The Police - Message In A Bottle (Official Music Video)
• The Police - Message I...
Lyrics:
Just a castaway, an island lost at sea, oh
Another lonely day with no one here but me, oh
More loneliness than any man could bear
Rescue me before I fall into despair, oh
I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle (Yeah)
Message in a bottle (Yeah)
A year has passed since I wrote my note
I should have known this right from the start
Only hope can keep me together
Love can mend your life, but love can break your heart
I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle (Yeah)
Message in a bottle (Yeah)
(Oh) Message in a bottle (Yeah)
Message in a bottle (Yeah)
Walked out this morning, don't believe what I saw
Hundred billion bottles washed up on the shore
Seems I'm not alone at being alone
Hundred billion castaways looking for a home
I'll send an SOS to the world
I'll send an SOS to the world
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
I hope that someone gets my
Message in a bottle (Yeah)
Message in a bottle (Yeah)
Message in a bottle (Oh)
Message in a bottle (Yeah)

hey Travis and Suzie hope you guys are doing well. following on from Every Breath you take, Message in a bottle is the other most famous song by the police. it is the first track off the bands second album regatta de blanc. the song explores themes of being stuck on a deserted island. It follows into a metaphor that aims to explain the pitfalls of being heartbroken and alone. At the end, the protagonist learns he’s not the only lonely person. by the way since you don't know who's who in the band. the lead singer and bass player is sting, lead guitar is Andy Summers and the drummer is Stewart Copeland. hope you guys enjoy and keep up the good work.

Good to hear Stewart Copeland banging the drums. One of the best.
Along with Bonzo and Neil Peart and Bill bruford and a few others, definitely one of my favorite drummers. I played in a post punk band early on before moving on to other stuff but my drummer was about two years younger and he could play the drum lines to every Police song even at that young age, he was obsessed with not only their band sound but in particular the drumming of Stewart Copeland.
Bonzo and Stewart are my two favourite drummers.
How does his snares sound so clean and distinct?
Rick Beato just dropped an interview with Stewart - it's really good.
Sting was the Mastermind though.
The Police were the biggest band in the world for several years in the 80’s
Sting is a big influence on Ren. His parents played the police all the time when he was little. There’s a busking video of Ren singing this song. And another busking video him singing Walking on the Moon. Another big police hit.
Fun fact: Walking on the Moon was originally going to be called walking Around My Room, but it did not sound right so he came up with Walking on the Moon instead. It sounded better so Sting called it Walking on the Moon.
The Police album "Reggatta de Blanc" loosely translates to "White Reggae".
As a fan since I was a kid in the early 70's, it was amazing to go to this reunion tour. Best rock trio of all time, with sincere apologies to my fellow Canadians Rush...
Loved the police when I was at school we had so many great bands from the uk in those days. Loved The Clash too one of many great bands from London
One of the best band ❤
Massive fan during high school and beyond. The guy i dated at school and for a few years after had a passing resemblance to Sting. Great days. I am 60 now. Where dose the time go?🐝
I grew up on the police when I was young. Great band. Bass line in this song is the most iconic ever in my opinion.
The drummer's father was Miles Copeland who was a founding member of the OSS, the forerunners of the CIA
That British Police car is a Rover V8 3.5 ltr SD1 model.
Lovely car.. I used have one.
It's predecessor was the Rover V8 3.5 ltr P5 model.. which had an American Buick engine.
The Police had big influences on reggae. So REN ...
You know who else was inspired by the Police's first four albums?
Rush!
You can hear it in certain songs on the three albums Rush released between 1979 and 1982. Examples include the last part of The Spirit of Radio, Digital Man, Vital Signs, New World Man, Chemistry, and The Weapon.
Stewart Copeland and Neil Peart would also become good friends, right up to Peart's death in 2020.
The thing is you can actually go faster than that it just won't register it on the speedometer once it hits the peg. Hence the phrase, peg it. In high school I had a 1974 Delta 88 Olds, which was an older family car, but it was basically a big steel tank with a huge V8 engine in it and the speedometer went up to 120, but we regularly pushed it well past that. Once it pegged, you could just keep your foot on the gas and you could hear it just gradually picking up RPMs more and more and feel yourself going faster and faster. So who knows what the actual speed was.
Still great listening to it forty plus years later! Gordon Sumner is Sting’s real
name and he had some really good albums as a solo artist!Their style is a cross between reggae and punk!
The police had a pretty strong Rastafarian influence so it makes sense
It’s a pretty common comment that The Police have a reggae’ish quality to their sound. Rastafarianism is a belief system so I’d say it’s a reggae quality personally.
Just wanted to slip in here that your reaction to Queens Brighton Rock was fantastic. The album is total fantastic. Please sit back and listen to Sheer Heart attack in its entirety. I was given the album for my 18th birthday by my father. He was a huge Queen fan.
I heard a story (which might be apocryphal) that this song went straight to the top of the Jamaican charts purely on the strength of radio airplay. The kids were shocked when they finally saw the band's video - three blond white dudes!
The Police have a TON of great hits.
And without having to use batons or billy clubs. 😁
This came out when I was in high school. Thanks for another awesome reaction. Love you both have a great holiday. Hello again from pa USA ❤❤❤❤
I saw The Police in concert In 2008 on their last tour. What great musicians,
Amazing that only three musicians could make such a big sound.
Probably the best reggae band the World has seen which is ironic!
Memories. I went through my teens with the Police being on the radio and (believe it or not) MTV…
Great song by a great band
pretty good music... really good old times :)
At this point, at least, The Police were just a huge burst of energy and fun.
