    • The Police - Message I...
    Lyrics:
Just a castaway, an island lost at sea, oh
Another lonely day with no one here but me, oh
More loneliness than any man could bear
Rescue me before I fall into despair, oh
I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
    Message in a bottle (Yeah)
    Message in a bottle (Yeah)
A year has passed since I wrote my note
I should have known this right from the start
Only hope can keep me together
Love can mend your life, but love can break your heart
I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
    Message in a bottle (Yeah)
    Message in a bottle (Yeah)
(Oh) Message in a bottle (Yeah)
    Message in a bottle (Yeah)
Walked out this morning, don't believe what I saw
Hundred billion bottles washed up on the shore
Seems I'm not alone at being alone
Hundred billion castaways looking for a home
I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world

    Sending out an SOS
hey Travis and Suzie hope you guys are doing well. following on from Every Breath you take, Message in a bottle is the other most famous song by the police. it is the first track off the bands second album regatta de blanc. the song explores themes of being stuck on a deserted island. It follows into a metaphor that aims to explain the pitfalls of being heartbroken and alone. At the end, the protagonist learns he’s not the only lonely person. by the way since you don't know who's who in the band. the lead singer and bass player is sting, lead guitar is Andy Summers and the drummer is Stewart Copeland. hope you guys enjoy and keep up the good work.

Along with Bonzo and Neil Peart and Bill bruford and a few others, definitely one of my favorite drummers. I played in a post punk band early on before moving on to other stuff but my drummer was about two years younger and he could play the drum lines to every Police song even at that young age, he was obsessed with not only their band sound but in particular the drumming of Stewart Copeland.

Sting is a big influence on Ren. His parents played the police all the time when he was little. There’s a busking video of Ren singing this song. And another busking video him singing Walking on the Moon. Another big police hit.

Fun fact: Walking on the Moon was originally going to be called walking Around My Room, but it did not sound right so he came up with Walking on the Moon instead. It sounded better so Sting called it Walking on the Moon.

You know who else was inspired by the Police's first four albums?
    Rush!
You can hear it in certain songs on the three albums Rush released between 1979 and 1982. Examples include the last part of The Spirit of Radio, Digital Man, Vital Signs, New World Man, Chemistry, and The Weapon.
Stewart Copeland and Neil Peart would also become good friends, right up to Peart's death in 2020.

The thing is you can actually go faster than that it just won't register it on the speedometer once it hits the peg. Hence the phrase, peg it. In high school I had a 1974 Delta 88 Olds, which was an older family car, but it was basically a big steel tank with a huge V8 engine in it and the speedometer went up to 120, but we regularly pushed it well past that. Once it pegged, you could just keep your foot on the gas and you could hear it just gradually picking up RPMs more and more and feel yourself going faster and faster. So who knows what the actual speed was.

That police car takes me back to London in the 1970s when I was a kid. The Police are a British band (although Stuart Copeland is American) and the influences of the band come part from punk and part from Jamaican reggae. There was a huge wave of immigration into the UK from the Caribbean in the 50s and this had a big influence on the music scene and British culture as a whole.

My friends and I were fortunate enough to have seen The Police when they reunited for a tour back in 2008. I remember when Sting walked out onstage wearing hat, summer clothes. I first started listening to the Police when I was trying to learn how to play the bass (never succeeded to this day) and Sting was the first bass player I saw who played fretless which I found intriguing; however, for me, it is Stuart Copeland that captures my imagination with his drumming. It is so offbeat (style-wise) for its time and I have always loved it. Was a bit surprised you didn't mention it in the reaction (there is still 3 minutes left so maybe I end up being wrong - LOL). Let's continue.
