Currently no, but it’d be interested to see if they can add more functionality in future firmware updates. It seems possible, but also, I have no idea how that stuff works 😁
Thanks for sharing! I imagine the Rodcaster Pro audio is summed up when connected and you don't get the individual tracks. Is that right?
Yep, exactly. You can still record multitrack on the RCP itself though!
Great video. Can we connect the Rode Caster Pro to the Rode Caster Video as well? Or is just the RCP2 and newer?
The original isn't compatible, so just the RCP2 and Duo
@@tombuck thank you!
Would it work with the Zoom Podtrak p8?
Hey Tom,
Can you hook up the rodecaster pro 2 using the usb-c port with the Yolobox Ultra?
Yes, you can run the RCP into USB I or II on the YoloBox, but there is a pretty significant delay. Nothing that can't be adjusted, but just something to be aware of.
@@tombuck thanks for letting me know!
Hi Tom do you do post production audio fine tuning or its just raw as processed by the rodecaster pro 2
I usually just let the RCP/RCV handle everything. I'm quite a fan of the internal processing and presets. Definitely makes things way simpler!
I am a pro Photographer who is getting ready to jump in the deep end to create education videos as well as podcasts.... with the Rodecaster Video, do I return my unopened Rodecaster Duo? TIA!
Great video Tom. Are you useing the Duo now as your daily driver rather than the Pro?
At my desk, yes. I use the Pro for videos when I’m doing mic comparisons and stuff where I need more inputs 👍
@@tombuck oh wow when did you change and why. I remember when you were using the Pro
if you use both can you use the auto video switch function
You can use Auto Switching, but the Rodecaster will be a single USB source (the RCV can't "see" the separate channels).
Thanks Tom! Is it possible to use the Auto-switching/video-follows-audio feature with the USB/rodecaster input?
Yes, with the USB channel, but the RCV can't "see" the separate Rodecaster Pro channels, so it looks at the whole thing as one source.
What about your latency? Are the video and sound with these devices still in sync or do you have to or can you adjust something?
It can be adjusted. A few people have said this looks a little out of sync, and if it is, it was just user error on my part.
Will auto video switching work with the audio inputs from the duo?
this is the big question! for podcasts with more than two people it would be huge
Hello, It is posible to autoswitch video via multitack using rodescaster pro 2 in rodecaster video?
Currently no, the the RCP (or any usb source) only appears as a single audio source.
@tombuck thanks !
Can we connect the rode caster pro 1 to this rodecaster video? Or does it only work from version 2?
For USB, it's only compatible with the newer Rodecasters
Can the Rodecaster Video send Audio to the Rodecaster Pro2 instead? For example I Would like to send a mix from the combo jacks 1,2 over to the Rodecaster pro2 and handle the audio from that device
I'd like to know this too.
Mr tom does the rode video do more than the other castors. Or can i just get the video for audio and video and be fine mr tom thank u.
It incorporates all the audio functionality of a Rodecaster along with 4 HDMI switching and graphics/scenes/chroma keying/etc. It's VERY full featured.
@tombuck thanks mr tom have a great day I will just get that one
What about editing ISO recordings? Is it possible in this Rodecaster Audio/Video setup to edit it all afterward, for instance to boost a channel on the audio rodecaster?
It gives you all the audio and video, so you can do whatever you’d like in editing! Hopefully they’ll update it with .xml support, which would let you have a project file of sorts with all the cuts and things.
Do I only get one channel on the rodecaster video when I connect the rodecaster pro 2? So I can’t use the auto video switch using all the channels from rodecaster pro 2?
Yes, just one channel for the entire RCP.
@@tombuck so auto switching only switches to the one channel from RCP? Update possible to fix this?
So a Duo and a video can make up for a rodecaster pro since i currently have the OG roadcaster pro. whew this makes since since i was worried about loosing two XLR if i go DUO
Yep, the RCV basically has a Duo inside of it, so adding another Duo will be functionally the same as a Pro 2 for audio (but with the ability to add two additional wireless devices!)
@@tombuck thanks. gotta beef up my budget for that because it solves alot of prop. Jus need a teleprompter and that can make a perfect set up
I'm curious how auto switching would work when the Rodecaster Pro 2 is connected.
Does it compatible with external wireless video transmission?
Something like you put in a live feed from the camera wirelessly.
Yep! I have the Hollyland Mars system, but really any HDMI source should work.
I have watched you review a lot of Rode stuff, any reason you never reviewed the xcm50 and xdm100 mics?