The music of The Police was considered post-punk with some reggae influences. How much, varied song to song.
Ren was heavily inspired by Sting and The Police.... He's said it in many interviews.
Stewart Copeland is a beast.
That police car takes me back to London in the 1970s when I was a kid. The Police are a British band (although Stuart Copeland is American) and the influences of the band come part from punk and part from Jamaican reggae. There was a huge wave of immigration into the UK from the Caribbean in the 50s and this had a big influence on the music scene and British culture as a whole.
Reminds me of my dad he would put a message in a bottle every time he was at a beach here in Norfolk 🇬🇧 he had people write back to him for Germany,Netherlands ,Norway and France ! As a tribute we had his ashes put to sea 😊
You can hear a lot of reggae in many of The Police songs. "Voices In My Head" is a banger.
Love this song
The police had two or three reggae inspired albums.
Love the Police. Yes they were the first to incorporate some reggae & jazz into their rock music.
Sting sounds like Ren… Ren sounds like Sting. In truth, I think Gotye (“Somebody that I Used to Know”) sounds like Sting.
I saw them on there first tour in 1980 with the go go's, tower of power was there horn section, awesome, check out ,demolition man, great jam
No Sting did it all first. Sting doesn't sound like anybody apart from himself. People might try to sound like him but honestly, they shouldn't.
I meet them when I was working in a nightclub in Auckland, New Zealand. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year.
They give law enforcement a good name.
More albums the police please
It's a Rover SD1 with a Buick V8 ~ in London!
I guess reggae was huge back then.. and lot of the early 80smusic has jamaican/african influence. Some british music expert can explain if there is a term for that phenomenon.
The Police definitely has a reggae sound in their songs.
Ren does a Sting impression sometimes absolutely.
guys.... More Police! :)
Stewart Copeland, one of a kind could never to be duplicated.
Sting has a calypso voice ;-)
The police car is a rover SD1, iconic awesome car
the dressing room walls look like painted concrete.prob a relly old therefore quite small uk venue.
please do everything she does is magic.
Seems I'm not alone in being alone.
100% reggae influence. Sting released an album with Shaggy which is really good 😊
Ren is a huge fan of Sting/The Police! Good call!❤
The police car is a Rover SD1 3500cc V8
🥰🥰🥰🥰
Hi Santa!
"Walking On The Moon" also addressed loneliness and isolation.
Not only do the Police have a Ska sound, but mostly their music follows a lot of Reggae influences.
This is a great track! 💯
The clue is in the album title .
Message in a bottle one of their best but I like "Roxanne" more
1979 !🎸🎸🥁🎵🎵
The only Police I love...
their album "Regatta De Blanc" translates to White Reggae
TOOL only weeks away 😮for Me. Merry Christmas 🎄 Happy Everything 😊
Travis & Suzi
My friends and I were fortunate enough to have seen The Police when they reunited for a tour back in 2008. I remember when Sting walked out onstage wearing hat, summer clothes. Because at that time in 2008, May, it was hot and humid in West Palm Beach, Florida at the amphitheater there. They jammed for over 3 hours.
Amazing part was tickets were not that expensive. Imagine now, if The Police decided for another reunion. People would pay big money to see them.
I first started listening to the Police when I was trying to learn how to play the bass (never succeeded to this day) and Sting was the first bass player I saw who played fretless which I found intriguing; however, for me, it is Stuart Copeland that captures my imagination with his drumming. It is so offbeat (style-wise) for its time and I have always loved it. Was a bit surprised you didn't mention it in the reaction (there is still 3 minutes left so maybe I end up being wrong - LOL). Let's continue.
“Way before Rens music”.
Way way before. Way before Ren himself 😏
The police car looks like a Toyota Celica
That particular marking of a Police car would be nicknamed a ‘jam sandwich ‘. Think it’s a Rover 3500 V8. Stand to be corrected though.
Suze looking dangerous. Just saying.
Next check 'Roxanne'.
You should do an 80s Era series
That sound is a bit like ska. A mixture of reggae and pop.
Punk rock and reggae mix.
Police car is a Rover SD1. It can go fast
Synchronicity ll with official music video would be nice if possible.
Too bad Stewart and Gordon didn't get along. An amazing band for sure.
The real question is did your 1st car go over 75? If not no need for the speedo to go more>
Ren with the Big Push did a cover of “Englishman In New York” which is a Sting song 😊
Message in a Bottle is a great song ❤
Ren??? What about "stimpy"??? he can sang
3::40 Minutes till the Song startet....after 30 Seconds paused again....Good bye
If you're doing Christmas songs, O Holy Night by Weezer. It may be Weezer's best song
Who the f is ren?😂
So whats the deal with this band. It seems like most adults in America under the age of 25 have never heard of them? True or false?
To be honest haven't got a clue who rem is.
The video wasn't good and is a distraction from the music. The video didn't age well, but the music is timeless! ❤
these clowns not picked uo on the obvious reggae influencres peopered throughout the track
Americans new clueless there a big jamaica carribbea population in england fro the the late 1950s
where ska music ,two tone ,rocksteady reggae was massive from the 70s in england from the 70s early eigtes
with groups like bad manners ,the specials ,madness etc
Ugh! Don't compare garbage you've heard on the internet with.......
Ren is the furthest thing from garbage. Get a clue, *sshole
Ugh don't comment without looking your self.
Stuart is American. Stings ego led to break up of band.
Not true!!!
This is just terrible content