I just never had the chance to try them out, but they seem quite nifty! I’m definitely more interested in XLR mics over USB, so I tend to focus on those.
👍🏽
I really want to use the video follows mic feature, that way we don’t have to have someone distracted by doing the cuts while we’re filming or editing it afterwards.
also the audio issues of going from rodecaster to atem were annoying so I’m ready to just be done with that setup
This would be so much simpler if there were only 2 of us and not 3
If using RD or RCP2 with RCV will you get multi track recording (mic 1, mic2, sound pad, etc) or just the mix track?
Thanks!
I've been waiting for this just to get away from the ATEM audio inputs.
OK, huge question if I’m using the Rodecaster duo solely for audio and feeding the audio into RCV can I still do auto switching?
The Duo will show up as a single USB source. You can use the USB channel as one of the auto switching channels, but it can't "see" the Duo's separate channels.
Does the ORIGINAL Roadcaster Pro work with the Rodecaster Video, or does it have to be the new Roacaster Pro 2 for it to work?!
Only the newer devices work (Pro 2 and Duo). The original kind of maxed out what it’s capable of and hasn’t received updates since the 2 came out.
@@tombuck thx. That’s what I figured. I have a Rodecaster pro 2 but I have the original just sitting in a box I thought I could use. Thx
Can i connect 2 RODE Interview PROs to Rodecaster Video ?
Can you connect the Rodecaster Duo with Streamer X for steaming a Podcast.
You can run the HDMI Thru from Streamer X into the RCV, but I don't know if you can run the RCV into Streamer X? I don't see why not 🤔
So I need to sell my Podcaster Pro 2 now to incorporate video? 😢
No, it's a great audio mixer. If you want to add video, then a video mixer makes sense!
What about a Streamer X ?
This is a great question- I just tried it with the same method and could NOT get Streamer X to show up as an audio source.
Question:
Does the Rodecaster Video have a built in adapter for USB C webcams ?
Thx in advance Tom!
How many wireless microphone connections can I do from the RC Video?
2 of the Rode wireless devices 👍
Does it connect with dzl creator ?
Why would you need both? Trying to understand the use case for the RC Video - I have the RC2 already.
No 4K 🥴 , I’ll wait for 2.0
Q: if you connect the duo (or pro 2) to the RCV via usb.
However if it had four XLR inputs, it could literally revolutionize the podcasting industry.
if they could update the software to see individual mics from connected rode devices it would be an absolute must buy for every podcaster
Where do i buy it Tom?
Right now it's only available at B&H: geni.us/rodecastervideo
If two audio sources are plugged into the Duo which is then plugged into the Video, can Rode Central still recognize them separately for programming auto switching?
No, the RCV only sees the entire thins as "USB 4 or 5"
I'm looking for 8 microphones. Currently have a rodecaster pro2. Convince me not to but the. Rodecaster video and another rodecaster pro2
You could get the RCV and a Duo for a total of 8 inputs 🤷♂️
is it possible to connect rodecaster pro 1 to it?
Not via USB, you'd have to run monitor outputs into the XLR inputs.
Is it also possible connect the Rodecaster Pro 1 via USB to the Roadcaster video?
No! I have the RCP 1 and 2 and I tried to connected the original to the video but it would not recognize it.
Theoretically you could get an XLR to combination Jack and connect to RCV with that but I’m certain the audio quality would suffer bc of the preamps.
Sadly the RCP1 isn’t compatible, so it’s only the newer generation devices.
@@tombuck @VerticalAvalanche
Thanks for the info! ✌🏼
Everyone seems to want to connect the Rodecaster duo or pro by usb. Wouldn’t it be better to connect by the 1/4 inch jacks and save the usb for camera inputs? Is there a noticeable difference in sound quality? This should also work with any audio mixer, not just Rode products.
Can it record in 4K or only 1080p?
It goes up to 1080/60
But what about the OG Rodecaster Pro?
Can I bring my yamaha mg20xu in via
The xlr inputs
Yep, they'll accept basically any XLR source 👍
Does anyone here know if wireless HDMI receiver/transmitters only mirror the computer monitor or can it be used as an extended monitor?
Technically they both have 1 Wireless Receiver that can connect to 2 Wireless Microphones just like the Wireless ME and Wireless Pro 2 receivers.
Surprised you didn't mention the 1080 limitiation. That's a pretty big limitiation in 2025 (almost)
I talked about that in my main overview, but wasn't really the focus of this video. I'd love 4K, but the reality is that if this did everything it can do AND was full 4K, it'd likely increase the price 4-5x.
